    I'll be doing the same to my 98 RS. Only difference is to have upgraded intake, exhaust, and cams. Pretty awesome for a everyday commuter and never hurts to a have some punch at the same time.

      Fernando Ortiz-Torres That's just a GSR cluster, isn't it?

    • @BucksSuperStereoWorld
      @BucksSuperStereoWorld 7 років тому

      Type-R and GSR are the same in the US, correct?

    • @Phar2Rekliss
      @Phar2Rekliss 7 років тому

      Fernando Ortiz-Torres USDM Type R Cluster goes to 10,000rpm and redline is set at 8,500rpm with a noticeable red color change for the red zone! also has carbon fiber facing around the gauges. That is A GSR Cluster!

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but the B16 was a different animal not because of the displacement, but because of the shorter stroke.

    • @joedoole3527
      @joedoole3527 8 років тому +6

      You are right and wrong. A GSR and B16 do have different displacement, 1.6 vs 1.8 liters. They do however have the same Bore But different length rods and a different block deck height. They are both 81mm Bore though, and the B20 that he used in this build was bigger still at 84mm Bore sharing the same 89mm crank as the LS B18a/b.

    • @ClumsyCars
      @ClumsyCars 7 років тому +5

      What are you going on about? You said he was wrong and then said the same thing he did, just the long way.. lmao

    • @medicationsalutation
      @medicationsalutation 7 років тому +1

      shorter stroke gives less displacement, so he was right all along.

    • @MrJuice105
      @MrJuice105 6 років тому +1

      Your right a stock b16 with a tune can spin up 2 10k rpm easily and handle it because of the shorter stroke.

    • @21Kamil12
      @21Kamil12 6 років тому +1

      Sorta, might get some valve float on a stock b16a. The rod/stroke ratio on a b16a vs a b16b is limiting at those rpms too. The 16b having a longer block, and a r/s ratio of something like 1.8, would take 10k easy

    Those stock rod bolts maybe fine for a DD/ Drag set-up for a while.
    Try road racing that build and you'll have some major problems;)

  • @zackzittel7683
    @zackzittel7683 5 років тому +3

    What exhaust is that!? It’s sooo quiet at 4-5k rpms. My k24 sounds like a nitro breathing dragon past 3k.... I literally have to drive around town in 6th gear to avoid the unwanted attention. Stock Si manifold, a resonator and ktuned muffler. I’m debating trying to squeeze a second resonator in there....

      If you look closely, to the right of the tachometer is a speedometer. By carefully monitoring the sweep of the speedometer needle, (e.g. watching it) you can ascertain the increase in speed over time. The higher the rate of speed increase over time, the "harder it pulls". This particular vehicle falls into the "hard as shit" category of "pulling", as evidenced by the aforementioned calculations.

      Randy Illanas better in my opinion and works for a budget build... k series at this point is everyone and there grandma is doing it be with Honda’s or other vehicle types... over rated and just to say I have a k... b will never get old nor cost nearly as much to build and to consistently drive.

    Cool videos, I've just discovered your channel and watched a few. I'm a die hard Honda fan and have built nearly a dozen over the last decade. One question though, how are you tuning fuel without a wideband? Going off "feel" is not very accurate lol. Street tuning is fine, we do it every day as our little shop doesn't have an in house dyno but how can you have any idea what to do with the tune if you don't monitor AFRs?

      Victor Pla the gsr manifold has two sets of intake runners, bottom runners being blocked by throttle plates ( aka secondary butterflies). the reason for this is to utilize as much torque and hp at lower rpm when the engine is running on the secondary cam lobes. for the gsr, the vtec will operate the higher lift lobes at 4400 rpm until redline. you won't notice the "vtec crack" during the engagement because it's not receiving as much air as it will when it hits 5800 rpm and the iab regulator opens the "butterfly plates". this is when you will notice the infamous "vtec crack". and no, vtec on the gsr engine does not kick in twice. I hear this all the time and it cracks me up.

      you probably have already but, sell it and buy any older gen civic. I don’t think anyone makes mounts for b series in a 7th gen

    Stock LS/B20 rod bolts are sketchy after 8000rpm. The rods themselves, even with ARP bolts, are sketchy after 8800rpm.
    That said my limiter is 9100 in my stock rod, ARP bolt, B20VTEC.
