My favourite machine, rode in one that did a few tricks, hammerheads and a couple loops. Absolutely amazing birds. Of course it was a Hughes model flown by a cattle musterer with mega hours of experience. Coolest thing I’ve ever done. Ever since I was incredibly disappointed when in a jet ranger or god forbid a pathetic robson. Nothing beats TC’s CIA bird. Fantastic chopper!👌🏾
Its such a relief to see an actual heli pilot flying in this game finally. Since day 1 I was super disappointed in the wacky ground effect these helicopters have and since day 1 the super fans told me I was just a hater.
@@calypsodawson9368 Yeah its definitely worse on elevated surfaces but even the standard ground effect feels like an ocean where the air is just moving and shifting underneath you in really awkward and unnatural ways.
I've noticed a weird shadow, but it's not a shadow, that appears on the cabri cockpit when this happens... I did find trying to land with a tail wind would lessen the effect... Almost like going in to the wind sends you back up again...
Has CowanSim released an update for the MD500? There are no scratches on the glass. Do you usually fly it with such a zoomed-in view? You can’t see the instruments.
Do you have dynamic FPS turned on? It will turn down your settings to keep framerate up. You might need it to maintain performance for VR, but it's probably why the photogrammetry looks terrible...
@@CWLemoine in 2D for sure. VR might still be turning down LODs though. I have a slightly slower but similar setup. i9 12900k, 4080 Super and 64GB DDR5. I have the dynamic FPS set to 45 for VR but off in 2D. The dust effect is nice but kills frames on my machine too
Yeah I have the same specs as Mover, but with a 4080 super instead. A lot of modern videogames are just not optimized the best. I keep atmosphere filtering turned down to keep frames up.
My little MSFS world looks like zombiland aswell... I guess it's a VR thing. Never got better... waiting for the 5090... but not much hope here. Still, VR is my choise and ever will be until there is something even better.
@@CWLemoine There has been alot of graphical bugs and stuff that affects any level of hardware. Hopefully they will fix it soon. Also there is a known bug that occurs when transitioning into or out of ground effect.
My helos in the sim behaves similar on landing. What I found was that something was dynamically modifying the throttle as I lift and lower the collective. Unable to resolve it.
Those melted/warped graphics hurt the eyes. I've heard turning off Photogrammetry in the online options that it makes things better down low. Haven't tried it myself, but maybe something to consider if those graphics bother you. I've been considering a couple of Cowan helos myself. Nice to see it in your hangar. Bummer that MS24 is acting up. Hopefully they can start making material headway on crushing bugs when they return from holiday.
I just flew around over Manila Bay in the Philippins with the CowanSim Jet Ranger. Bought the add on in MSFS2020... awesome!!! So many landing sites ❤❤❤ But now Back to Christmas! Merry Christmas to you and Luna! 💫🎄🎁
In all honesty, I've been holding back because my 2020 experience was awful, from netcode through to rendering, then eventually unable to update or even download a reinstall (Just like you, hardwired, full-duplex gigabit with a more than modern enough, well maintained device). Even after my upgrade the ground detail and "mashed potato" vehicles are rendering artefacts I saw back then too as well as this dramatically lower frames at lower altitudes. I feel like nothing's changed under the hood. I was eyeballing X Plane 12 last night, or I might just take the plunge on some DCS content over repeating this path. Especially if that DLC manager STILL downloads and extracts one-file-at-a-time like a serial Sam. When this is true, I dread to think how sloppy the in-flight map-pulling netcode is written, not to mention the weather liveATC and other players data.
You're one of many real world heli pilots that has a problem with the ground effect. I could tell from the previews that it was off. Hopefully they deal with it sooner than later.
From the air the graphics look nice. If you want to go Full Magnum PI you'll have to fly it in Hawaii. Does the game have the airport where you fly with Lester?
I'd like to see a video explaining Lester's little mantra. My hearing isn't the best these days, and I've never fully understood it. Plus, I'd like to know what it means.
As someone who mainly flies the bell 407 in fs2020 I wonder if the bell is in fs24. I've been watching these videos and people's reviews and think I'm still going to hold off until some of the bugs gets solved. That choppyness is worrisome
Thank you for the vid. I see two things again that I strongly dislike with MSFS2024. As I am flying helicopters only I am not satisfied with the fact that the modelling of the flight model is still not where it should be AND you always see those beautiful sceneries, but as soon as you get low level like here at this hospital it looks like a postapocalyptic landscape….
Mover, China has a 6th Gen, tail-less, flying Dorito! We all know who they copied on that aircraft, so now the question is…….when is the U.S. gonna unveil their NGAD???
I am not paying out one more dollar until frame rates and physics are improved for ground effect rotorcraft. Period. Full stop. MSFS 2020 already has these problems. I don't need to shell out for MSFS 2024 unless they fix it.
Why is it that the absolute premier brand of software, the absolute pinnacle of operating system design, innovation, and they cannot make a damned simulator that doesn't require a nuclear power plant to run at acceptable frame rates??
@@CWLemoine Ahhh missed that. How's it compare to others you've used? Also that helicopter control rig looks super-slick. So hard to find rotorcraft controls out there.
even after tweaking the collective curves in the settings the turbulence around heli pads and platforms is just horrible and wrong. theyve modeled ground effect wrong or something... msfs24 is just such a hot mess... i dropped $1800 on all new flight gear including a virpil collective with throttle. Its all collecting dust as i just stopped playing the first week after "release"... Letting the sim cook longer till they start fixing their broken shit

Someone needs to 3D scan Lester so we can have him as copilot in the sim 🤣
With the Sheriff helmet, that would be a mod for the ages.
at very very least the T-shirts mover made so we can have them on our avatars, the 3 g toppa Tees ones :p
I lived in a hangar with an MD529N for ten year. Flew that bird almost every day. Ended up with over 2100 hours in that bird.
Aaaand did you try it in FS2024 yet, to give us feedback? 😇
I'm glad I'm not the only one struggling with the overly squirrelly ground effect.
Cue the Magnum PI music
I was thinking the same thing. I was an adult who lived that show!

This is a bug for GE, on elevated landing areas.
It’s a shame it’s back as this was fixed after the longest time in 2020.

@1:26 great life advice! 🙂
Thanks for this Mover. As Strngfellow Hawke once said, "flying is flying and games are games"😂
Is that Magnum next to you TC? 🤣
Nice to see these helicopter streams. Do you prefer doing them in VR or 4k.

So coming from fixed wing fighters, how was the transition to helicopter flight? Was it unnatural feeling?
Why didn't you fly it in Hawaii?
Watch out for drones around CB base

On DCS you have the OH-6A wich is free and flies awesome
Fire extinguisher should be on left where pilot sits.
It needs a lot of patches as very buggy at present, sure it will get better in time.

@CWLemoine that's cool maybe they will add some new ones too
They added a ton of new ones. R66, H225, Chinook, Skycrane, etc.
If you’ll turn photogrammetry off, those blocky graphics will go away.
Small correction Mover lol.
Is MD500 a mod, or in game content?...It has extremely rudimentary textures.
