  • Shi Yange is one of the 34th generation disciples of the Shaolin Temple. He has been practicing martial arts for 15 years since he was 12. In his view, Zen is about stability. Every internal nerve is activated beneath a calm appearance. By stretching and relaxing the muscles, practitioners can feel the breath, nerves and bones acutely. Shaolin Zen is one of Shaolin Temple's 72 featured techniques. The set of moves evolved from the way monks sit in deep meditation, combining the contents of the ancient books about healthcare methods, "Muscle-bone Strengthening Exercise and Marrow-cleared Scripture." With a history of more than 1,500 years, the moves alternate between slow and fast movements and stillness. #Chinakungfu

      You love the culture or the people? Culturally, particularly the ancient one like the Shaolin in this video is very interesting, but i think you may get disappointed with their people. They aren't as friendly and open-minded as you may have think.

      Two things: First make sure they speak Mandarin. Many areas of China can speak Szechuan or Cantonese. Bruce Lee spoke Cantonese, but that's beside the fact. Second, there's a nasty virus going around in China right now. It's contagious, & anyone 50+ years old has a 50/50 chance of not surviving the effects of it. If I were you, I'd wait until this new epidemic dies out first. I myself would love going to Wudang Mountain in China & learn from a Taoist disciple or monk, but risky for anyone right now. Hold off for now, IMO.

      Don’t wait, Aria. Go with however much mandarin you have learned. One thing I learned about Chinese people is that they are grateful for whatever effort you make. You can keep learning even after you’ve gone, and may decide to go again.

      Well, if you guys are so open-minded, then the open-minded authorities should have listened to Dr Li Wenliang, and then our closed minded government from various places in the world wouldn't have to ban Chinese from travelling as tourist, and/or student.
      Yeah we are so closed-minded to protect our interest, in this particular case "safety".
      Or, maybe open your mind, and cop some criticisms, may save a life or two.

    Wow, I've always wondered whether Shaolin Kungfu includes something similar to Yoga (due to Shaolin's connection with India through Bodhidharma), and this video has confirmed to me that it does ! :)
    There's a common notion that Shaolin Kungfu is "hard & external" while Wudang Kungfu is "soft and internal".
    I think that notion is gravely mistaken. They are of course very different, but it's clear from descriptions like in this video, that Shaolin Kungfu has a strong "internal" element, in terms of the meditation and inner body awareness, and "soft" element, in terms of promoting flexibility.
    Whoever challenges a Shaolin monk expecting to face just "hard" techniques will be in for a shock.
    Even as a student of Wudang-derived kungfu (i.e. TaiJi), my respect for Shaolin Kungfu has deepened even more after watching this video :) _/|\_

    • @bobjones-hs5nc
      @bobjones-hs5nc 4 роки тому +3

      They are both internal and external, but one is more so external and the other more so internal than the other. Both of them can do telekinesis etc. Their physical movements are just for athletic military mobility and health. Their physical self defence system is Wing Chun and usage of weapons but even with this they only maim as opposed to killing because they don't want the same energy returning - here is another dimension of internal. Once they are under the tutelage of a mentor they start learning psychokinesis abilities,moving objects with the power of their mind. I believe this takes place sooner in Wudag than in Shaolin. Of course Yogi's are adept in this too but without the military movements etc.

    • @marioalvarez3078
      @marioalvarez3078 4 роки тому +2

      Their body of internal exercises is vast. There’s what you see in this video, then there’s Rou Quan (soft fist), Xin Yi Ba, the internal practice of their external forms (Nei Gong) and then their Qi Gong exercises. In addition, they were (and still are) the mecca of Chinese Martial Arts, and so they observe all other systems and continue to develop their lexicon of movement.

    I hope you monks are still practicing the highest teaching towards the human form that we find the Buddha practicing in ancient artwork depicting Buddha using a sideways tree branch as a headstand prop. This ancient teaching is "One who practices the headstand 3 hours a day will surely attain enlightenment "...PERFECT ENLIGHTENMENT!! This is how one enters into the state of super conciousness described in Buddhism as the higher of the two formless states of conciousness. The human form beginning and ending at the Tan Tien (about an inch below the belly button) - also the center of gravity of the human form according to physics) is why we sit in this meditation pose. Going into this Soul/OM state of conciousness is where we find past monks of the brahminic preisthood in days of old who have no shape or form being dead yet born...The Lord Krishna is reported to have entered into this Soul/OM formless beingness this last decade. It's reported that it can be meditated into from our celestial bodies in the resurrection but here in physical bodies the 3 hour a day in the headstand is the only way. I wonder if first it has to be done in the physical body then can be meditated into from our ethereal bodies, Chinese and asians go from the physical body into the ethereal bypassing the astral body/world due to meditation which is the bridge between the astral world and the ethereal world. The Angel's (Christian Angel's and others) in the astral world are still oblivious to the existence of the ethereal body/world. They don't understand the reality of "the kingdom of heaven is within you" / that the "external" world has an illusory nature of being "external reality/astral heaven when it's in fact an internal projection of their mind...therefore meditation. A still mind causes the collapse of the astral body/world and the birth or activation of the ethereal body/world. Anyway entering into this state of super conciousness (no shape or form) is known by the degree of the feeling of the heartbeat in the crown chakra. None at first then very faint then more pronounced and very clear later...years. This pleasant tingling heartbeat sensation on an intermediate level will be about a 2 inch diameter on the too of the crown chakra then expand in diameter a few more inches. Within about 10-15 minutes of this expansion the heartbeat vibration will become a steady frequency and the body will go into a burst of pleasure as much as one can stand THEN OM!! Jesus taught this ancient lesson to His three highest disciples (highest teaching towards the human form) Peter, James and John using the cross as a headstand prop wherein they were nicknamed the "sons of thunder" since this state of super conciousness is a merging into the Living Thundering OM via our formless Soul (the 7th chakra is also called "the seat of the soul). It took them three years to finish this lesson which is really a physical and metaphysical transformation into it's wholeness...transforming from a "man made man " nto a" God made man". The natural way God made us. Tree branches and crosses and the ancient ANKH of Egypt are good headstand props but the easiest way is using a cloth hanging from an elevation then hooking the thighs into it for support. You can find these on UA-cam Yoga videos. Yogis call them "sky Yoga" . Then a gal cusion(s) for the head. I start with three but usually end up removing one. Doing this will cause the thighs to get numb where the cloth is but you can reposition the cloth from that numb spot and continue without taking any break. With practice 3 hours straight without breaks becomes routine. We really don't have any choice since in the end enlightenment is a physiological and meta physiological process and not an intellectual one (our mind/intellect) is part of the human form, because our pineal gland in the brain is the size of a raisin if we don't practice the headstand (called the King of Yoga postures) and it's the size of an eyeball or bigger if we DO PRACTICE THE HEADSTAND! The pineal gland is associated with the visionary state and these types of higher experiences and I wouldn't at all be amazed if you have these during your practice years but we keep moving forward into PERFECT ENLIGHTENMENT via this ancient teaching (3 hours headstand). Being highly ripe for a vision there is an ancient practice of candle gazing meditation where you stare at the hot spot of a candle flame for some minutes then close your eyes and focus on the afterglow with the "third eye" wherein we realize the non focusing of the physical eyes (relaxing them) allows our third eye to focus. This is experienced by the intensity and fading away effect of the afterglow flame between our eyebrows in accord with the focusing of the third eye. It's a side teaching since your pineal gland (associated with the third eye) will be ripe for a vision as a byproduct of the headstand practice. Namaste my brothers!! Meditation turns into heavenly wealth and power in our resurrection!! The kingdom of heaven is one of power not words!! We will sit together in the resurrection between worlds of form and the formless OM where the monks of days of old meditate without shape or form in the Soul/OM. Great video. WE MUST RESTORE THE WISDOM OF THE ANCIENTS AND THE BRAHMINIC PREISTHOOD!!! OM TAT SAT TO YOU ALL!!

      Umm, he has an accent. In fact, everyone in China speak with their own local accent. Southern Chinese usually find it hard to speak sounds such as s/c from sh/ch. Not that they(we) can't. It is just that they are used to not pronouncing the ch/sh sound. So, it is kinda hard for them to identify which word is actually with sh/ch sound.

    For one, people, this is Northern Shaolin which hold the reminiscence of the 1st school of Shaolin Boxing before it became martial arts, (WuShu) therefore this is not martial arts (Gung-fu) but kung-fu. Martial arts is the only one that can have zen (from the lotus sutra) and chi (I-Hseing and I-Chieng) build up. Not kung-fu or karate. Anything below karate is a sport, i.e. judo, aikido, wrestling and boxing.
    In other words, Northern Shaolin was once Central China in Henan Provence when India had control over their land. Then Buddha was sent to give the land back to the Southern Royal families of China when he stopped at Shaolin to see why they were the only ones practicing boxing of the other (15) temples in the other factions were peace promoting not fighting.
    When he was welcomed by Chu'uan Fa (Ken fat in Mandarin) the Head Abbott Monk, Buddha noticed the monks in poor physical condition. That is bc they realized that weight training was contrary to boxing. They had been practicing Shaolin Boxing (jabs, upper cut, cross) for 2300 years prior to Buddha showing at their front door. However, what they practiced was not yet martial art, neither did Buddha have it before or after leaving Shaolin.
    Long story short, when the newly found way of exercising was constructed into forms they found that the forms produced an element called 'zen' and when applied the force of it was 'chi'. This became the cover (hidden secret - one of) by yin and yang. But really it is zen and chi. Northern was left with the previous order of boxing, while southern China was given Gung-fu by the Southern Royal families who inherited it from Chu'uan Fa who escape the (1st) destruction of the temple, and went to the Royal family of Southern China for refuge.
    The Southern families rebuild the temple when it was attacked numerous times. Until Gung-fu was banned from China, and the royal families too. It was taken to Indonesia where it took on the name kuntao. (kune = the hand. tao pronounced dou means the way) Kuntao is the way of the hand. This is what Bruce Lee with his dumba.. self said he could intercept by saying tao jeet kune do'. there is no such art form or style by this name. Bruce's way was the movies and demonstrations. He was a fake martial artists, and so are all they that follow him as Practitioners of self defense, thinking they know martial arts.
    The name tells you where it is from, and like Bruce Lee offended Yip Man by trying to boot leg his 2 years of training in wing chun, and calling it 'his family' name (Jun Fan) was the first offense that lead to others that got him and his son killed. I wrote the first book ever to tell the truth about what happen to bruce Lee, entitled "What (really) happened to Jun Fan Li? Otherwise, this is hype! Northern Shaolin does not possess or teach martial arts. To say you are a Practitioner of Martial arts is misleading. You are a Practitioner of kung-fu. Practitioners of karate are experts, not martial artists. Its in the book how Lee twisted everybody's thinking.

      Sour grape Indian here. The original was bad. Chinese Shaolin combined Buddhist teaching with ancient Chinese zen practice and martial arts. Shaolin temple is not the only one practicing this. You go and improve your yoga. Zen is not yours.
