What a wonderful video! All TOTALLY TRUE! Pan Am was the best! They did so much for our country and paved the way for future airlines to look up to. I am a 30 year flight attendant with Delta and love to fly with the former Pan Am crew members! Thanks for sharing your wonderful sad and happy experiences. And you two ladies are still beautiful and gracious as ever.
The best? are we sure?, between 1970 and 1974 "the worlds most experienced airline" had over 10 plane accidents, one of the worst safety records of the western world and let's not forget Pan Am Flight 1736, the deadliest accident in the history of aviation
@@thomasjust2663 That is true. There were way too many accidents in a very brief span of 4 years, which brought on much needed scrutiny by the FAA. The accident investigations exposed flaws in procedures (in training and operations) that were exacerbated by flying in difficult environments and remote locations. After all the reviews, and changes that came about; we really did have a very safe operation. Not trying to excuse the accident rate. One crash is one too many. However, it was also reflective of the times. Airline accidents were more common back then. Today’s amazing safety record is something that was in the 60s and 70s just unimaginable. We’ve all come a long way.
Great video! Loved it. I loved Pan Am... pioneers in the sky. It's wonderful to hear of the experiences that no one knows about told by the flight attendants who experienced them. Excellent. Thank you.
Pan Am failed for the following reasons: 1) Bad management, the company flew to destinations with mostly empty planes 2) Didn't contribute to political campaigns of any party, while Continental, America & United did, thus had no friends in the Whitehouse or congress to help them in tough times 3) A culture of complacency that didn't let them adapt to changing times 4) Bad investments, the buying of national airlines was such an example, investing over $500 million dollars in acquiring 747 planes with no real possibility of filling all the seats
NO... aquisition of Natl was one of the ONLY good decisions ...IF IT WERE A REAL COMMERCIAL AIRLINE Pan Am... by the early 60's.. was no longer a real commercial airline . COMPLETELY controlled by the CIA... AFTER TOO MANY WHISTLEBLOWERS WERE BEGINNING TO TALK.. They killed one of them on PANAM 103.... BILL BARR AND COMEY WERE INVOLVED IN THE COVER UP... PAN AM 103 WAS TO COVER UP IRAN CONTRA... BY THE SEVENTIES PAN AM MANAGEMENT WAS NOT INCOMPETENT..... IT WAS DEMONIC
From what I understand, Juan Terry Trippe had a falling out early-on with someone in Washington circles & thus, Pan Am was only allowed to fly strictly *International* . The acquisition of National Airlines was supposed to give the airline domestic rights.
Jamie Whittle not boring at all! That lady living history and I could listen to her for hours! Actress Molly Hagan portrayed Pamela Taylor in the 1990 movie "Last Flight Out" - great movie! But listening to the real Pam Taylor is even more exciting!

Absolutely fascinating ! Loved it ! Had no idea of some of the things that went on..
Pamela Taylor is such an amazing person.
Thank you PAN AM for those memorable flights!
It's so disappointing that such an iconic historical interview with these 2 heroic Pan Am ladies is conducted with a non professional interviewer.
I'd like to hear about the midair with Hillary on her broomstick.
That's what I want to hear!
