It's funny in the video how one employee mentions to another "it's no wonder we're losing money." Even the video producers knew they were making a video for a sinking ship.
We had fun doing the video, i am looking at my self, LOL, 2:27, we did the part about 6 time until we had it right.back in 89, i was 29 years old. thanks for the upload, up to this day, i remember working at Pan Am, even though i been having my own business and making good money, but it was the best job i ever had, i loved working for Pan Am, i miss all the guys i work it with. may God bless all of them.
In my years of experience with various employers speech like this stems from management down. Oftentimes it starts with excessive cost-cutting and poor management and trickles down to the employees. It becomes apparent in their exasperation while struggling to remain positive despite threats of further employee and benefit reductions. Pan Am did this to themselves to a great extent by their poor decisions of yesteryear.
There is nothing to be embarrassed about. Pan Am was one of the greatest airlines to exist. I have flown on Pan Am, TWA, and Continental, really miss those days. Thank goodness, we still have Delta and they are trying their best!!!
@@kev8515 Some people hate on Delta and blame them for killing Pan Am. They point to them demolishing the Pan Am Worldport and say Delta wants to erase all legacy of Pan Am.
I think that was Mary Goshgarin , the little old lady with brown hair at ticket counter. Later ran Pan AM Aware store, MIA. Mark Morgan. And yep the training was the best. No company gives a hoot, now a days
They dont mention safety as it is priority one. Customer service is a add on. Pretty girls where given priority at that time. After 33 years with American I have had to use my safety skills to save lives a fire in the cabin and un planned evacuation. A old timer who came over from a different carrier never went to ART. How ? I have no idea. She did not even know where the halon extinguisher was in her section and how to use it. She used it as she did not properly assess the surroundings and injured a passenger.
I am sorry no I don't know I worked for united at LHR and sure you know they took over their operation at Lhr united must have used old pan am training videos to put their own training videos on
Loved watching this but what is strange to me is it’s all what not to do but no examples of where or when the employees should have these discussions. I’m assuming this video was part of some live in- person training to go over what you SHOULD do or how you SHOULD handle these situations?

They knew Pan Am was going under and even mentioned it in this official training video.

Excellent video. I am sure Pan Am was a superb airline.
I'm embarrassed to say that's me in the video with the dark hair on the right. If I remember correctly it was either 89 or 90.
you know what Evelyn i remember you, you were a ticket agent , i'm also in the video, 2.27, see if you can remember me, pushing 60 now, lol

Ah! If only other airlines took hints from this video, we would have better service.
+Stephie2007 sadly its before the days of 9/11
2:36 Lockerbie....
In 2019 nothing has changed .
Is there more
Imagining myself in the 80s being a Pan Am trainee
Sounds like Jetblue 🤣
Am I the only one who finds this video hilarious?
Tommy Holden ikr
I wish I could agree with you that it's hilarious. However, I really found it painful to watch.

I worked 30 for airlines and I can't believe how stupid employees can be. Glad to say I never did any of this.

Nowadays, Hell ! Bring the bratt kids and shit why not bring our DOGs
Ye is was like an Irish wake we all looking at a dead person
The irony is the corporate clown is asking his employees to lie to the customer
Back when Airlines actually gave a shit about customer service
Why is this in my recommended
Back in the 80s, everyone was watching everyone, and judging all behavior and actions. Critiquing like mad.
It’s worse today. People watching is an art form.
Too little too late!
Flying still as bad.
