i have this ukulele and i absolutely love the neck. it feels so nice and easy to play because i don't have to wrap my hand around a large circumference
Tha I you so much for watch and for leaving your opinion! I really appreciate you taking the time to share your honest thoughts about this uke. Thank you and have a wonderful day 😀.
Hi Katie, This is the first ukulele that my wife and I purchased from Guitar Center a couple of months ago. At the time I was really digging this solid top tenor Mitchell they had. It was a better looking ukulele and sounded better but was about $100 more. My wife thought I would loose interest in it so she wouldn’t allow me to get the Mitchell. We now own a tenor Enya EUT-X1, the concert Fender Zumba, and a soprano Flight TUS-50. The Enya is my favorite followed by the Fender and my least favorite is the Flight. This is mostly because of the sound quality of each but I also find the Enya easier to play with the wider nut at 38mm. The Enya doesn’t have as big of a voice as I would like but more than makes up for it in the beautiful sound it makes. It is more forgiving for string buzz as well. The Fender is a nice concert ukulele and it is my favorite concert ukulele I’ve played so far. I saw a similar tenor sized Fender with a low G string that I played at Guitar Center and fell in love with. I think my wife would have brained me if I had come home with it, and man was I tempted. The Flight ukulele has a huge voice for a soprano but I’m not crazy about the sound. Even though it has what Flight calls a zero fret nut, I find that you still need to be in good form and up on your finger tips as it is not forgiving on buzz from poor form. I also don’t like how the edge of the ukulele digs into my strumming arm. I think it will be great for our neighborhood camp fire get-to-gathers that we do when it cools off in the fall. Since the Flight is designed as a durable travel ukulele, I think it will be perfect for the camp fire scene.
I have this uku already for over one and a half year and I love it so far. Edit: I bought mine in a shop in The Netherlands and it included some picks and a gig bag.
That's really awesome to hear from someone has had this model for a while and has had a great experience. I'm happy that it comes with a case and picks as well. That really adds to the value.
Hi Katie, I own two Fender ukuleles. The Fender '52 and the Montecito. My entire family plays Fender and I think they definitely put a lot of money into the construction of the ukulele. If your interested I would look up the '52 and show it to your students. If they thought that one looked like a guitar, wait until they see the '52. As always love your content.
Great unboxing/review. While not always appreciated on a corporate level, you are doing the manufacturer a favor by pointing out the weakness in their marketing plan. And your viewers are apprised of better options that are available to give the most bang for the buck. In short, thank you for your totally honest review.
Thank you for watching, and I'm glad that you appreciate it. Try to look at everything with an objective perspective while remaining professional. It's a great uke, but it may not be for everyone. I know it may deter other brands from wanting to work with me, but these reviews are for you and not for a brand. Thanks and have a wonderful day!
Thanks a lot for your review. I love your videos. About this one: In my hands the fretboard is a little to big. They could make it a little bit thinner, for perfection 😎
Hi Katie! Great review, I really like the design of the uke. It looks very nice but I'm not sure how I feel about the price... Also may I ask what song were you playing after you tuned it (the strumming one) and do you have a tutorial for it? I want to learn it but I don't know what it's called, sounds really nice!
Hi, and it's great to see you in the comments again :). I really like it too, but the price is rather high just for the instrument if you compare it to other independent brands. I'm glad that there's a competitive market so that people can pick and choose what suits them the best. I was just making something up as I went when I was strumming, but maybe I should make a tutorial or an instagram tutorial. That would be a good idea. Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it.
One Music School and I agree, the price is a bit too high for just the instrument, it's sound great and all but having a good case with it and a capo would make it more fitting for its price!
I suspect people are paying for the brand name when they buy this ukulele. Recently I have had the pleasure of buying a Kmise brand uke. For a tenor model I paid about $50 and got a case, tuner, strap and extra strings. I hope you will review this Kmise starter ukulele from Friendstore on eBay. I am super impressed with their customer service. Mike (Sorry if I sound like an ad. I’m a returning ukulele player and found their brand a very good value.)
hi. First of all many thanks for your great channel. it always makes you enjoy watching and learning with you. I have a question. what kind of strings would you recommend to buy, if one breaks. Are there any big differences?
How do you tune this style of headstock. Do you turn all 4 strings in the same direction to tighten. Or do you turn the top two strings up & the bottom 2 strings down?
Fender is a great brand, I have a fender guitar 😊 and I think it’s very pretty. And I love your voice, oceans by hillsong is a very beautiful song too 😍
Yes, Fender is a great brand and it's for good reason they have stood the test of time. AWWWWW, thank you! You're so sweet, and Oceans is a tutorial that I have been meaning to get to for MONTHS! It's coming. I promise.
Good question. I think it all comes down to what you prefer and what you find comfortable to play. I have a video that has sound samples of both. I’ll link it below and then you can listen to them side by side, and I hope it will help. ua-cam.com/video/_C-pXjfOhhQ/v-deo.html
Thank you! I really appreciate that :). I put hours and hours into these videos, so it really means so much to me that you watch and appreciate them. I think it's very difficult to discern what one should purchase or if something is worth the money when there's so much hype surrounding a product or brand. I just really hope that it helps. I'll let my mom know that she's missed :). She'll love to hear that.
Looking at this ukelele to buy. Prices have gone up. Its now 219. Im an electric guitar player but for some reason i have an itch for a ukelele. Would like to see the inside construction of this ukelele. It would be nice to see the quality under the hood. Insert a small light and stick and a small mirror inside to see the inside of this. Would be cool. Thanks. 😊
I tried it in the store today and found it not as bright / resonant as much as my current Strongwind ukulele. Is it because the ukulele strings are not stretched enough? Or any other reason? Thanks.
That's really awesome to hear from someone has had this model for a while and has had a great experience. I agree that the voice is great on this instrument.
Sounds good, Katie...I love the head stock and neck (typical Fender)... no case?..bummer...I would love to see one with sold wood and a cut-away (with case), though...More like a fender guitar...Looks like a good starter Uke...good job getting the views from other young players..as always, great job doing this review and keep doing what you do (your so good at it)....I really appreciate the time and effort you put into these Vids....HAVE A GREAT DAY!!...:)
Thank you so much, Greg! I really appreciate how supportive you are. These videos are truly a labor of love, and so much time goes into each video. I just hope that I do you all justice by giving you as much information as I possibly can without causing you to fall asleep ;). I LOVE the headstock as well. The Montecito has a solid top and a glossy finish. I LOVED it when I did my mini review on my Instagram. It has a deeper tone that the Zuma in my opinion. You're amazing, and thanks for being here for me. 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I just posted a tutorial for "Oceans" today, and here's the link. Thanks for your request :). Oceans Ukulele Tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/EUc2Dw4UxAA/v-deo.html
Catching up on your videos. Very useful, thank you. For me, coming from being a professional musician(trumpet) as well as an audio engineer who has dealt with countless musicians and tours and event, as well as my own purchasing of ukuleles: I do prefer that the case be a separate items. The reason is that I may not like the included case and am wanting/needing to upgrade, so the included case may be a waste of money. At the same time, I've gotten good cases for great prices, so if Fender maybe wanted to bump that price up $25-40 for a decent case to include, it would still be a good deal.
I really want one but does this compare to the top branded ukuleles? No doubt I want this one for the beautiful headstock and brand as my Jazz bass and Strat are fenders but at the same time I want the absolute best sounding Ukulele
I sincerely love the difference in a review unboxing a ukelele versus one by BroTown Guitars Inc. I would pay money to hear one of those other dudes pull a 7 string Schecter DeathMachine out of the box, give it a big smell, and say, "CUTE!"
Hello! I’ve seen most of your covers and reviews but I would LOVE LOVE LOVE(!) if you did a ukelele tutorial of “Cecily Smith” from Fly By Night, the version Will Connolly sings in the bonus track. That song means a lot to me and all you tutorials are super easy to follow, so I’d be all over it. I’m sure other people might like it too! The song is so romantic and pretty, it would mean the world. Thank you so so so much, if you read this Katie. ❤️
I see you have unboxed some ukulele's with a gloss finish and some with a satin finish. Is there a difference in sound or resonance with one or the other?
That's such a great idea!!!! There is a slight difference, but not much. Gloss is easier to clean while some people believe that a matte finish has a louder tone. Some also believe that if a glossy finish isn't done right, it will dampen the tone. I've never come across that before. A glossy finish could also keep the moisture in or protect the instrument from drying out more. That's a really quick rundown, so I hope that helps.
☝🎶🏠🙌 You have amazing reviews Katie. You point out all the little things that as a beginner like me are really helpful. If I'd only known about your string stretching technique, now I do:) I looked at these in the music store when choosing my first ukulele. Wasn't sure if the headstock was a gimmick or functional, while still setting it apart from the crowd. On the wall of ukus it did stand out. It was the price that made me wonder if I was paying for the name. Although if I was a Fender fan and had their guitars, it would be in the collection. The way the tuning pegs are set up I can see tuning on the fly being nice when in the middle of a song on stage. Ya, a really insightful and comprehensive review. Nice to hear your students thoughts and opened eyed reactions. They tell it like it is which is refreshing. Yes, their open honesty and your insightful knowledge provide a helpful, trustworthy review of this Fender ukulele. Be interesting to hear your thoughts in the future as you get to know this Fender. Thanks again Katie, hope the rest of the week smiles along with you and your students as you sing Happy Summer songs.
That's so sweet of you to say that about my students. I really do feel that it is important for people to hear the opinions of others. I won't always be able to do that, but I want to do that as much as I can. I think it would be great to have the tuners all on one side to tune on the fly, and the iconic headstock is recognizable anywhere. I'm really glad that you enjoyed the review. Thank you for your feedback. It really helps me determine what important things to keep or things that don't really matter and should be left out.
I have this Fender Ukulele as wel as the Flight concert 445 acacia, can’t pick a winner. They are both very nice, but produce a different sound. Depends on my mood I guess
Another great review. What did you think of the action on this one? I’m curious how much care they place in the set up of their instruments. Maybe that could explain the price too. I do think you are paying for the brand a little here. But with this brand, you assume high quality so hopefully the craftsmanship justifies the price.
I own one and I love it! I tried it in a music shop and I knew that it is the one. Its vibrations make me feel good. It is pretty loud. I recommend it.
That's really awesome to hear from someone has had this model for a while and has had a great experience. I agree that the voice is great on this instrument.
Try turning your wrist at more of an angle by lifting your elbow a little. That will pivot your wrist a little to the side and leave more room for your fingers for the G chord.
You read my mind! I actually filmed it already, and all I have to do is edit it :). Thanks for leaving a request, and I'm glad that you want to learn a song that glorifies the Lord!
Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I just posted a tutorial for "Oceans" today, and here's the link. Thanks for your request :). Oceans Ukulele Tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/EUc2Dw4UxAA/v-deo.html
Y I went with uke and not an electric bass is that ukuleles have this nice, relaxing Hawaiian vibe to it ofcourse the good quality ones I ended up buying a fender ukulele for 310$
That ukulele is too nice but also too expensive, it costs almost $ 2700 Mexican pesos (it's out of my budget😂)!!! I hope I can buy one similar one day Ps: thanks for the review💕
I guess I was referring to the individual that didn't have many ukes. Personally, If I were going to purchase a uke for that price, a case would be nice for transit. For that price, I can find other ukes that come with more than just the Zuma, but it's a decent uke.
IT is really pretty. I have heard a lot about Luna Ukuleles, but I haven't played one before. I do have a LOT of other ukuleles that I'm going to review for you, so stay tuned. I just received 6 in mail.
Or an Oscar Schmidt that’s my choice right now their spalted maple had such a beautiful tone to it. The Luna soprano my daughter plays has a beautiful tone it’s painted with a faerie and I’ve wondered if the f at that it’s painted makes a difference
I've heard good things about Oscar Schmidt before, and I've played a few. The painted wood shouldn't make much of a tone difference in my option. Thanks so much for watching and sharing your thoughts :).
Ah, I’ll have to go check Instagram - I’m looking for a review on the Fender Dhani Harrison Tenor, I LOVE the turquoise but nobody around me has one in stock and I hate buying blind without some review guidance. Has anyone seen one? Put hands on one? Thoughts?
would you normally do intonation tests on the ukuleles since there can be many factors that makes it 'bad'? i rarely see unboxing doing that, eg. playing on the 12th fret for open and fretted...
I did play on the 12th fret of this one, and I try to play low and higher on the neck to make sure that it's consistent. I play on the entire fretboard to make sure that it's consistent, and I try to play the uke for a few weeks and then give some final thoughts to make sure the strings have settled and that the intonation is in fact consistent throughout the fretboard. I think it's essential. I also try to play barred chords so that it's not just the open chords that you hear. Is there anything that you would like to see me do more of in my next unboxing?
there was a review for 'flight tus 35db soprano ukulele' by 'Carlitos' on youtube /watch?v=S44KUXie0l8 (i can't post full url) at time 3:13 onwards, he did a octave test, it sounds the same to me. but when i tried it on my tenor ukulele, there is a slight difference in sound. was wondering if it is due to the size of the instrument.

I really appreciate your reviews. You are honest about pro's and con's but not sarcastic and negative like another reviewer I came across on-line.
I love Grace vanderwaal! She is so lovely and I always wanted to know what uke she played and whether it was worth it. Thank you:)
Yes, she is and she's coming out with her own signature ukulele soon :). Thank you for watching, and congratulations on being first!
One Music School no problem!! I’ll always come back to watch your videos😆
😂 the background music when you smelt it... Very clever 😂
:) . HAHAHAHAH! I'm glad that made you laugh!
I have this uku already for over one and a half year and I love it so far.
Edit: I bought mine in a shop in The Netherlands and it included some picks and a gig bag.

Thank you so much for watching! I really appreciate it!
I just picked up one today. I don’t know if I like it. I wanted real wood and the metal frets are rough. It is a bright sound.
Sounds and looks fantastic 😃✌plus the groovy Fender shaped headstock, thanx
I played 40 different ukulele completely disregarding pricepoint, and this is the one I loved and resonated with......thats all I know😂
Thanks a lot for your review. I love your videos. About this one: In my hands the fretboard is a little to big. They could make it a little bit thinner, for perfection 😎
if fender would make Electrical ukuleles that looks like a tele or a strat, my dreams would come true!
That would be pretty cool :).
Loved this review, refreshingly honest in your sum up. Good work
Thank you! I appreciate you watching, and I hope to see you in the next one :).

thank you for the review I love grace she's the reason why I play the ukulele
What do you think of the Fender Venice uke? I’m thinking of buying it soon to get back into playing.
I suspect people are paying for the brand name when they buy this ukulele. Recently I have had the pleasure of buying a Kmise brand uke. Hi. Which do you like better, this (Fender Zuma) or the Cordoba 15CM? Which sounds better? (The price difference/value is not a priority for me.)

Awwww that's awesome! I'm so happy that you like yours. Thanks for leaving a comment. I appreciate it.
@One Music School. Have the fender zuma classic good high big sound when you play it? Can you easy hear your voice and the ukulele at same time?
Most thorough and objective reviews out there! Loved the kid reviews (but miss your mom's review)!

I tried it in the store today and found it not as bright / resonant as much as my current Strongwind ukulele. Is it because the ukulele strings are not stretched enough? Or any other reason? Thanks.
I’m not sure, but if you prefer a different uke, you should trust your gut.
@@OneMusicSchool Thank you ma'am for your kind and quick reply.
Oh, it's my uke! :-) Honestly, I love it so much, it sounds great and looks so beautiful

till may oh I've got this uke too and I'm too from Poland🇵🇱
will this fit in a standard concert hard case? I was thinking about a Gator.
I try this one on a music store and dam the feeling and the sound was very awsome

I really want one but does this compare to the top branded ukuleles? No doubt I want this one for the beautiful headstock and brand as my Jazz bass and Strat are fenders but at the same time I want the absolute best sounding Ukulele

Great question. The action on this ukulele was fantastic, which I fully expect from Fender.
Grace is a super good uke player I saw the title and I thought 'wait.... she was on Americas got talent' and I was right how are you today?
She's adorable, and she has a lot of poise for 13 years old.
oh yeah! i'm 13 too
It’s my first ukelele After only playing guitar and I love it
I own one and I love it! I tried it in a music shop and I knew that it is the one. Its vibrations make me feel good. It is pretty loud. I recommend it.
That's really awesome to hear from someone has had this model for a while and has had a great experience. I agree that the voice is great on this instrument.
I love how u say ukulele because I’m pretty sure that that’s how you say it in Hawaiian sounds cool love it
Really nice ukulele!!!!
Lovely😍😍
It really is a nice ukulele, I can't lie :).
You should do a video with one of the Fullerton ukulele series
Please do a review of the fender montecito tenor
Clicks video to watch unboxing ; ends up staring at you the whole duration . God it's a crime to be that pretty !!
One more thing , planning on starting to play . I'm stuck between tenor and soprano ukulele. Which do you think is good for a beginner ?
You made my day! How sweet are you? Thank you so much, and have a great day 😀♥️.
hmm play concert Ukuleles and I'm only 5 feet tall. It depends upon how big your hands are. Have you tried any Ukuleles yet?
One Music School yes I've fiddled with a few soprano ukuleles . My fingers fit fairly well on the fret board. I struggled with g chord though .
Try turning your wrist at more of an angle by lifting your elbow a little. That will pivot your wrist a little to the side and leave more room for your fingers for the G chord.
I got it for 100 euros today....GONNA START LEARNING UKE!
Could you make a tutorial of Oceans-Hillsong?
You read my mind! I actually filmed it already, and all I have to do is edit it :). Thanks for leaving a request, and I'm glad that you want to learn a song that glorifies the Lord!
One Music School thank you so so much! 😊 I already know playing it but I like your version more ❤️
Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I just posted a tutorial for "Oceans" today, and here's the link. Thanks for your request :).

Y I went with uke and not an electric bass is that ukuleles have this nice, relaxing Hawaiian vibe to it ofcourse the good quality ones
I ended up buying a fender ukulele for 310$
Insightful review. Thanks !
Thank you so much and thanks for watching :). I'm glad that you liked it.
I've got this one and I think it's amazing😍
That's awesome to hear! I think it's great as well, so it's nice to hear what other people have to say about it.
Thank you for this!!! 💜
this uke is only $86 on Amazon right now if anyone was interested
Oooooo! Great tip! Thank you!
I would just DIE of happiness if you did a tutorial for Darkness Keeps Chasing Me!
Thanks for watching! I'll see what I can do, but I film all of my songs a month in advanced, but it may get be a while.
Thanks for replying to my comment! That’s totally cool, whenever you have time 😃 Your videos are awesome!
I bought the signature model with a gig bag for £180.I”m just hoping it’s a decent instrument.
I just filmed a review for that uke!!! It's very pretty!
Oh Katie you love smelling new ukelele's 😊😊😊
LOL! I think more people smell their instruments but never talk about it :).
What's the song at 2:30?
Your an agressive chucker and i luv it :)
Isnt that the fender zuma for $159?
Yes 😀.
That ukulele is too nice but also too expensive, it costs almost $ 2700 Mexican pesos (it's out of my budget😂)!!! I hope I can buy one similar one day
Ps: thanks for the review💕
I know what you mean. You have to do what's best for you. I hope the review helped you, and have a great day :).
Is it a plug in ukulele
This one did not have a pick up. I'm assuming that custom fit a pickup for Grace's Zuma for performances.
🙌🙌
👍💞🌷
One Music School God bless you🙌🙌
First Lol. Sorry, I never get to do that
I'm so happy that you're here this morning! Thanks for watching. Your support means so much to me.
How many cases do you need? It’s better that the money goes into making a better instrument than into another case you’re not going to use.
I guess I was referring to the individual that didn't have many ukes. Personally, If I were going to purchase a uke for that price, a case would be nice for transit. For that price, I can find other ukes that come with more than just the Zuma, but it's a decent uke.
I want that uke! You should review a Luna ukulele.
IT is really pretty. I have heard a lot about Luna Ukuleles, but I haven't played one before. I do have a LOT of other ukuleles that I'm going to review for you, so stay tuned. I just received 6 in mail.
I can't wait to see those ukulele reviews!
Thoughts?
Mine is that exact one but electric 😭
Nice!
sorry if this sounds weird, can't help but kept staring at your arm when you are stretching the strings :P
You're funny!!!!!!
would you normally do intonation tests on the ukuleles since there can be many factors that makes it 'bad'?
i rarely see unboxing doing that, eg. playing on the 12th fret for open and fretted...
Is there anything that you would like to see me do more of in my next unboxing?
there was a review for 'flight tus 35db soprano ukulele' by 'Carlitos' on youtube /watch?v=S44KUXie0l8 (i can't post full url) at time 3:13 onwards, he did a octave test, it sounds the same to me. but when i tried it on my tenor ukulele, there is a slight difference in sound. was wondering if it is due to the size of the instrument.
the price is much cheaper now on Amazon
Great thumbnail!
Thank you so much!!!
I have a fender my uncle gave me but I cant sing.
Black bird tutorial pleaseeee
Very esthetically pleasing! The uke too, btw...
