most people: so yeah when I’m in a reading slump I like to read easy and short books, like a graphic novel or something leonie: I’m gonna get out of this reading slump through RUSSIAN CLASSIC LITERATURE (also, congrats on your thesis!)
Reading slumps always make me think "do I really like reading?" and its sooooo annoying! I'm in one right now and I hate it. But you're right, you can't feel the highs without the lows...
i had a huge reading slump too in this month, i discovered what usually helps me get out of it if i reread something i love. it puts me back to actually want to read because i already know the story and it brings out all the familiar feelings.
You just have the absolute best vlogs. Reading slumps are the absolute worst. I just started immersion reading this month and audio/physical reading is the best.
omg im the exact same about sequels!! it takes me so long to finish a series even if all the books are out bc I have to be in the right mood to read it for fear of ruining my experience
14:35 I really wondered throughout this vlog what exactly do you mean when you say "Reading Slump"... I am planning to start "Ulysses" by James Joyce, also, I am reading the Sherlock Holmes short stories. loved the style of this vlog and the voiceover, brilliant! 😆 Merry Christmas! ❤❤❤
Congratulations on finishing your thesis!!! What an amazing feeling and achievement :) I can definitely recall those emotions!!! Hope you had a lovely Christmas. I will be putting the The Watchmaker on my TBR :)
Also, re sequels, I totally understand; however I think I can confidently recommend the follow up to The Poppy War. I gave Poppy War 3.5 stars and was on the fence about continuing. Granted, the first 100 pages or so I was not too fussed on the writing, but then WOAH suddenly the thing takes off and OOPH. I gave it 4.5 stars. I have not read third and final instalment yet but I will be doing so in the early new year. Just thought I would recommend :)
I've been in a reading slump with crooked kingdom since months... I do enjoy it but I just can't get myself to keep reading. I'm probably afraid of what bad might happen to these characters that I love😅
I have the same feelings about The Bear and the Nightingale, I found it not spectacular at all. And I also didn't enjoy the Fahrenheit 451 that much. I hope you fully recover from your reading slump! I just finished The House in the Cerulean Sea that I loved so much and I'm picking up The Midnight Library which I heard is a great book too. Happy Holidays! 🎁🎄☃️
I had the last exam of the year on the 23rd and that same afternoon I started The Fellowship of the Ring!! I'm so excited to finally read it and to finish the year with this one!!! :)
Yay for finishing your thesis! Is it normal for your University that it is a complete literature study instead of a thesis after in-field experience? Or is this because of the quarantaine situation? I'm just asking because in Belgium we have to work in a lab for 9 months and then write the thesis based on our results. (Both have pros and cons so it's not like I think one is better than the other, just wondering :D )
Girl your green sweater with the little mushrooms is so adorable! Where did you get it? Also any tips for people who want to read more but feel really unproductive when actually sitting down to read??
Audiobooks!!!! I listen to audiobooks when I cook, clean, walk. Also- schedule in the time. You’re allowed to relax, in fact it’s vital to your health!
I’m currently reading The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon after hearing the hype for many years lol. So let’s hope it’s good!! ✌️ also; merry Christmas Leonie! 🎄✨
Must be something in the air because at least half the people watching this are in a reading slump too 😂 I had mocks and had to take a break from a big book that I was enjoying and now I’m moving through it at about 2 pages a sitting ... *sigh*
I'm currently reading pride and prejudice! I really shouldn't be reading pride and prejudice right now!! instead i should be reading grays anatomy fro my anatomy exam on Saturday! aaaaaaA!?
You finished your thesis a day early? You really need to improve your procrastination skills. I still need to finish (actually, start) a couple of lab reports from 1985.
