Thanks for a great show. Even though I model N scale your videos have provided me with a one stop shop for wealth of information about the hobby. Using the techniques in your videos I have: installed several sound decoders in some of my older N scale locomotives, installed lighting for my cabooses, programed my sound decoders, started using JMRI with my NCE system, and fixing my broken DCC cables instead of buying new ones. Thanks for all your hard work for sharing your expertise with us.

Thanks for the video on making this type of pipe. I can surely use this on my layout. Stay well.

The method I found to work very well is to wrap heavy duty foil around a new bolt long enough to suit the length you want then put a fine line of super glue. on the last wrap I've also put a thin mix of plaster of paris inside to further strengthen the tube. The reason for a new bolt is you can't unscrew it off of a old rusty bolt , I've had quite a few complements on ones I've made for loads

Good method, thanks for posting it.

I double the heavy duty foil then wrap them around a 1/4-28 bolt and BAM! drainage pipe.

Good video and tips. JTT Scenery Products makes cattails that look really good and aren't as expensive as other suppliers. Read one of your replys to a comment where you said you're wanting to replace the cattails you have now. 👍

Yep, that’s the ones I bought to replace the old ones shown in the video. I installed those back in 2013 and I think they were from Walthers.

Hi Larry, I am enjoying your videos. Is your website still active?

    • @TheDCCGuy

No, as I previously announced there and in my MR column I only planned to keep it active until the hosting fee came due and it did in late January.

Can you do an article on fabricating cat tail, yours looked very good?

Those are commercial but I don’t remember which. I have seen some that look a lot better and I actually plan to tear mine out and replace them.

JTT scenery products makes some really nice looking cattails along with lots of other scenery products. The prices tend to be less than other large retailers also. 👍

Why waist, just put at edges of road not under the whole thing . I use them in ditches in yard same way.
I wonder if you doubled up the thin foil if that would make it stronger.
I've also used it as piping in an industry.
    Great job.

That’s exactly what I said on the video and showed with my installation on the Piedmont Southern. I use sections about 1-1.5” long on each side of the road. Doubling up doesn’t help that much. For pone thing I think the smaller corrugation spacing in the commercial stuff makes them stronger too.

Most pipe I have seen is spiral wound.

And just how would you be able to see the difference between these and spiral wound ones?

Great video Larry. I have been using the inside tubes of dog dodo bags, and painting them an aluminum color. But they are slightly too thick. Thanks

Your way too wordy, the wood impression was a lot better looking then the first finished foil, I thought, your too fiddly with your hands 🙌 on camera, try to relax and get in a grove, your a super hero at electronics, but not so much with foil. Keep em coming !
