Proof wix xp oil filters & Mobil1 isn't the only oil filter you need to see cut open but also the fram tough guard oil filter even K&N oil filter in comparison to supertech oil filter. We even review Fram ultra synthetic vs wix xp. Best oil filter mannol? or bosch oil filter even Microgard oil filter.
    Nates interactive auto we show the engine oil filters that are supposed to be known for high quality. Unfortunately that is easier said as we show why opening The Mobil1 extended performance motor oil filter. Next Fram ultra synthetic oil filter. Even more unbelievable The wix xp extended performance. with today's extended drain intervals oil filtration is more important than ever. Do not use fram filters? you decide for yourself. oil filter review with royal purple, amsoil and many other brands you must know about like super tech oil filter. best oil filter or oil filter comparison you decide like purolator oil filter and synthetic oil filter. good oil filters such as k&n oil filter also tested napa oil filter plus stp oil filter review.

    I appreciate all your work checking out oil filters by cutting them open and explaining the pro and con of nitrile rubber versus silicone and cellulose media versus synthetic media. However, it really comes down to effective filtration (ISO 4548-12 - Filtration Efficiency Using Particle Counting, and Contaminant Retention Capacity) and flow especially if you are going 7,5000 / 10,000 / 15,000-mile oil change interval. Most but not all oil filter manufacturers include a micron rating concerning filter performance / efficiency

    It seems that some filters are better at this and others are better at that. Is it possible that one filter is best at everything? That doesn’t appear to be the case. One thing I have noticed is that your filter selection is kind of like Armour Hot Dogs (Fat ones, skinny ones, even filters with chicken pox). I think it would be a good idea to compare all of the filters for the same application. I have seen instances (not necessarily oil filters) where a manufacturer might spec out different quality components for similar parts with different applications. In other words, a Wix (random selection) Ford Triton V8 filter could be built differently than a Toyota V8 filter or even a Ford 4 cylinder filter. I am not saying that this is the case, but it is certainly a possibility. As far as a tiny bit of light rust in a filter from storage, I’m pretty sure that once in use, the filter media will filter that out. The real question should be is it a real problem or a perceived problem? Good work!

    Purolator and Wix filters are good aftermarket filters for standard oil change intervals. OEM brands make good filters too such as Honda and Nissan. Honestly I’m not too interested in what the filters look like before they are used. What I always use as a gauge is running whatever mileage interval I plan to use, and then inspecting the filter after the fact as well as sending the oil samples off to Blackstone and getting a report back on the particulate that is in the actual oil sample.

      All 4 replies here miss a KEY critical factor. Micron Filtration AND if you use 15-25k Guaranteed Oil Brands, Changing the filter 2 or 3 times in the life of that brands oil AND doing an Oil analysis you can track exactly what the health of your extra buck payout is doing or not doing. Either way, even if you only run 10k oil changes, changing the oil filter halfway thru topping off and then sample it (visually) after a good 30 min drive you can SEE with your own eyes how the new filter traps micron damaging components in your oil.
      Then again you can always go cheap. Sure why not spend 30-50k for a new vehicle and then treat it like sheet with oil changes. That works to, right up until it don't.

    A lot of the rusty ones may be coming from overseas getting exposed to moisture or salt air you can see this on a lot of outside yard tools that are in these big box stores like lawnmowers and wood splitters cheap paint and salt air do not mix may be why Toyota decided to make a permanent plastic cartridge
    all ‘s you do is change the filter and seal it

    Use Pennzoil or Amsoil with a wix filter nothing else…. and the last thing you’ll need to worry about is your engine. Spend the extra $25.

    • @ghp0518
      @ghp0518 3 місяці тому

      Well one of the things that matter is the flow rate through the filter, a good filter has a good particle filtration as well as flow rate.
      When the flow rate is below what the vehicle is suppose to have, all things in the engine that depend on oil pressure might not work good enough - chain tensioner for example - you may hear the timing chain rattles because the oil pressure is not enough.

    This is not a proper comparison! This is subjective quality analysis here.
    Proper analysis involves using the same oil. Run vehicle under the same condition, the same amount of time and mileage and then analyzing the engine oil for contaminants.
    The best "look&and feel" or "it looks really quality" may turn to be the worst at actually doing its job.

    Here's an idea, why not just buy the OEM filter for your vehicle? Most are readily available and very cost effective. I use Motorcraft for all my Fords, can still find FL820S and FL400S for about 5 bucks each Wal Mart. Only thing cheaper is the Wal mart brand.......AC Delco too very good price, and all other OEM,s are not that much money, actually many are way below in cost to Napa and Wix.......I'd stick with OEM if you can, why not? Also, no one comparing oil filters seems to talk about the amount of threads or the quality of the cut, this is VERY important, and as for the Motorcrafts, they have oval holes, not round, for way better flow, I have not found ANY AM filter that is like a Motorcraft........just saying, nice review, but OEM is better for me......

    Nate, BIG news...I never knew this. Supertech has TWO main styles, and I dont know how long they've been doing this, but after a couple months of watching filter videos, I just learned if you get a supertech and it has the normal base where the oil fills in, you're getting the good supertech with the metal end-caps holding the filter media. BUT if you go to buy one and you see it has the little ultra thin extra metal on the base of the filter (I"m sorry I don't know how else to describe it), it has the felt or paper end caps like the orange cans of death!!! HUH?? I guess they finally have to get costs down. But I'd rather pay a little more and get the metal end caps, so for my old f-150, I'll probably go with motorcraft if I'm going to cheap out, or buy another napa gold. Who knows. All I know is people should be aware of this if they're considering changing to Supertech like I was. WAS!
