Todd - I really enjoy these videos. I know we are over a year out from the Amsoil/Royal Purple test. Wondering if you have tested Cenex Maxtron? Cenex is a big brand in the upper midwest and plains states.
Love your videos! Any chance of a face off between the V-twin line ups? Say AMSOIL, syn 3, and Mobil 1. I know, kinda specific, but I’d love to see it! Thanks again for the great content!
What makes these tests of yours so significant is that you're not sponsored by any of the companies who's products you test, you use your own testing equipment and methodology and you don't trick the tests. 100% unbiased results.
@@the3rdid485 I think it's good he's not sponsored by the products being tested, I'd be ok with him being sponsored by a company making testing equipment so long as any/all details of said sponsoring were made clear.
I was a Royal Purple distributor until a few years ago. I did the load test for customers, many times. At the time, nothing could come close to RP, but Amsoil and RedLine were the closest. They could carry about 60% of the load that RP could, until the Phalex machine seized the test bearings. I'm glad to see that Amsoil is now equal to and exceeding RP. I'm not loyal to a brand, I'm loyal to my equipment. Thanks for another great test.
Only this isn't a proper comparison. This is Royal Purple's base line oil being compared to Amsoil's Signature Series. Try again using an Amsoil base line oil.
Yes, I did mean Falex. It's been awhile since I had my hands on a machine and forgot the correct spelling. Thank you. Falex is a manufacturer of test equipment. I found the only people that disagreed with the test results were those selling or advocating for competitive oils. Some made the same point as you about the operator, so I let the objector actually run the test. Yes, this is not an ASTM test, it is a field test and as long as it is run correctly, the results are at least as accurate and fair as Project Farm's results.
The oil races are even better than NASCAR nowadays. Great videos, Todd. I often watch alot of them even when I'm not in the market for what you're testing. This is my favorite channel on YT.
also the loss of oil after the temperature test was scored by total loss rather than percentage even though they both started with different amounts. Amsoil started with more so it had a disadvantage but it won anyways so no big deal.
I can see you in the store buying the griddle. Sales person: “This griddle is the best non stick there is.” Project Farm: “That doesn’t matter I only cook oil.” Sale rep: “You mean you only cook with oil.” Project Farm: “No I cook just the oil. Where are your coffee pots?”
I had heard royal purple was “the best” by some peoples anecdotes, and so I started using it in my vehicle. That new and “cooked” cold flow test really blew me away. I might be switching to Amsoil now
I will still continue to use Royal Purple for its detergent/cleaning properties! Engines that are taken apart after using it are unbelievably clean! I have very strict "what to use, what not to use" issues with the BMW M4. I will always still remain mindful of making sure I always give proper warmup time. The cold flow also really surprised me! You cannot go wrong with either of them! More wear/tear will be done via driving style/use/proper abuse VS just coming down to which oil you choose! In conclusion.. this guy goes all out with these tests and its freaking awesome seeing how large his channel and subscriber base has gotton! GREAT STUFF!
@@ProjectFarm Your testing runs with my findings. I bought a 2012 BMW Alpina B7 and alternated Amsoil and RP every 10k miles with a 3k washout in between using BMW recommended Castrol. I gave each oil 5 runs of 10k each so a grand total of 100k testing miles. Results were as follows: Amsoil consistantly had lower burnoff and less metals content in (ppm) than RP. RP had consistently better mpg and carbon buildup(visual inspection of cylinder heads) than Amsoil. I concluded at 140k that each of these oils "proprietary" blend is designed to do something different!!! Amsoil obviously has something in it that increases stability at high temps. RP obviously has something in it that reduces friction. Thanks for posting your findings!
Agree, we need a play off, otherwise how will I know whether to keep using my favorite, or change to a better oil (I just got a new Camero 2SS for which I desire to use the best oil. Was going to spring for Amsoil, but now I'll wait for an overall winner ;)

oil playoff video yes, i will eat some bbq and drink a few beers to that, if only we used bacon grease in our car engines the world would smell great, and the vegans would be walking, perfect.
This is one of the best impartial and ‘real’ tests of any oil products I have seen. Hats off to you sir, made me a believer, wish I would have started looking at these videos sooner.
no matter how good an oil is it still gets dirty which is why I don’t believe in 10k or longer change intervals. it’s better (in my opinion) to do 2 Mobil 1, Pennzoil Ultra, Royal Purple etc. in 10k than 1 Amsoil.
@@emeltea33 It's likely do to the temperture control built into the griddle. It looks like a simple on-off control scheme, so when it turns the heating element on, the heated side of the plate expands, and when it turns off, it contracts.
There are so many independent tests on oil done in Russia I am returning to this video from one where Amsoil showed itself very very poorly in a more advanced and professional test
Great video! I thought Amsoil was better, but didn't think it would win EVERY test. Wow. I've been using AMSOIL on every vehicle I've owned. My current vehicle is a 2002 Toyota Tundra. Over 20+ years and 200k miles - still runs like a top.
@@Artecus Using Amsoil, up to 1 year or 10-12k miles. It is guaranteed for up to 25k, but I don't go that far. It is NOT cheap, but changing less frequently saves me time and energy.
@@EricKearneyMusic How do you feel about changing oil in that long distance interval? I read engineering reports, watch these videos from Scotty Kilmer, the Car Care Nut, who say that modern engines still burn oil, dilute oil with gasoline, which acts as a solvent, score piston cylinders, and still recommend using full synthetic oil but changing every 5,000 miles. I like that you are using Amsoil, I just cannot reconcile that with your distance interval; 10,000 miles seems like a lot of diluted gasoline, burned oil inside. But, you wrote that it saves you from having to change the oil so often, so perhaps for you that is the upside. I change my oil every 4,000 miles, use Valvoline high mileage max life full synthetic, and add a can of oil additive BG MOA PN 115 to it. Maybe I don't quite need to go to Amsoil with my profile?
@@Artecus Let's make sure we're on same page. FULL synthetic is not 100% synthetic. There is a difference. FULL Synthetic is still a blend of synthetic and base oils. AMSOIL is the ONLY oil that is 100% synthetic. I go 10,000 miles or thereabouts, but note that AMSOIL GUARANTEES UP TO 25,000 MILE INTERVALS. If going up that high they recommend their filter, because it catches much smaller particles. I have only had 3 cars (all used) in the last 25 years. The total cost for all 3 was $20,000. I wouldn't do what I do if I was a new car every 3 years kind of guy. I've had my used Tundra now for 16 years. It has been my daily driver the whole time.
You've done this with other products, I imagine this video didn't have it because of testing limitations, not to mention the amount of time this must suck out of your life. It would be hilarious to have these 2 premium products tested in a batch with gas station conventional. Run down to QT or wherever and pick up a bottle of the sludge they have next to the counter and run it next to the big boys. I think it would give some good appreciation of "you get what you pay for" Absolutely amazing videos man, thank you so much for the content!
Dirt in the oil is what wears an engine out, not bad motor oil. I would NEVER go 25k between oil changes regardless of what brand of oil I was using!🤔 Absolutely great video, kudos for all your hard work.
You have to use a Amsoil filter with the signature oils to get the Amsoil warranty (filters filter down to 20 microns that's why the oil can last 25,000 miles)
When I used to build race cars and engines our shop Z06 right around 600whp and 550ftlbs. On the road course mobile 1 lasted 1.5 20 min sessions before breaking down and sending oil temps through the roof. Royal purple lasted 3-4 sessions and redline would go the whole day but not another track day. Amsoil lasted multiple track days including numerous top speed blasts, 1/4 mile passes and normal street driving.
@@matt7sixty yes the signature series. All new engines would get their break in oil for initial start, tuning and the first 500 miles. Then we would switch to the sig series.
The problem I see with this test is he is using RP's entry level API oil and not their mid level or top line oils. Amsoil signature is in the top of Amsoils line up. RP now has HPS their mid level oil and XPR which is their full racing oil. the HPS is the stating point were you get their special additive, since they have been bought out. That means the cheaper API oil off wal-mart or box store auto parts stores do not come with Synerlec®. It also has higher zinc and other additives like the Amsoil.
I’ve been using Amsoil in my high revving Mustang GT350 for almost three years now and feel pretty confident about the engine getting good protection. Running perfect so far with 5k oil changes. Thanks for the test..showing Amsoil is an excellent oil for performance engines.
It would have been interesting to see a third middle grade oil compared to these two top tier oils just to see what we're getting for the extra money. My local parts store told me I was getting scammed buying Amsoil back in 1983. A couple years later they apologized and admitted that they were mistaken. Thanks Todd! Keep up the good work!
You can get away with just about any oil in the correct weight as long as you change it reguraly . I didn't mean to start a war here but if RP is good enough to create a fuss over Amsoil maybe it's at least number 2 . I think Redline has missed the testing phase . It may be up there in the top two . Everybody is putting a lot of cards in one deck with this testing and Farm is pretty good so far . Just saying.
@@Gruntsworth - Depends on what aspect you're measuring. While going a couple of rounds with a "knuckle buster", blood can be just as slick as the nasty greasy crap on everything I'm touching. But before long the blood becomes viscous and actually helps me hang on to the tools. ;^)

These videos on YT are gold. Great wealth of info on Motor Oils! I don't run my 14 Jeep JK hard until I get into driving on the trails. I use AMSOIL, but since the prices are sky high, i might run Amazon Basics Synthetic Oil in my rig until I decide to hit the trails then change back to AMSOIL. I used Amsoil over 10 yrs on my 01 4runner, and prices got ridiculous. about 1.5 yrs ago. I switched to Valvoline Extended with a Napa Platinum filter. My car has 430 K runs smooth.
I just pulled apart a 400k mile engine that's been run on amsoil its entire life and the factory cross hatching was still visible on the cylinder walls!
@@rpanda5269 Amsoil has 20w-50, in fact they have all ranges..., I've been using Amsoil since I got my license in 83', my dad been a dealer since 78'.... Great stuff.. There 2 cycle oil is the best, when my kids race dirt bikes for 6 yrs and every weekend when I open the engines there was no carbon built up compared to other racers where you would have to dremel the carbon build up through the ports....
Amsoil is great stuff. I have a 1988 Escort GT with 389,000 on it now, have used Mobil 1 the entire time. Did a head gasket at 368,000 and still very evident factory hone marks as well. It's all great oil, some is just a little better than the others.

From what I gathered both are excellent and easily the top 2 oils in the world which is why they are compared here. if ur in a colder climate id run amsoil. But for me I live near the equator, so i would get whichever is cheaper. Thats a win win for us and just makes sense for me.
I like Amsoil and currently have it in my truck after years of using RP, But I'll being going back and sticking to Royal Purple after seeing other reviews with Blackstone Oil analysis tests. Royal purple typically has an edge on other brands when it comes down to it. I'll keep it in mind that when I decide to trek up around northern Canada and Alaska to switch back to Amsoil during the winter though.
@@butterytoast4836 I have seen dozens of Oil analysis tests official certified testing labs. AMSOIL beat all the others in 90% of them. Furthermore, running a AMSOIL ByPass Filtration System provides even greater protection & longevity.
Wow, RP got its butt kicked. I do believe it's a good product, but I also believe it may be overrated. Awesome test. I really liked that you tested the flow after cooking too. I believe I suggested that last vid. You def listen to viewers. I am interested in a bracket showdown for oils. Pennzoil and Castrol would be on my list. Keep up the great work!
There's so many comments out there saying Amsoil is just marketing garbage, no doubt by people that don't base their comments on anything. It's great to see your unbiased videos showing some real world results. The used oil flow test was amazing. Something that always seems to be left out about lubrication is the need for excellent filtration. Taking it to a ridiculous level, even Amsoil would not be much good if you have some fine abrasive powder in the oil and it's particle size is small enough to pass right through the filter material. I read a white paper on Amsoil lubrication many years ago and it included a lot of talk about both full flow filtration and bypass filtration. Quality full flow filters with high efficiency and also very low micron bypass filtration, where a small percentage (maybe about 10%) of the main oil flow goes through a bypass filter. That filter even removes small soot particle down to about 2 microns, leaving you with extremely clean oil. I think the aim was to have any wear causing particles smaller than the lubricating oil film thickness. Some engines were getting over 1 million miles with such a setup.
I love your tests. It sort of reminds me of the good old days when I used to read Consumer Reports tests on all kinds of important products. You really do do a great job
There are two major parts of your testing that I appreciate. One - you are using your own money and time. Two - you bring to light facts in an advertising war of who has the most money and can tell the best story to get us to purchase their products. Sometimes the underdog wins the battle and sometimes the big dog wins. Did I mention that I appreciate that you are unbiased? Thank you for what you do.
I ran both RP and Amsoil Marine 10w40 Oils in my supercharged JetSki. It's a harsh environment for an oil to endure because the engine is usually near red line at top speeds, and my boost pressure is 15+ PSI. Plus you need to account for the moisture salt rich environment. Both were ran to 20 hours which is what Kawasaki recommends with samples sent to blackstone labs.. The results were that the RP didn't hold up anywhere near as well as the Amsoil did. The RP lost viscosity as well where the Amsoil didn't. I am not sure if this lines up with your results, but I wouldn't buy RP before this video, and certainly won't after it.. Thank you for doing this test sir..
i always thought amsoil was better i ran royal p a couple of times in my evo 8 but only when i couldn't get amsiol and i have never put it in my evo x only amsiol
Welllllll I guess my oil changes just got a little more expensive haha! It's worth it! Thanks for this video, I've always ran royal purple. Never had a problem with it, but seeing is believing and now I've seen something better ! Much appreciated!
Wow. Thanks Todd. I used to use royal purple in my work vehicles... my 91 f350 was still running strong when I sold it at over 500k kilometers on it. If I can find where to buy amsoil here in BC Canada I'll be using that from now on. I'll still use royal purple in my diff and trans in my e350 van though. Very impressive difference. You guys are crazy. You can't go by this kind of testing. Why do you think us drag racers and those nascar boys run either Maxima oil or Royal Purple oil, you can't get ant better than these on true engine testing. I do like this guy's video and he does a lot of good stuff but this video no.
This man knows how to run a test! Wow, excellent work! I've been using Amsoil products for decades, along with oil analysis at every oil change on all my vehicles with fantastic results. I became a lifetime dealer back in the 80's just so I could buy it at dealer cost as I have zero interest in retail sales. Amway burned me out on on that a long time ago...
I know this is old but I've been running Amsoil fluids for about 15 years now. I do one oil change a year for each car with their fluid and filter combo. Amazing company with amazing products from our great Wisconsin neighbors.
I knew AMSOIL was gonna win from the beginning. I’ve been using and been a dealer for over 10 years. They have oils for every kind of Gas or Diesel engine there is.
@@switlikbob1 That's because BMW made it a one oil car. Not Amsoil's fault, and good on them for not claiming something they haven't tested and BMW hasn't tested.
The thing is, with purple oil it's always going to look dark and I like to see clear, clean oil. It's one of the deciding factors for changing my engine oil even though it's not all that accurate an indicator.
Bro never check old oil life on the deep stick. Use a white paper towel. The color is just to identify from other liquid colors. 2nd engine wear shavings are easier to pick up with darker colors. You can't see the sparkles with the clear as good.
@@ProjectFarm That was going to be my test also. Can you do the bearing test with hot and cold oil also? That is what really matters in protecting an engine, cold starts and continuous use while having the oil lubricating the bearings and other mating surfaces. And as always, thanks for all these videos!!!
@@ProjectFarm This entire series was pretty amazing. Would be nice to see RP HPS stack up against Amsoil Signature. Ive had great success with HPS, but would consider switching if Amsoil beats it.
Make sure you use Amsoil's oil filters too, they don't guarantee their oil will last as long without their filter. It's $15 - $20 but I only have to change the Impala's oil once a year, no big deal. $50 vs anywhere from $100 - $150.
Schaeffers oil should be his next test vs amsoil. I use 3 brands. 1st Schaeffers 2nd Amsoil 3rd if I can’t get hands on one of the above is Royal purple
Please add pennzoil ultra platinum and pennzoil platinum to the roster! Also perhaps liqui-moly engine oil. And I still would love to see testing on No More Friction (NMF) oil additive.
shawn d sounds like you might've had other issues and perhaps the pennzoil's high amount of detergent (from what I hear) loosened up some things? 🤷🏼♂️ I'm guessing your timing chain tensioner blew out because your timing chain was too stretched
What I would like to see as far as oil is concerned: is there a significant difference between regular motor oil and high mileage motor oil. Is it just a sales gimmick or does it really perform as advertised?
Most high mileage oil just means that it has specific purpose additives ie. to help worn rubber seals that are getting leaky after some mileage. Can't say that it performs measurably better but seeing "high mileage" keeps the guy at Walmart with 100k+ from picking some super thin full syn that he'll leak/burn through like crazy
While the oil may work for a long time, oil and dirt make a grinding compound... If the oil filter did a 100 % good job, the oil would not change color. If we had a filter that would take all the dirt and associated color out of the oil, then in my opinion high mileage oils would be a good thing. Things to think about...
You read my mind, when oil is dirty that means there is junk in the oil that can't be good for an engine.I don't follow the manufacturers recommended oil change intervals and that includes full synthetic....at around 3 - 4 k miles I will check my oil and if it's dark and smells dirty..I change it.Most of my driving is around town meaning a lot of stop and go. @@willybee3056

Have you ever tested any Castor racing oils ? Yes, primarily used in racing two stroke engines, but I think the lubricity test will be amazing. Sadly, they are Thicker , like Sae 30 and burn dirty, as well as not flowing well . They can also separate from gas with a lower specific gravity, like the VP 110 that my vintage air cooled two strokes use. How about a two stroke oil test focusing on racing Castor ? Maybe two pure Castors like Blendzall Gold Label and Klotz Be -Nol And two synthetic /Castor blends like Maxima Castor 927 and Klotz R50 Super Techniplate? Instead of the cold flow test , mix each with a race fuel like VP C12 or similar and cool the pre mix to 40 degrees Fahrenheit to see which separates?
I tell you what, I put amsoil in my van, and it started over hearing due to other problems. I KNOW my engine reached 230-240 degrees. The oil was pretty cooked and had a bit of a varnish type of smell. I didn't blow my head gasket, and this engine was overheated at least 5 times. Changed the oil, of course. I highly recommend Amsoil.

I use full synthetic in my 91.5 Dodge Cummins and gained 1/2 mpg running mountain interstate 18,000 lbs but our 96 5.9 gas didn't like synthetic so it gets 40 weight non synthetic and picked up 1 mpg but I do use Lucas oil additive synthetic and regular in both vehicles maybe overkill but they use less than 1/2 quart between 5000 mile oil changes and these vehicles are not babied running the Appalachian mountains
Used to swear by it for turbo vehicles******** They removed the zinc and some other additives in the rotella t6 so it's not as good for turbo vehicles anymore.

Thank you!
Only this isn't a proper comparison. This is Royal Purple's base line oil being compared to Amsoil's Signature Series. Try again using an Amsoil base line oil.

Yeah, I did the same.
Thanks for posting your findings!

no matter how good an oil is it still gets dirty which is why I don’t believe in 10k or longer change intervals. it’s better (in my opinion) to do 2 Mobil 1, Pennzoil Ultra, Royal Purple etc. in 10k than 1 Amsoil.

weird flex but ok
I saw it too! Was curious if that was actual? Can't think of why not, just expansion and contraction I'd guess.
@@emeltea33 It's likely do to the temperture control built into the griddle. It looks like a simple on-off control scheme, so when it turns the heating element on, the heated side of the plate expands, and when it turns off, it contracts.

I've been using AMSOIL on every vehicle I've owned. My current vehicle is a 2002 Toyota Tundra. Over 20+ years and 200k miles - still runs like a top.
Thanks for the feedback.
How often do you change the oil in the Tundra?

@@matt7sixty I have not. I don't think it was out at the time.

Thanks!

But how one oil for 1 year ? How many miles u running?
@@bahrozgalaly5662 I've ran it to 15k but I usually do 10k or a year. I should have clarified that, I don't put on a ton of miles.
@@bahrozgalaly5662 10-15k a year. I have a few cars I alternate between so none of them see a lot of miles.
Oil playoff of conventional oils and then a playoff for synthetic oils.
Great job Project Farm! Keep it going!
Thank you for the video idea!
I knew AMSOIL was gonna win from the beginning. I’ve been using and been a dealer for over 10 years. They have oils for every kind of Gas or Diesel engine there is.
False, not the 3.2L 6 -cyl Engine S54 B32
@@switlikbob1 That's because BMW made it a one oil car. Not Amsoil's fault, and good on them for not claiming something they haven't tested and BMW hasn't tested.
Scamoil is marketing oil. So much marketing its costs you 9-14$ a quart 🤣. I love it when guys say "its saving me money". Makes me chuckle every time.
Overpriced for what you get
The thing is, with purple oil it's always going to look dark and I like to see clear, clean oil. It's one of the deciding factors for changing my engine oil even though it's not all that accurate an indicator.
Thanks for the feedback.
Agreed. My odometer has been broken since my manual trans swap and I always use the oil color as an indicator
That's exactly why I stopped using Royal Purple. You can't gauge how burnt or dirty it is, they should have tinted a light purple instead maybe???
And especially when I used Arco Graphite Oil a long time ago. But with the diesel we now drive, the oil turns black rather quickly!
Bro never check old oil life on the deep stick. Use a white paper towel. The color is just to identify from other liquid colors. 2nd engine wear shavings are easier to pick up with darker colors. You can't see the sparkles with the clear as good.
You should do the bearing test again after the oil is burned.. I’m curious! Love these videos tho👍🏼
Great recommendation! Thank you
@@ProjectFarm That was going to be my test also.
Can you do the bearing test with hot and cold oil also? That is what really matters in protecting an engine, cold starts and continuous use while having the oil lubricating the bearings and other mating surfaces.
And as always, thanks for all these videos!!!
No need, even the cooked, used amsoil will beet royal purples new oil.
@@ProjectFarm This entire series was pretty amazing. Would be nice to see RP HPS stack up against Amsoil Signature. Ive had great success with HPS, but would consider switching if Amsoil beats it.
@@ProjectFarm did you ever do a beating test
Royal purple is good, but facts are facts. I'm going to Amzoil now.
Thank you
Amzoil is the Mary Kay of oil
Make sure you use Amsoil's oil filters too, they don't guarantee their oil will last as long without their filter. It's $15 - $20 but I only have to change the Impala's oil once a year, no big deal. $50 vs anywhere from $100 - $150.
Schaeffers oil should be his next test vs amsoil. I use 3 brands.
1st Schaeffers
2nd Amsoil
3rd if I can’t get hands on one of the above is Royal purple
@@waynewilliams5353 not many people know about that oil, mad respect
Please add pennzoil ultra platinum and pennzoil platinum to the roster! Also perhaps liqui-moly engine oil. And I still would love to see testing on No More Friction (NMF) oil additive.
Great recommendation!
Pennzoil Platinum and Ultra Platinum.
Did 2 oil changes with Pennzoil pure synthetic. Engine began to run extremely loud and my cam tensioner blew out. Stopped using it.
shawn d sounds like you might've had other issues and perhaps the pennzoil's high amount of detergent (from what I hear) loosened up some things? 🤷🏼♂️ I'm guessing your timing chain tensioner blew out because your timing chain was too stretched
Im really impressed with your ability to not spill a drop of oil. Thanks for the video
Thanks and you are welcome!

Thanks for the reply.
Back In the 50s, when a car was junk at 60k miles, dad ran a garage, and would recommend that oil should be changed every 3k miles.
I started out when Valvolen Racing was 50 cents a quart. I have had 3 cars that had 250k miles when I sold them.
Any how,,, thanks for the reply. ....
Can u please test Amsoil Signature vs. Amsoil XL vs. Amsoil OE. Really like what you are doing, dont stop!
Thank you for the video idea!
Yes that would be cool
Also Amsoil European Car Formula please!!
Would also like to see that.
Do you have a summary of how these stack up against the Mobil 1 / Amazon oil test? Great content as usual!
Thanks for sharing.
Would it be worth doing a lubricity test on the cooked oil? Maybe to simulate the affects due to an extremely late oil change?
Great recommendation. I'll do this in round 2 of the series.
Project Farm We would like to see a show down of our additive “Metal Conditioner” VS other additives. For ordering email us at Prolubeinc@aol.com or call our 7408862714 thanks and keep up the great work!

Great recommendation!
@Ibrahim I'd add valvoline maxlife in there too
And motul
Thats a good one, I was impressed with the Amazon oil in the last test
yeah he should do like a bracketed tournament of oils
Thanks for doing that test. I’ve been using Amzoil oil and filters for 20 years. I’m happy with the results so far.

Is it worth the money in your experience?
Sounds like you're well overdue for an oil change.

I just switched to Royal Purple and noticed an improvement in how smooth my engine runs, Gonna have to try Amsoil next!

You should test shell rotella since everyone that uses it in their gasoline engine swears by it
I use full synthetic in my 91.5 Dodge Cummins and gained 1/2 mpg running mountain interstate 18,000 lbs but our 96 5.9 gas didn't like synthetic so it gets 40 weight non synthetic and picked up 1 mpg but I do use Lucas oil additive synthetic and regular in both vehicles maybe overkill but they use less than 1/2 quart between 5000 mile oil changes and these vehicles are not babied running the Appalachian mountains
Used to swear by it for turbo vehicles******** They removed the zinc and some other additives in the rotella t6 so it's not as good for turbo vehicles anymore.
@@Kyrazlan They did something to it. That shit flattened my cam in 2 weeks. Was chasing lash till I changed the oil and ticked horribly bad. When I changed it out it stopping grinding my cam but still ticked a tiny bit but it was already fucked. Never again T6, I wouldn't even use it in a oil burning stove.
Brotella lol.
I have rotella T6 in my boosted car right now - a lot of people have said it's not as good but it seems to do the trick at 500+hp
Again thank you brother for all your time, effort and money you put into these tests,, they certainly are appreciated,
I think the tests you conduct or down to earth, out of climate controlled corporate laboratory, real world results,, keep up the good work man!!!

Yes thanks I love your blogs. People complain about this and that to you or others but they don’t lift a finger and try anything like this in themselves and videotape it so again thanks for the hard and great testing stuff thanks man
For the vaporization and mass test, rather than comparing the weight lost for each, you should compare a percent loss. For this test the AMS oil had a change of 0.82% and the Royal Purple changed by 1.07%.
Thank you for the video idea!
Yes these videos help out alot when choosing an oil for your motor .
I've always used Lucas synthetic 20w-50
So far it's done well for my bike .
I will definitely be trying some ams oil when i get a new bike forsure.
Thanks for all the hard work to make these videos.

I have been using Amsoil in my 2002 7.3L Diesel Excursion right after I watched the dealer install the wrong oil on the first oil change. Still going strong and since installing an FS2500 oil bypass filter, even better. The FS2500 was about the only one available when installing the bypass filter in those early days. 👍👍👍. 12-21-21

Royal purple was what was in my 3000GT when it spun bearings in the middle of the winter. I'm not saying it was Royal Purples fault.... but I now use Amsoil after discovering it just over a year ago. I never used Royal Purple again.
Btw... lifter tick is common in the 3000GT. Mike was no exception and had it pretty bad... even the new engine. After using Amsoil... lifter tick is no longer an issue at all.

Can you bring in oils like Liqui-Moly and Motul for the next test.
I second motul!
Yes motul!
How bout Mazda OEM full synthetic w/moly vs Castrol Magnetec ? castrol claims to have enough moly additive but when asked they wouldnt tell me how much. a blackstone oil lab showed mazda oil had over twice the moly yet mazda still uses castrol in their service dept when you get an oil change!!
A. Dange ... YES, I'd like to see Motul also!! It's supposed to be a GREAT German oil.
Second on the Liqui-Moly!!

I would flip flop the mock bearings to eliminate a discrepancy in material hardness.
Also showing the percentage difference would show how varied the difference really is.
