@@bestofthebeastlikebeast3754 The crossbow is nice, since with green and gold armor, you get homing arrows, but those same homing arrows could get you in trouble if an enemy was closing in, and the arrow that sometimes would stay homing a bit wasn't coming after that approaching enemy. Very tough to use on the ghost ship when ghosts would quickly spawn where you were.
I think it could have brogught the franchise back if it wasn’t in such a flop of a system. Considering a ton of old franchise are being successfully revived these days, hopefully Ghouls n’ Ghosts becomes one of them
PSP games look damn good when rendered at a higher resolution. Damn shame that there is no official/non-emulation way to achieve this. Even PSP TV is scaled up and fugly.
This game still looks way better than the flash style animation in Ghost & Goblins Resurrection. The 3D was hard to get used to back in the day but it definitely grows on you and stands the test of time. The ending is awesome in this game.
Other then the mighty Maximo games for the PS2. Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins is the pinnacle of the series. Ultimate was cuts above Resurrection. My biggest problem with it was the length. There should have been one or two more levels. They were banking on the backtracking to extend the length of the game, and it does to some extent and still works, but it could have benefited from more environments. The background details were nice and that second level progression from a high intensity storm to a surreal cave with glowing hair was brilliantly developed. That’s easily the most creative part of the game and it’s obvious they were having fun with it. Resurrection is comparatively flat, both literally and tonally.
