Scott Sherrod was absolutely the best pick for Little Feat..Been following Scott since he lead the Gregg Allman band..If you haven't seen his Band Of Gypsys & Laid Back tribute your missing out..He's extremely versatile & can handle any genre of music ( all the ones I like anyway)..Great interview, Thanks🍑
I started watching this and about 15 minutes in I went down a rabbit hole that ended up with me playing guitar pretty much all day. Thank you for that. Now I'm back to watch the rest.
Your comment was as inspirational to me as the video was to you. I just need a new guitar first. I'm a tool maker but I have a slightly handicapped wife and a 6 year old, so paying 600 for my dream guitar a used Epiphone 1959 they came out with a little while ago, is a little out of the question, lol. But you know as well as me how it is to have a bad itch for a guitar, especially now that winter is coming to Wisconsin. Just wanted to say thank you for the inspiration. I can honestly say that your comment will stick with me for as long as I am able. Keep on Jammin'
Little Feat will always hold a special place in my heart because a very long time ago when I was young they let me sit in the studio on Lankershim Blvd. and just listen. I was nobody, just some kid who was walking by the studio and heard music, which I loved and still do...
Feat are the best band of all-time, grew up listening to them and are super influential for me- I must of sat in my room for hours learning their material and finding tones. Love these guys- often think of what lowell would be like today and always imagine how cool it would/would of been to have met Ritchie, Bill, Sam, Paul, Kenny, Fred and lowell. theres somthing very special about little feat, really connecting. Thanks guys for the inspiration and endless love for your music! Doing a great job Scott🙌 Waiting for the Ry Cooder rig rundown!😎🔥
Growing up out here in western Oklahoma "Little Feet ” are absolutely legendary. Bol you do an incredible job on these. Everybody can tell how much you respect the players. It's in your every line. Don't ever stop. Either of you
No2 pencils have the best tone IMO ..Little Feat is my all time favorite and so awesome that Scott has 'joined the band'. Actually saw this show at the Ryman! Woohoo!
Wish there was an in depth Paul interview somewhere. Loved his playing writing singing…SO instrumental in keeping the band rolling and musically true to the original intention❤
Well...not really that incredible when they both lived in southern California and the guitars prolly never left California so....yeah. Pro's like them have access to these prizes.
21:00 every pundit online: “late 70s Fender amps with the boost and master volume are garbage.” Real musician who owned a Hendrix strat and touring with a vintage 64 DR: “so I added a boost and master volume.” 😂
LOVE THAT JIMI BLACK STRAT STORY! Used to jam with Tony S. who claimed to be Jimis cousin. He also had a black one he claimed was Jimis. He was the musical director of the Drifters in late 1999 I found a 66 complete original Deluxe reverb that I love playn a 50 s Strat thru. Fred is Soooo down to earth nice!
Saw these guys live last year. They are killing it!! Scott is a real badass. Ive gotten to chat with scott after his solo gigs & he is the nicest dude.
I think some of that sound was because of the mic on that camera. A lot of what they played sounded like it was just the camera mic, which doesn’t pick up as much low end.
Yep. Scott has often pointed out that all those classic albums of the 60s and 70s were played on Slnkys (.10s) or super slinky (.09s). There's the famous story about Billy Gibbons telling BB King he was playing .12s, and BB told him "Oh, man, you're working too hard." Now Billy plays .08s, .09s for slide. So Scott likes to play his amps a little hot (Deluxe at 8, if memory serves), and pick a little light, to get better dynamics - he will also change where he is picking (closer or further from the bridge) to get different sounds. All that is easier with lighter gauge strings - and if you aren't bashing away on the strings, the volume comes from the amp, not the pickups, so it's a different dynamic. It's analogous to what Tim Pierce says - that nothing sounds better than playing soft on a cranked amp. When Scott was playing with Gregg, he started playing .095s as a compromise when he was using only his 336 and playing both with picks and with slide on the same setup. With Feat, Scott has more guitar options, and more slide responsibilities, so he alters his setups accordingly. But solo, his rig was 336 with D'Addario .095s, coily cord - Strobostomp - Zendrive - Deluxe/Princeton/Super depending on the gig - sometimes a DejaVibe. He's also subbed in the Custom BadAss OD for awhile after Jack Pearson turned him onto it. I'm not surprised he's switched to the Klons since he's currently in love with single coils - but that Zendrive with Humbos is still my favorite tone. Sorry, TMI I know, but when I get talking...
@@rickhimes ahh fair enough man. My super bass just doesn’t have as much gain when I play 9s. Went back to 10s because of it. Also I feel I can’t play hard on 9s so actually reduces dynamics that way. Just my finding though.
Lol you are such a bad sport. I see you leave these comments trashing John on so many videos. Get a life! What kind of massive dork has to leave these nasty comments on every video 🤡
The gentleman repeats twice that there are Wizz Pickups in the guitar, but he is not interested in that, there is nothing to ask him about it, and we all know that he knows and has heard of Wizz Pickups, but because it is not an American or English manufacturer, the character does not want them on purpose to mention, what a shame, really poor, shameful and obvious. You came to do a show with a guitarist and his guitars and then you don't ask him anything about the pickups he uses and we all know how important that is. This was really broken and disappointing!!!!

Not many people have the chops to be in Little Feat but Scott Sharrard does!

Ah, this was gold! Fred and Scott, such great players!
The little red pedal on Fred's board is a JHS Mini Bomb Boost
I figured it had to be something like that. Josh builds good stuff!
Great interview Fred. Nice to see you out and about.

Great musician and way more important to the band than he gets credit for imho

Oh fuck yeah, wasn’t expecting this. I’ve seen them quite a few times and they always kick serious ass
Wow, that Jimi Hendrix strat story is incredible.
Please don’t be jealous

Listening to Little Feat is like dining at Emeril’s. 5 Stars down the menu.
Absolutely!!

Dixie Chicken lived on my turntable in 1973 and all their other albums lived close by.......GREAT Rig Rundown.....Fred Tacketts amp is somethin else!
That shrunken 335 sounds awesome.
so together and sharp!

We saw them last month at the Warner Theater in DC and it was awesome, once again. These guys are so relaxed yet so professional up there.
Love the Heritage p-90. Made in Kalamazoo
Very very inspiring. And again facilitated by The Master.

Worth noting the mic on Fred's Deluxe Reverb is a Roswell Mini K47. There is also a Roswell Mini K67 on Scott's Two-Rock on this tour. Great mics!
They are both Roswell Mini K67s. The one on Fred's amp looks like the Mini K47 because it shares the metalwork as it is an early prototype
John - why didn't you ask what kind of pickup he was using on the mandolin?
Scott is awesome
omg, that intro. The closest I've heard an electric sounding like an acoustic Dobro!
I think some of that sound was because of the mic on that camera. A lot of what they played sounded like it was just the camera mic, which doesn’t pick up as much low end.
Fred's resume is pretty frikki cool.
FEAT!!! Love'n this!
Fred's sporting a Breakestra tour jacket
Damn, that Heritage sounds as good as any guitar I've ever heard
Great rundown!
Agree! John knows how to do it.
Did you ask him what it was like to play with Dylan on the Slow Train Coming tour? One of the only questions that matters, really.
Could someone tell me the pickups in the burst and the red strats? Lace, EMG?
Getting myself a pencil.
I saw Alvin Lee use a drumstick to do the same thing.
I’ll bet Fred has forgotten or can’t tell some of the best stories in music history.
What I would give to own one of jimis stage played guitars....😅
Awsome
I guess i'm kate to the party...but man i'm just in love with Little Feat!!!
