I'm a professional character designer that utilizes fashion in my designs, and the 2nd one is more aesthetically pleasing because of the dark>light>dark value break up, and big to small silhouette--but the skinnier pant leg is just outdated so most people are going to choose the more current wider/baggier pants look.

As a character designer my eye was drawn more to the second outfit because it had more contrast, shape differences, and areas of rest while the first seemed to blur together in a way where I couldn't understand the focal point or intention of the look. Which I suppose is the intention! Both are good outfits! I love watching gen z fashion sense evolve and I'm excited to see what the next young group considers aesthetic. I hope I never get tired of trying out new outfit combos and styles as I get older too
I think being aesthetically pleasing literally means how much overall the outfits matches in multiple different aspects, like color, texture, size and shape etc.
I actually disagree a little. I think the use of symetrical contrasting fabrics, texture, shape etc creates more visual interest and makes something more aesthetically pleasing than homogenous constrction

I first started joining the ranked lobbies of style last year and my younger brother has made fun of me relentlessly. Now that I’ve grown quite a bit and he too has matured… a little, he is constantly asking me for old clothes and style tips and I personally want to thank you for everything I’ve learned thus far. 👍
My take: Outfit #2 is more aesthetically pleasing because of the contrast in colors and structure, and it visually puts the focus on the jacket, particularly the photo on the jacket. The small pops of orange give a bit of visual interest and the weight + amount + color choice of the textures compliment each other. Outfit #1 - I like the concept, but I would have executed it differently. I like the jacket, but it’s a bit busy for the pants- the texture is flat/too light, and the pattern, as well as the greyish undertone takes away from the outfit and it doesn’t contrast nicely with the saturated darker portion on the bottom Because of the texture of the pants, I would have gone for a more of a chunky knit oversized fisherman sweater to play up the contrasting textures and give it an overall more cozy feel, or to simplify it, paired it with a sweatshirt so that the focus is on the corduroy. Or if I wanted to utilize the jacket, I would have leaned more into the lighter tone in the jacket for the monotone color, or gone with textures that are less heavy.
That's how I view it, but mostly because I only want one piece to stand out as opposed to having alot. Shoes can be an exception, but if I'm wearing a sick jacket I'll wear other basic but matching/aesthetic colors to complement it.

I find both outfits aesthetically pleasing. In the 1st it's the monochromatic color pallete, that works for any outfit, design, photo etc. It's classic. But the 2nd has better proportions and the contrast of black and light tones draws your eye.

A few other people were saying this and I'm glad I found them because I was starting to think something was weird about my fashion sense. The more a person is used to thinking about things, the more meaning they will by default be looking to find in clothing. That's why the typical "easy to digest" fits might not do it for people who are in the habit of thinking a lot. It doesn't necessarily mean they're smarter or more intelligent, but I do think that those of us who look for meaning in everything do so with clothes as much as anything else, so when an outfit doesn't feel very meaningful or well thought out, our minds work harder than necessary to find something that isn't there.
The reason some colors work well together is the same reason that some music notes work well together. It's all about ratios. The brain tends to like simple ratios like 3:2 or 5:4 and tends to dislike complex ratios like 17:9. Colors are just light frequencies that have ratios against eachother, same with music notes. Orange and blue are in a 3:2 ratio, that's why they look so well together
Unpopular take: the 2nd outfit follows the “rules of fashion” better. The 2nd fit is slimming, as the dark tee elongates your torso, The rolled cuffs create a break-point, making you look taller, The slimmer fit of the pants is a good balance for the boxy bomber jacket.... The first outfit has no isn’t offensive, but the pants are too long and overall the outfit lacks contrast.
This is just the biggest example of how fashion is subjective. I 100% agree with you. But I think the younger generation have a different idea of what they think is "more aesthetic".

Idk if a song can be 'aesthetically pleasing', before the word 'aesthetic' became a buzz word in the late 2010s, 'aesthetic' was really only used to refer to visual mediums. I remember first learning about the word aesthetic in art school in like 2012 and now its really commonly used.
Aesthetics is the branch of philosophy that studies art and beauty, and that's where the word comes from, so I think it's perfectly valid to use it for music

I think the one word that best makes aesthetic is cohesive. The colors in outfit 1 were better green tones. The idea of cohesive is deeper than color. We have to include cohesive textures, cuts, colors etc

I definitely did not think the first one was more aesthetically pleasing, my eye immediately went to option 2. The visual contrast of the black against the green works way better for me than the monochromatic fit. It also creates more defined silhouettes by carving shapes out of the green jacket. The thing about aesthetics is it’s a balance between harmony and discord between the “aesthetically pleasing” and the edgy. Between peace and clashing. It’s like sometimes you want that stank other times you want something sweet or maybe you want to mix the two you got to find your own balance.
Also you got to go bigger not just explaining senses and science. Don’t just explore the nature explore nurture. Why do we consider some harmonies as happy or sad or unified or wistful or angry ect. We have cultural associations and baggage with pitch harmony melody and colors and outfits too. Like explaining why your brain hears what it hears doesn’t explain why you like it or what it means to you. Why are some chords “pleasing” in part due to brain stuff yes but no one believes that is all it is otherwise we would all agree on the “best” of something.
Even though i personally like 2 i can understand why they choose 1. Its their age. 2 is definitely something that was "aesthetically pleasing" back in mid 2000s. Peaked at around 2008 and slowly went out of style around 2017ish. Its definitely something that a hipster would wear in bushwick around 2010. 1. So before I watched the whole video I think aesthetically pleasing outfits are due to a combination of color palette choices, and ability to wear contouring pieces of different sizes. It’s like how we wouldn’t wear a tight fitted shirt with skinny jeans, you’d want contrast to make the outfit pop, but also want the tones of the pieces in a way to sort of balance each other out. That was my first thought. Also, outfit number 1.

I just want to share my thoughts and inputs about looking "Aesthetically pleasing " . i general , People do have that Innate nature of thinking to cope with every possible situation and scenarios they currently experience. In fashion , those type of people have creative minds and make fits accordingly to be Aesthetically Pleasing to them and to others. I personally think it's objectiveness is attainable by having a clear and wide understanding of their surroundings to cope in every situation as possible. Maybe it's still not clear but Aesthetically Pleasing fits/creatives = Critical thinking skills. Idk if a song can be 'aesthetically pleasing', before the word 'aesthetic' became a buzz word in the late 2010s, 'aesthetic' was really only used to refer to visual mediums. I remember first learning about the word aesthetic in art school in like 2012 and now its really commonly used.

Aesthetics is the branch of philosophy that studies art and beauty, and that's where the word comes from, so I think it's perfectly valid to use it for music
@@Bateo16 I've just never heard it used applied to music, academically at least. When my professors would try to explain what "Aesthetically pleasing" meant they would describe it as something pleasing to the eye. So an outfit, a painting, a sculpture, architecture, furniture etc can all be aesthetically pleasing but idk if I would say a song could be lol. Of course music evokes beauty and emotion but you can't really say its pleasing to the eye.

I think the one word that best makes aesthetic is cohesive. The colors in outfit 1 were better green tones. The idea of cohesive is deeper than color. We have to include cohesive textures, cuts, colors etc
It's interesting, cause I feel that cohesiveness is also what makes storytelling most aesthetically pleasing to me

I definitely did not think the first one was more aesthetically pleasing, my eye immediately went to option 2. The visual contrast of the black against the green works way better for me than the monochromatic fit. It also creates more defined silhouettes by carving shapes out of the green jacket. I'm also an illustrator and not a fashion guru so what the fuck do I know

The thing about aesthetics is it’s a balance between harmony and discord between the “aesthetically pleasing” and the edgy. Between peace and clashing. It’s like sometimes you want that stank other times you want something sweet or maybe you want to mix the two you got to find your own balance.
Also you got to go bigger not just explaining senses and science. Don’t just explore the nature explore nurture. Why do we consider some harmonies as happy or sad or unified or wistful or angry ect. We have cultural associations and baggage with pitch harmony melody and colors and outfits too. Like explaining why your brain hears what it hears doesn’t explain why you like it or what it means to you. Why are some chords “pleasing” in part due to brain stuff yes but no one believes that is all it is otherwise we would all agree on the “best” of something.

Even though i personally like 2 i can understand why they choose 1. Its their age. 2 is definitely something that was "aesthetically pleasing" back in mid 2000s. Peaked at around 2008 and slowly went out of style around 2017ish. Its definitely something that a hipster would wear in bushwick around 2010.

The gap hoodie fits pretty perfect, almost snug actually. I’m 5 11 180 and got a medium and it fits very nice but since it’s cropped a large honestly might have been the move. Still love it, it’s my favorite hoodie

So before I watched the whole video I think aesthetically pleasing outfits are due to a combination of color palette choices, and ability to wear contouring pieces of different sizes. It’s like how we wouldn’t wear a tight fitted shirt with skinny jeans, you’d want contrast to make the outfit pop, but also want the tones of the pieces in a way to sort of balance each other out. That was my first thought. Also, outfit number 1.

I just want to share my thoughts and inputs about looking "Aesthetically pleasing " .
i general , People do have that Innate nature of thinking to cope with every possible situation and scenarios they currently experience. In fashion , those type of people have creative minds and make fits accordingly to be Aesthetically Pleasing to them and to others. I personally think it's objectiveness is attainable by having a clear and wide understanding of their surroundings to cope in every situation as possible.
Maybe it's still not clear but Aesthetically Pleasing fits/creatives = Critical thinking skills.
It's basically hard and close to impossible to be "Aesthetically Pleasing " Since everyone has their own subjective opinion about fits and other things in life.
