What a great video! Love how you explain your steps, however I did my first geode with an epic fail 😢. Hopefully, the next one will come out better. Thank you for taking the time to do the video.
Thank you! What happened? Believe me when I say that I have fails quite frequently, but the beauty with resin is that you can always hide mistakes with other layers, etc. Don't give up. You got this!
@@RinirocksArtistry Question: In the mixing of the paints, can you just use Liquitex paints and resin? I used some paints that I had already mix about 2 weeks ago. The paints had floetrol and Liquitex medium mixed together. I noticed the paints were stretchy and gummy sorta. I also used a Gold metallic by DecoArt. I didn't used anything in that but resin. The mixture was really gummy. Don't know what I did wrong. The paints weren't runny just a little thick and a little hard to spread. Please help....
@@aprilking8092 I think it was the fact that the paints were mixed with floetrol and medium. I only use straight paint and only 10%. If you add more then you run the risk of flash curing. As for the Metallic Gold it may be that you used too much. Also, I find that I get better effects when I combine paints with micas. The paint is heavier than the mica and so more celling action happens. Hope this helps 😊
@@RinirocksArtistry Yes, I think it was the paints being mixed. I'm a newbie at this. I also probably used too much gold paint. So I need to use micas powders combined with acrylics and resin to achieve the runnier look? You've been a big help!❤
I’m so glad I saw your post in the group.. then I searched your name on UA-cam and found your channel. I’m in awe of this box cover.. it stunning. May I ask you the brand of paints you used and did you use any type of flow medium. I’m just starting acrylic painting and pouring. 💕💕🦋
Thank you for teaching very grateful. is the consistency of the resin important?, I am just trying this technique and my colours blended. I didn’t keep the colour separated so lesson learnt from your video. I am thinking that maybe that is what went wrong.
Thank you so much! Yes, I let my resin sit for a bit to thicken before pouring. I also don't use a heatgun as much when making geode designs. Just a light torch will do.
Hi Karen, I've never had an issue with the glass being sharp enough to cause injury. Make sure not to use "regular glass" but rather use vase filler which does not have sharp edges. That being said, good idea about a disclaimer!!

@@aprilking8092 you can use either or. I just like to use a combination of paints and micas (mixed separately) in my art.
Fantastico
Thank you ❤️

Thank you! This is done with Micas and resin 🤗

I love your art are you Canadian I am live in Ont.
Yes I am! I live in BC 🙂. Thanks so much!
Love it ! Do you make to sell?
Yes, I do.
How much you would charge for the art you just make
It depends really but a good rule of thumb is material costs + hourly wage= x 3.
Do you ever worry about the glass being sharp? Do you put a disclaimer?
