(471) Resin Geode in Black, Gold and White! Resin Art Pouring Technique

  • I pulled out my resin and decided to try a resin geode! I definitely need to work on my shapes within the paintings, but this was really fun. i used white and black acrylic paint, gold mica powder, glass pieces, mirrored shards and stones. I used East Coast resin, mixed it up and added it to the paint and the gold mica. I added the stones and glass first and then added the colored resin in different places. I will be doing more of these and work in some other beautiful colors in the future!

    This is stunning!! I am going to try my first resin pour. Did you prime the canvas with anything? The stones did u use resin or adhesive before putting it on? Couldn’t see what the clear liquid was. And with resin pouring you don’t need to finish it with clear resin in the end like you would if you did acrylic pouring alone? Correct? Sorry for all the questions this is only my second time painting and loved this so went to incorporate it in. Thanks a bunch!!!! Amazing job xox

      I used a wood surface and primed it with plain white primer. I used resin to adhere the stone and glass chips to the wood. I did not finish it with clear resin but that is something that you can always do.

      @@amandasdesignsofficial thank you so much for responding. Now last question if you dont mind lol. Is it necessary to go back in with a second coat of reason if you already mixed your paints with resin and poured them on? • @amandasdesignsofficial
      @amandasdesignsofficial  4 роки тому +4

      It may have been sticky if you used too much paint. You only want about 10% paint to 90% resin. Too much paint will ruin the resin.

    • @amandasdesignsofficial

    First time watching..liked your technique with the glass and resin pour. I saw an answer to a question I was going to ask so just to be sure.. the ratio of mixing paint into resin is 10%-paint to 90%-resin. Does that hold for any type of paint and resin mix. What’s the ratio of mica, glitter, or gold leaf to resin to use as an additive in resin. Lots of questions., sure hope you don’t mind, I’m definitely a newbie to resin pours. I’m on to watching more of your videos. 👏👏👏👏🎄🎄🎄🦋

    • @amandasdesignsofficial
      @amandasdesignsofficial  3 роки тому +2

      Hi Sandra, yes the 10% paint to 90% resin is for all paint. If you add too much paint, it will ruin the resin (I've done it and it thickens up and hardens super quickly and was unusable). For the mica pigments, I do about the same. Mica and glitter go a long way but you can test it out and see what ratios you like this those. The resin does not get ruined since they are not acrylic based like the paint is.

    Amazing work,i love it🥹🤍 I want to make one for my sister’s new house. So, what can I use instead of the heat gun?

      A kitchen torch would work but I don't think a hair dryer would get hot enough like the heat gun.

      Thank you! The white is a fluid acrylic paint and the gold is Mehron mica powder.
