Well done sir for exposing these fraudsters, we should be using trusted suppliers, too much business is going to amazon. Smaller local businesses need a chance to earn a living.
They don't care, neither do the police. That's why ebay and amazon are rife with scammers, they know nothing will happen. The company selling ebay official packaging ALWAYS sent out around 10% less than was ordered. Order 1000 labels, packing bags etc. and you'll more then likely get 900. Nothing new, it's been going on for decades, they know nobody is going to bother counting 1000 labeled on a roll, 1000 bags, 1000 sheets of paper or envelopes etc.
😮 that's absolutely shocking ripping people off like that and the thing is you trust these sellers (especially based on their seller feedback) so glad you have brought this to people's attention 👍

I always measure out 1 metre of bubblewrap, cut it off, and weigh it. Then, I weigh the remaining roll and divide that by the weight of the metre I cut off. I often find that I only receive about 65 metres. However, Amazon is usually good about addressing complaints and refunds.

I ordered some solar lights of Zbay, it clearly stated and showed FOUR lights. I got 1 light. I complained to Zbay , but in the meantime the seller had updated the wording so Zbay said no problems. I ordered more from other sellers but also asked HOW MANY LIGHT UNITS, these came as ordered, FOUR, and for the same price of the seller who sent ONE. Looked at the reviews and plenty of people saying they had ony received ONE fitting. Most of the scams can be detected and avoided but when the order receipt says 4 units, you should get 4 units.
Have always bought postal stamps on Amazon, 1st class. Recently sent a friend a birthday card, it arrived with a yellow sticker and fine as the stamps were deemed fake?!! Terribly embarrassing. Incredibly, the PO don't want to know, they tell cheated customers to take it up with Amazon. Wonder if the Inland Revenue would be so happy to lose out in this way?
Thanks for sharing. Just a suggestion, if you do something similar again, try weighing it first, at least then you know if it is likely to be anywhere close. You have the trusted one to compare it to.
Problem with comparing weight of one roll to another is that it’s manufactured to a specific amount of grams per square meter, different sellers may run the machines at a different GSM and therefore produce a thicker/thinner roll but you would need to know this to make the comparison (ie they could both have a completely different weight and still both be 100m).
This is one of the reasons why I never buy bubble wrap: Instead I save the wrap that my orders get shipped in, and use _that_ if I need to. Not practical for eBay sales I admit, but when I used to trade there - Before eBay started turning into a platform where it was _all eBay_ and who the seller was no longer mattered - I would often create transit boxes using recycled cardboard (Usually neighbours Amazon boxes) with impact protection built-in, significantly reducing the amount of bubble wrap that I needed. 👍 Even for a ceramic item (Which isn't a category I ever sold in) a layer of bubble wrap, then some newspaper, then an outer box with some void space between the padded bundle and the exterior works wonders against most knocks. Never had a single _Received damaged_ case in my entire eBay career! 😁
Wonderful! I have challenged myself and sent breakables without using bubblewrap at all, didn’t have any problems with those but not something I’d want to risk too often.
more people need to get in the habbit of checking things when received and opening a return/dispute when not as described. not so convinient with things like bubble wrap but usually easy with small things like cheap electronics. more people returning is the only way to stop scammers by making scamms less profitable. like you said if somethings arround 50% length/capacity refuse to accept anything less than that or insist on a full refund. its suprising how often they give a full refund saying to keep the item for free (i suspect return shipping can cost more than the sellers pay for some item)
wow thanks for pointing this out. I bought some bubblewrap and been thinking for a while the rolls don't seem very big. I am going to measure them when I get chance!

I've seen it with lot of items on ebay , like solar panel which says they are 300 watts and you know by the size of the panel you know it's more like 30 to 50 watts.
Have you tried reporting this to Trading Standards? They have powers to prosecute businesses. You might need to report both to your local trading standards office and the ones where the sellers are located.
Well when you think of how they are scamming the public with food too. Reduced the sizes of the goods but the packets are the same size as before. Trading Standards used to regulate this stuff but i guess the companies now know they can do it and not get caught.
over a short period recently I ordered 3 items from ebay sellers only to have the items delivered in an Amazon box, by an Amazon driver in an Amazon van. The cost delta was obviously pocketed by the reseller. I've asked both ebay and Amazon for an explanation but I've heard nothing. Very disappointed.
People cross list their items from Amazon so eBay, so they can have their stock stored at Amazon warehouses, listed on Amazon and eBay (and elsewhere) and then the order gets fulfilled by Amazon. It’s very normal nowadays, we do it ourselves.
Too many products now have misinformation on amazon. I just bought 4'' terracotta pots and they came to 3 inch tall by 3.75 wide. If Id just gotten the 3x3 inch pots I would have saved $20. Not cool!
Fantastic video, Simon and hats off to you mate. I was a little bit concerned with the lack of the bubble wrap music, but he made up for it at the end. 👍 it’s a shame that it’s highly unlikely anything will happen. Amazon are making too much fees from these companies to care.
I've had the same with electrical (signal) cable, most rolls marked as 100m came in around 90m or just under. The suppliers were unable to explain it, apart from it coming from China.
How would that work? So if the diameter is 50 centimetres and there’s 10 layers, 50 x 10 = 500. 500cm is 5 metres. Is that what we’re saying here because it doesn’t sound right?
This is why you should never make internet comments after drinking whisky. What i meant was to take the average circumference of the coil ( in this case half of it) and multiply by the turns. In the case of big pipe coils or other hard to measure circumference take the Average diameter multiply by 3 and then multiply by the amount of loops. I only had a beer this morning!
Oooh, that's cheeky - good to expose them! Did you weigh the different rolls? Given the size of the discrepency it should already be clear if it's off without unrolling...
Yes, rolls can weigh quite significantly different even when both 100m but you’re right, over 40% is obvious. We do want to measure though for better accuracy, as it’s sold in length.
This is the tip of the iceberg, my wife has stopped buying branded cosmetics from resellers as she is almost certain they are selling counterfeit products.
@@Married2Reselling add to this the thousands of dangerous or defective unbranded or fake branded electrical goods flooding in from China all carrying the CE mark. This is why so many cheap products come in multipacks, one item of the 3 (or 5) is likely not working or defective due to non existent QC.
Well we bought bubble wrap this year because we are moving. As you know moving home is stressful. The last thing you do when in this situation is measure the bubble wrap. The stuff hits your pavement and you open it straight away and start wrapping It never even entered our heads to check the amount we received So these sellers know this, they know exactly what the buyer is going to do as soon as the parcel comes It’s disgusting to take advantage of people like this. Shame on them. And the profits they make! It takes someone like you to show us their dirty practice. Thank you for exposing these sharks. Rebecca
Amazon are getting increasingly more bad reports . Amazon should stop allowing these people to trade. Waste of time trying to get Trading Standards involved.
Very useful video - never trust Amazon or its sellers!. One thought, though, could you just _weigh_ the bubble wrap to determine the missing amount, without unrolling?
Good idea but you can’t just weigh the roll to get the length, it’s manufactured to a specific amount of grams per square meter, different sellers may run the machines at a lower GSM and therefore produce a thinner/weaker roll but you would need to know this to calculate the approx length.
Hello again. This is criminal. You have provided a very graphic illustration of this scam. I only have a small garden but I regularly buy both large and "small bubble" wrap, If you know the bubble size wouldn't it be possible to calculate the length by measuring the diameter ot each roll? Also I did wonder if the Amazon sellers are the scammers or are their suppliers scamming them? A visit to some of these Amazon sellers would be interesting to try and see if they are buying individual rolls or buying in huge bulk and cutting it into 100 metre rolls themselves. Very best wishes, Roger.
Well, we know the sellers are aware, because enough people have told them. I can’t blame the suppliers, how do we know that the suppliers aren’t advertising 60m, but the sellers are then upgrading it to 100m? The diameter calculation is possible, but would need to be better at advanced maths than me, due to the diameter not increasing equally/proportionally as the roll gets longer/wider.
@@Married2Reselling Yes I guess they would be aware. The calculation isn't complicated - you just measure the diameter of a 100 meter roll - anything with a smaller diameter is short of bubble. The only complication is that your rogue suppliers don't appear to wrap around a cardboard roll, perhaps an indicator that they are rolling the stuff themselves? Roger.
Get yourself a broomstick next time you do a length test on these dodgy rolls, you'll find it easier to unroll it that way, no good for getting it back on the roll of course.
Good idea but have done that before, the problem is those red no tension so you spend a lot of time stopping and pulling at it to make sure it’s truly straight/flat for the measuring.
Just measured 2 rolls I got recently which came to 50m in length even though I ordered 100m. Complaint gone back to the seller via Amazon. It is a scandal.

They are INDIAN traders who do not care
Greetings from Texas. Good video. Thank you for the info.
Thanks for watching! 🇺🇸
We pay twice as much for less than 100 meters here in the U.S. on Amazon. 🙄 And, they don't even send the full amount either. 😒
Wow I just looked up the prices over there. It seems you pay about $5 more but for smaller rolls!
@Married2Reselling Yep. I just purchased a 75 yard roll for $16. And, that's if it was even truly 75 yards.
I've had the same with electrical (signal) cable, most rolls marked as 100m came in around 90m or just under. The suppliers were unable to explain it, apart from it coming from China.
That’ll be it then 🤣
I've been checking mine for years, weight 1m and x100 and open a return and leave a neg.
They are breaking the law. Sct 4 Fraud Act. You need to refer your complaint to your local Trading Standards.
As an ex plumber measuring coils of pipe, iwould measure the diameter of the roll and multiply by layers. It would save the arm ache
🤣 sounds complicated! Easier just to measure it surely
Depends how big your arms are
An easy way to check out these rolls is to weigh them on your very accurate postal scale …..
I'll probably get in trouble, but I've only shocked Twice on Amazon.
Very bad experience
Market quality every time
Oooh, that's cheeky - good to expose them! Did you weigh the different rolls? Given the size of the discrepency it should already be clear if it's off without unrolling...
Yes, rolls can weigh quite significantly different even when both 100m but you’re right, over 40% is obvious. We do want to measure though for better accuracy, as it’s sold in length.
the old short sell,,,,,, many of em running round in new tesslas n porches for this classic scam,,,
This is why I have closed my Paypal and Ebay accounts, scammed too many times.
The bubbles burst 😅 2/3 obviously they don’t expect you to measure it.
This is the tip of the iceberg, my wife has stopped buying branded cosmetics from resellers as she is almost certain they are selling counterfeit products.
😮
@@Married2Reselling add to this the thousands of dangerous or defective unbranded or fake branded electrical goods flooding in from China all carrying the CE mark. This is why so many cheap products come in multipacks, one item of the 3 (or 5) is likely not working or defective due to non existent QC.
Well we bought bubble wrap this year because we are moving. As you know moving home is stressful. The last thing you do when in this situation is measure the bubble wrap. The stuff hits your pavement and you open it straight away and start wrapping
It never even entered our heads to check the amount we received
So these sellers know this, they know exactly what the buyer is going to do as soon as the parcel comes
It’s disgusting to take advantage of people like this. Shame on them. And the profits they make!
It takes someone like you to show us their dirty practice. Thank you for exposing these sharks. Rebecca
Thank you Rebecca, exactly, no one checks it and they know it!
Amazon is no longer a reliable retailer. They are now on a par with ebay.
Thanks for exposing this corruption.
Amazon are getting increasingly more bad reports . Amazon should stop allowing these people to trade. Waste of time trying to get Trading Standards involved.
Valuable video. Thank you.
Great video. Little buggers have tricked me before. I thought it didn't last long!
Thank you
Well done.for.bringing it to our attention. Trading standards take note. Who is your trusted supplier?
Thank you. Link in the description of this video 👍
Why are these companies not being sued under the sale of goods act 1979 misdescription easy £2000 plus court costs
Roger.
I see what you mean. Unless you’re a maths whizz you can’t calculate the length by diameter, only whether it’s not a full roll.
You could have just cut off a linear meter, weighed it and then weigh the entire roll to find he entire length.
Well done for checking!
This sort of thing is happening everywhere although not illegally. Things getting smaller and charging more or reducing the quality of the contents are just two ways of ripping us off. 👍
True. But at least they put the correct weights/sizes on the packaging
I have received many fake items on Amazon
Well done fir exposing this. I had no idea!
Glad you liked it!
Very happy with the provider you suggested, could tell it was better quality straight away
Good to hear!
Trading standards ought to be made aware 👍
