I'm looking to get into this and either the PR1055x or PR680W. The current offer for a 680 has a free PRCF3 kit included. But I will want to do Flat Brim hats. Will the PRCF5 PRCFH5 Frames work on the PRCF3 driver/jig pieces? I'm seeing the PRCFH5 Cap/frame hoop available for $279 at many places online. And great video BTW. Very detailed and educational for a newbie :)
No, the frames and jigs all have to match :( I'd just go for more needles though. To be perfectly honest: you'll feel limited and annoyed at the 6 needle mark. Even at 10 I felt like I needed more. I now have a 15-needle Ricoma (MT-1501 - check out the videos of it!) and love the dang thing. It's so much more consistent than the Brother ever was. No knocking Brother, just felt like I had to "babysit" it a lot more than I do the Ricoma.
Yeah the single needle was so restrictive. It’s why I didn’t even hesitate to upgrade 2 months later. It’s kind of comical really. I should do a video that walks through my thought process for upgrading machines. I’m just trying to do some more hands on videos with less chatting.
My machine won't let me get as close to the rim as I want. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. It's still about an inch and a quarter from the rim and it won't let me get closer. I have it close enough and set up right. How far is yours from the rim? I couldn't tell from the video
Are you sure it's the same hoop? They have another older one that's metal and loops over the brim to attach. This one is plastic. But yeah, I'm maybe an inch away from the brim.
The PRCF3 is the older version that doesn't get as close to the brim seam line as the PRCF5. They both work perfectly well, but if you want to be able to get closer to the brim, the PRCF5 is what you want.
Great video. Clear explanations and great views. Thank you!
Excellent video. So glad you did this. My new cap frame is soon to be delivered!!
Did you do a video of your calibration of your machine when you set up your cap driver ? Would love to see that!
I didn't :( I just set it up and let it sit after I got it working. I didn't want to tempt fate.

My PRS100 doesn't have the laser pointer w/ the hoop ... darn ... cause I really like that!!

So a year ahead.. Has this hoop held up well?
Yes it has!
@@fiercekittenz thank you 😀
what is the difference between a EPCF4 and PRCF5?
may i know what's the difference between prcf3 and prcf5?
The PRCF3 is the older version that doesn't get as close to the brim seam line as the PRCF5. They both work perfectly well, but if you want to be able to get closer to the brim, the PRCF5 is what you want.
Can it do structured caps?
Yes!
