Thank you for trying to help the turtle 🐢. Most people today wouldn't have touched it. It was a male snapping turtle, the male turtles have longer tails. Cars and lawnmowers are their worst enemy. I owned a box turtle as a kid for about a decade that got ran over with a lawnmower and she had similar problems with a missing back foot and a chunk out of its shell.
