Really loving the channel so far mate. I gotta say, I don't really make music that sounds like anything you make (although I usually like it!), but I love these tutorials because they show a really good work flow. I've been making music for a long time, but I'm relatively new to electronic music and even newer to ableton. You do a great job of showing how to get the sounds in your head into your daw. Cheers.

I totally fell in love with this process. I wanted Cthulu immediately. Asked Xfer if my existing system, based on Maschine would run it. Got a lovely email back from Steve with a No, so I went to work researching Maschine user experiences in Ableton, found some positives, bought a Novation Launchpad mini, which arrived yesterday and at 9 last night I had Cthulu talking strange magic inside a free copy of Ableton live lite. Monster Arp indeed. Thank you so much for the introduction. In my emails with Xfer, I name checked you as the inspiration for my inspiration. You also made me realise how intuitive Ableton is. I'm appreciating this even more as a total newbie in it.
Reviewing this video there's quite a jump from where you talk about the VST to showing it arping the chord progression. I can see 3 lanes in white, one of which is titled Arpeggiator, the bass drum marking time in orange, which I assume is the framework.
Did you copy the chords into a new midi channel, then drop Cthulu onto it or the other way round I wonder? I will probably be able to work that out by trial and error.
As you might read, I'm overexcited.

I always forget that there are people out there who don't know how this stuff works. I was going to make a derisory comment pointing out that what Four Tet is doing is incredibly simple, and that the machines are doing almost all of it. But then you spent nearly seventeen minutes patiently explaining the technique for those who don't know. It isn't mystical. It isn't hard to do, and you don't even need to be much of a musician to get results like that. But I'm still gonna complain that no-one gives me any credit for discovering these techniques on my own!
