We should all be so thankful of people like you that want to preserve things like this. Great art can be lost forever (or repainted on top of!) if dedicated fans aren't on top of it. Then you take the extra steps make sure the best possible versions are scanned for the book. The fans at Christmas at the front and back bookends is a great touch. I know, every generation says this, but Christmas back then, with toys like G.I Joe, it was truly magical. Nothing like your cousins at the house opening up nearly every new Joe and you go for your biggest box and it's the U.S Flagg! Every kid in the house cheering!!
My wife ordered me a copy of the book last week and it arrived today. I knew the book was big, but I wasn’t prepared for how massive it is!! I haven’t had a chance to go through it all yet, but what I’ve looked at and read so far is nothing short of amazing. It brought back so many incredible memories from my childhood. This really is a book that no Joe collector should be without. If you loved the toys as a kid and still have a fondness for them today, do yourself a favor and get this book!!! It’s pricey, but worth every single penny. The love and attention the guys at 3D Joes put into making this book should be its own story. It oozes through every page. And it’s presented, as it should be, like a museum piece. I can’t wait to dig into the book more tomorrow. I’m gonna have the G.I. Joe cartoon on in the background as I get completely lost in this monument to the greatest toy line ever created.
Received mine yesterday and ... wow. You folks really put a lot of effort into making this gorgeous book a G.I. Joe fans dream. It is absolutely massive. I feel like I have every G.I. Joe toy I never had now. If I had 100 copies I could build a shelter strong enough to fend off a zombie apocalypse! A++
I was on the fence about buying the book but after watching a few minutes of this, I was sold. I could not have imagined a more amazing love letter to a toy line that played a pivotal role in my childhood. So excited to get this in hand!!!
I pre-ordered my copy a few months ago and I cannot wait to get my hands on this beauty! EDIT: Aaaand I just came home to find a very large and very heavy box on my front porch! Holy smokes! This thing is an absolute beast! The love and care that was put into the creation of this book is obvious. I mean, it's a bloody masterpiece. The quality of the pages, cover and binding (my God the binding!) is off the charts. The vibrant colors, glossy pages, the case, THE PRINTS. Hats off to all involved in the creation of this mighty tome. I cannot wait to dig into this!
Thank you for making this video. I've been seeing this book for pre-order. But I was on the fence about it. But now that I see it includes the file cards it convinced me to order it now. Looking forward for the book to be shipped.
That's what I thought this was! REPRINT THE STORIES! In the early teens I followed blogs about British comics and they'd always have some excited article about how some long cancelled comic was "BACK!!!", and it would turn out to be a book with a few random episodes from the middle of serialised stories, often with fake wear and tear to the pages so it looked like it was an old relic. Clueless, savage vermin.
I'm very late to the party. Just acquired this book and it's fantastic. Thank you, Carson for all the love and effort in making this possible. And thanks to all the people who worked with you to bring it to the finish line. 🤜💥🤛

I'm not the biggest fan GI Joe and I prefer the new 1/12 line, and I've left the O-rings back in it's day. Having said that, this is a wonderful book. A lot of thought and heart and soul went into the design of this book to be gifted to all the fans of GI Joe. I got it and it's a beautiful experience to read and look at.

Wow... incredible! I bought all the softcover "Art of G.I.Joe" books and posters from 3D Joes back in 2018 and was so impressed with the quality of the products that I backed the Kickstarter for this omnibus sight unseen when the campaign first launched in early 2022. Between my friend and I, we tried to collect almost everything in the toy series up until around the 1989 line and would have massive battles. The character designs still look great today! What a cool time the 80s was to be an artist. 😎

May God Bless and bring out the best to you and your family. I was a former Rakkasan! (Thanks for mentioning them) Waaaaay tougher than the marine corps. WHOOOAAAH!! And like your dad, I've also been a (2nd) grade teacher for the past 24 years. THANK YOU for this, I am a huge JOE fan myself and I even show my favorite episodes/commercials to my students. They love it! Old Skool all the way! :O)
Finally got to the end of the video... First off, fantastic stuff, clearly a real labour of love. Secondly, my ears pricked up when you mentioned what your next project COULD be... I'm from Scotland, I grew up with Action Force (the old one), Action Force: International Heroes (rebranded G.I. Joe) and I still recall all of the hoops Hasbro UK had to jump through in order to change Action Force into G.I. Joe for the UK market. tl;dr I would very much like to read a book covering G.I. Joe outside of the USA.
I’ve pitched the idea to Hasbro, and with their support/blessing, I’m confident we’ll move in that direction! We’ve already amassed ~50GB of scans as we worked through the 18 page world tour that we ended volume 6 with. That was a blast and gave me a passion for the subject. You can see the 18 pages here: 3DJoes.com/books

Looking forward to the book. Also some of those kevin watts items went real cheap as hakes was only just starting out, you got some great deals, now it would be difficult :)
Does anyone know who the artist was that did the G.I. Joe classified illustrated poster from 4yrs ago? They had different artist for different character box art, but no info on the poster.
That would be an entirely different and incredibly big book in its own right. I have actually pitched this idea to Hasbro and we will see if they greenlight the idea.
@@3djoesI hope you'll be able cover them being in the UK my brother and I had TF Outback (my first Joe figure), TF Psyche Out and the European/UK Spirit. Either way this book is still a massive labour of love and still hugely appreciated. Didn't want my original comment to come across as nitpicky or negative just a genuine question/concern.
I want to buy one but it appears no shipping to Puerto Rico, a USA territory with USPS, FedEx, UPS, DHL... etc. services. Could you address this issue, please? Thanks
Thanks! Maybe years down the line. I've spent every nickel raised, plus another $100,000 on this print run, so I'll need to sell through those first to have funds to print another edition one day.
When every time I see these kind of G.I. Joe designs in the book. I've been thinking about if they need a proper live action G.I. Joe series with characters and vehicles in their classic designs and I wouldn't even mind a story line set in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s with the classic characters and in the 2000s to 2020s they have to create new characters specially for the live action series. I wasn't really a fan of the other gi joe designs from all the live action GI Joe films include Snake Eyes anyway that wasn't the G.I. Joe I grew up with and loved. that GI Joe in your book is the ones I grew up and love the most.
Everything from 1982-1985 has been redone: all MOC figure photographs, all vehicle and playset box scans, and all restoration work. This has brought the first two volumes worth of figures and vehicles (1982-1985) up to the standards we started achieving with Volume 3. Have a look at the before and after on Zap, shown here: www.3djoes.com/omnibus-hardcover.html
After I finish this battle with Lymphoma, I'll have to check, and see what I have left and get some pictures for you. If interested. I remember having 30 BATs (v1), 20 Python Patrol Vipers, and 20 Night Patrol Tele-Vipers. Then there are other G.I. Joe things and pieces. I just want to give someone dibs before placing on eBay. I wish I would have held onto my other collection (1983-2000: every item - Hasbro only). Would have made a pretty penny on that. I'll keep you in mind when I can get to them. Thank you.@@3djoes

Holy heaven ... thanks for this video .... why at 01:20:55 is missing some Eco Warriors? For example Cesspool and Toxo Viper?
At that point in the video I am covering the year two 1992 Eco-Warriors offerings.
@@3djoes Thanks for the feedback - again ... amazing work!!!!
Thank you@@ManuelJordan317 !
Really excited for these to start shipping in December... seeing is believing!
@@3djoes I live in southamerica, if this wonderful work is available in Amazon. I am going to do an order to indicate to my uncle to buy it and bring me ... he is coming to my country January 2024 .... I am going to do a re-tweet too :) - Joe Joe!!!!
how do i thumbs up this video twice!?
Looking forward to the book. Also some of those kevin watts items went real cheap as hakes was only just starting out, you got some great deals, now it would be difficult :)
P.s Nice dedication to your father.
Does anyone know who the artist was that did the G.I. Joe classified illustrated poster from 4yrs ago?
They had different artist for different character box art, but no info on the poster.
How come the International releases aren't in the book like Tiger Force Outback?
Thanks
looks awesome, will there be a regular release without all the extras?
Will the colors and pixels be better than they were in, “Collecting the Art of G.I.JOE” volume 1: 1982-1983?
Everything from 1982-1985 has been redone: all MOC figure photographs, all vehicle and playset box scans, and all restoration work. This has brought the first two volumes worth of figures and vehicles (1982-1985) up to the standards we started achieving with Volume 3. Have a look at the before and after on Zap, shown here: www.3djoes.com/omnibus-hardcover.html
Are you still looking to add to your collection?? Very impressive by the way!
I'm always filling holes and upgrading :-)
After I finish this battle with Lymphoma, I'll have to check, and see what I have left and get some pictures for you. If interested. I remember having 30 BATs (v1), 20 Python Patrol Vipers, and 20 Night Patrol Tele-Vipers. Then there are other G.I. Joe things and pieces. I just want to give someone dibs before placing on eBay. I wish I would have held onto my other collection (1983-2000: every item - Hasbro only). Would have made a pretty penny on that. I'll keep you in mind when I can get to them. Thank you.@@3djoes
Is there a UK outlet for this? The shipping is nearly as much as the book!! $135.30
I wish. The poor folks in AU and NZ have to pay ~$180 to ship. It's a 21 lb. beast and is NOT cheap to ship.
Is the DVD still in the back cover as planned Carson ?
No, that changed very early in the Kickstarter campaign. Check out 3DJoes.com/art to see what it’ll look like. Digipacks ship this spring!
Any updates on when these are shipping?
Containers arrived at the NYC port this week, then move to NJ for distribution. Look for tracking emails next week!
When do the preorders for the omnibus close?
Books arrive and start shipping in December. They’ll ship in the order that they were ordered, with Kickstarter backers shipping first. Pre-orders hold your place in that queue. Once all pre-orders have shipped, we’ll convert to taking orders and shipping once a week.
Sky shark too
Lol the avalanche! It shot disks
