      Ross Geller, PhD rnc’s are the highest percentage submissions by far. Here is a really cool study that broke down UFC submission statistics over the past 25 years. Rear naked chokes are the most common submission by a large margin, if you’re a ufc fan give it a read. Very cool study, link is below.

      The main way to defend a heal hook is by rolling. If you roll the wrong way and your opponent doesn't let go. You'll snap your knee and ankle just from the weight and momentum of your body.

    the whole time i was watching this video i was like, yeah, the only way to defend against that is to try and knock out the guy that's doing the heel hook
    vicious technique, very fast and easy to get into but extremely difficult to execute. when they grab a hold of ya foot, forget about jiu jitsu, that is almost impossible to get out of. the guy at 6:15 is the one who held up the longest and he was kinda smart about it, kept rolling and hitting the dude, the thing is you cant roll forever so ultimately he ended up being destroyed!
    great video and great technique! im excited to try this on local law enforcement

    • @KoreanRambo
      @KoreanRambo 4 роки тому +1

      Not exactly, there's plenty of defensive options against leglocks, some which hold a hierarchy over each other.
      For a straight ashi, there are some answer. The first thing to make sure of is to do what's called putting your "boot" on. You straighten out your leg as best as you can and keep a dorsal flexion in your foot as the severity of the heel hook is dependent on how much bend there is in the knee, how close your butt is to theirs, how wedged you have their knee, and how well you are isolating the tendons/ligaments via your toe crush when initiating the breaking mechanics of the heel hook.
      One answer is to strip the heel and knee in a straight ashi garami, hide your other leg behind yourself so they cannot catch it and to simply hop over the leg that is hooking on with the heel if they have broken you down to a hip.
      Another answer is standing up and pressuring into them to kill that hook on the hip with their heel; but, this opens you up to a reverse X-guard entry into cross ashi.
      Another answer is to stand up and push both the heel and knee below and behind you; but, this opens up a double outside ashi entry if there is ample time.
      In a cross ashi position, it's important to make sure they cannot find your toes to crush by planting them on the ground, turning out, and attempting to push their leg wedge below your kneeline. Escape finishes vary from here but generally, getting their knees below your kneeline is avoiding the heel hook.
      But let's say you've done goofed and they're starting to fall back for that heel hook in straight ashi, - if they've secured an inside heel hook grip, I just say fuck it because they're finishing it, it's way tighter than an outside, - you have to prevent them from locking their grip on your heel and falling their weight down by applying a good 2on1 variation grip on the nearside arm and yanking them towards yourself to escape danger momentarily.
      Punching someone who has excellent control AND breaking mechanics in these leg lock positions will most likely result in them just torquing on your knee harder.

      @KoreanRambo 4 роки тому

      @@J.R.Swish1 You're clearly grasping at straws here. I gave you a very clear explanation as to why just punching someone who has a tight ashi on you is counter productive.
      There are multiple central problems to each ashi position that experienced leg lockers prepare for and learn to counter. Shared spiral, turn out, and leg crossing.
      Instead of entering into a discussion about the technicality of all of these positions and what the hierarchy is in avoiding them, you just say "lol try that on Rousimar" which is just fucking silly. I don't have to try it on Rousimar, I try it on black belts to white belts at my Jiu Jitsu gym almost daily.
      No move in Jiu Jitsu is inescapable when you have that knowledge.
      How much leg locking have you trained?
