Frank Mir is arguably the greatest submission artist in the heavyweight division, ever!
Frank is the greatest submission artist in heavyweight history with 8 wins by submission and tied for 2nd over all in UFC history for submissions.
Mir and Werdum
If you are reading this i am very sorry for interrupting you. I dont want to waste your valuable time but I just released the
offical teaser for a short sport film. If you are not interested just continue scrolling thanks a lot
No cap
Wished Mir and Werdum fought each other
The Mir submission over Nog was disgustingly amazing, that little snap on Nog's arm was terrifying.
Also those Ezequiel choke very impressive.
that was more than just a "little snap" lol, that arm will never be the same
Imagine in street fight he would broke his arm and after would molested him and as-*banged while having a broken arm, like in the movie Irreversible.
@@plisskennn the F, dude?
This is why im a proponent of letting fights go a little longer, if this fight was today Nog would've won, the ref would've seen Mir dazed and he would've called it
We were so hype that night
Franks kneebar setup vs Brock was insane
Frank will always be the heavyweight submission goat to me
Him and werdum were just unmatched mir I think could’ve been better if not for the life threatening crash from what we did see though I think werdum is not only better then mir in the heavyweight discussion but I think he’s better then anyone else in ufc history
Juiced to the gills mir was awesome, sucks Usada came into play and finished his career.
I feel like Mir is underrated, one of the best hw submission guys ever
Fabricio Werdum
Frank mir in his Prime would be champion even in today’s heavyweight division if jon jones wouldn’t be there, frank would absolutely finish ngannou and gane on the ground and all the other top 5 heavyweights also
Pretty ridiculous of them to not include Overeem submitting Stipe to win the title. He clearly felt a tap.
😂
Got me for a second, lmao.
Ffs Overeems my favourite but thats a good one.
Man fuck lmaoo.
This comment is the best one I've read in a really long time!!!
Mir took Nog’s soul and arm the only person to do both.
All while juiced up on steroids.
@@cornking6 mate every heavyweight of that era was on roids. The champs to the contenders that was just the landscape back in those days 🤷🏻♂️
If you are reading this i am very sorry for interrupting you. I dont want to waste your valuable time but I just released the
offical teaser for a short sport film. If you are not interested just continue scrolling thanks a lot
@@Allinone_MMA Not Cain Velasquez, and I don't think mir was on roid's too. If he is though? Shame.
@@arachnidman8eyes Cain was likely on something as well. I know injuries took a toll on him and the Sea Level Cain meme came from him gassing hard against Werdum since he didn’t prepare for elevation, but the dude went downhill right when USADA came into play. He never looked or performed the same. If anyone was the OG CEO of EPO, it was Cain (+ Chael and Tibau who both popped for it).
If frank didn’t get into that accident, he’d have continued being the heavyweight submission GOAT.
Scary thing is, even with the years and performances the accident took off his career, he still is the hw submission goat
@@Dukeflyhawker
I think it's between him and fabricio
@@mohamadshalaby3065 that's true. Werdum is the only that compares. His subs vs Fedor and Cane at their absolute most dominant are the most impressive. Mir's subs were usually just faster and nastier, and without the motorcycle accident I think he would have pulled well ahead. Can't believe they haven't gone head to head yet. maybe in Bellator
@@Dukeflyhawker
You have made a good point that mir submissions are more nasty than werdum he literally able to break bones like sylvia and big nog and he could break lesnar leg too
Werdum submitted cain and fedor and big nog i think all with chokes
@@mohamadshalaby3065 I hope they fight before calling it quits. They're almost the same age and neither have ever been subbed. It seems like such an obvious match, that needs to happen for the old school mma fans
Damn, we all felt that arm break at the end
scary
That clip has the same effect on me as it did live.
10 years later.
He broke Tim Silvias arm too.
Also, it did not break, just dislocated the shoulder. Sorry to bust the fantasy, but it's pretty obvious.
@@sandoumir4348 Why do there have to be people like you .... literally googled it and found an x-ray of an broken arm after just one minute. If you dont have the knowledge then please just shut up. Even if it is is "pretty obvious" for you
I will never forget me screaming behind my computer when Mir subbed Big Nog. Can't believe that was already 10 years ago, i was about a year into MMA at that point
Had the same reaction to Lesnar choking out Carwin, but I was in a bar surrounded by people. Good times.
I was 10 years into MMA at that point
That Frank Mir Nogueira arm break was the first clean break you can actually see and hear. Mir vs Silvia was a blink and you miss it break. Either way Mir, I think was the first guy to break bones in a submission in UFC history.
salam
Not the first
@@PapaPercules who was the first? I thought Mir was, 🤷♂️
@@PapaPercules yeah, tell us.
If you are reading this i am very sorry for interrupting you. I dont want to waste your valuable time but I just released the
offical teaser for a short sport film. If you are not interested just continue scrolling thanks a lot
My boy Oleinik seriously leaving opponents bewildered after getting submitted while on top mount.
In an alternate reality Mir never had his motorcycle accident and, to date, he’s considered the greatest heavyweight ever.
💯💯
That Frank Nog roll is the best sequence ever
Seeing my GOAT Frank Mir so many times here is beyond satisfying 😤
Frank Mir all day! at heavyweight subs 👌
@@guitarislife9831 YA FEEL ME! Warms my heart when I see his skills appreciated 🤧
@@timothy.5193 🔥❤️🔥 👌
To this day one of my top 3 favorite heavyweights of all time. I just wished he stopped fighting 😥
@@hulkman245 that fight against Pulev crushed me dawg I swear 😭 I wish not just him, just retired fighters and general just enjoy their life after fighting, it makes no sense why they wanna keep fighting even at their ages
The Mir sub against Minatouro was incredible
That’s some brutal shit
u dont see much high lvl heavyweight grapplers roll it out in the UFC anymore man
Oleiniks submission while being full mounted is awsome
Rothwell was incredible that night!
But Mir is such a good fighter on the ground, truly one of the best. Him vs Werdum or Olienik would have been fire
Oleinik is a legend
fighting in the UFC in his mid 40s, absolutely awesome
Those Ezekiel chokes are fucking phenomenal
Really miss Frank Mir style fighter. That motorbike accident during his prime was unfortunate.
Frank Mir is a legend. I remember seeing him make Brock tap and since then I would never miss one of his fights. My favorite heavyweight of all-time
Then you've clearly never watched ngannou.
Hold it!: NGannou? One trick pony that has no cardio or ground game?
I am glad they are showing appreciation towards the ground game. People started to forget that this sport is not just about the striking
Nobody forget about submissions
You are absolutely right. I mean after Islam almost ripped Dan's arm most people in facebook were complaining how boring was the Dagestani, how they are ruining the sport and other shit like this.
@@aleksanderb.5254 those are just some casual ret@rds
@@ehsanahmed3589 You can identify them by the whooping sound they make when a reach jab is made. Or when absolutely nothing actually happens. And during the walk-ons.
Lol wtf no one complains about subs anymore it’s not 2011.
Does anyone remember when Frank Mir broke Tim Sylvia's arm with an armbar from closed guard? 🔥
Sylvia wanted to keep going too
That’s the one where Herb was like “oh shit!”
Imagine mirs career if he never got in that bike accident
Carwin and brock would still pancake him
@@3rdSanderson but frank tapped brock
@@ScroggdoggXP97 his first fight he was very inexperienced and he mauled mir in the rematch
@@sooboroo Velazques clapped Lesnar in 2010
@@joooanit0224 you cant even compare them cain was called the goat at that time lmao
Yall should do a "All fights won by decision in Heavyweight History " video 💀💀.
Lewis vs Ngannou #1
🔥
I've heard it happens. I've just never been able to stay awake to see one
That Mir Kimura is my #1 favorite highlight in ufc history. Violent poetry.
Frank Mir is a legend greatest submission specialist in heavy weight history.
*TAP* , _NAP_ or *_SNAP_*
Man that knee by Mir was so impressive. These guys got serious endurance and stamina and the way Lesnar earlier did not get on top and let Mir get back up this is instance, great fight...
This video could be labeled " Remember how good Frank Mir was"
Imagine Frank Mir without his motorcycle accident ... formidable comeback!
yea I hears about that what exactly happen?
@@glenn3646 seconding
@@glenn3646 he was hit by a car while driving his bike
It happened like month or so after Mir became UFC champ
@@user-sx6rm9uu7q how long was he out?
@@glenn3646 The accident resulted in Frank Mir breaking his femur in two places and tearing all the major ligaments in his knee. Mir was also told by the doctors that he would never be able to fight again.
That "Mir lock" which named after Frank Mir is my favourite submission of all time ..
Just because someone called it the "Mir" lock doesn't mean anything. It's a shoulder lock, which he learned from someone else who learned it from someone else......
@@TERRENCEJJRIt’s a judo lock, Mir adapted it to the guard. It’s his submission.
Whenever Frank Mir locks in a submission, i have to look away. Ive broken too many many bones (my own) to watch. He wants to see them break and then hurt (often while looking right at their face). He is a great fighter.
Mir deserves more props. Severely underrrated
Frank Mir’s submission with Brock Lesnar, Big Nog, and Tank Abbott was the best 💪🏻
Frank Mir being so big yet so skilled with submissions is like someone being 5’2” and dunking a basketball.
I also love how a semi-unconscious Frank Mir is when he’s the most dangerous. 😂😂😂
frank mir was a beast man
Yea it's really sad never the same after his motorcycle accident.
He was dude
You're a Sikh but your first name is Ashley? Interesting.
@@sukhdevr3489 I'm actually born in Australia, but my family was born in Fiji, but i'm Indian - do the math
@@deucey89 Oh cool. Tim Cahill's a legend.
It feels really weird(and awesome) when I see some technical details in heavyweight division. DC and Stipe's Wrestling, stipe's boxing+ wrestling combo, Gane's Lightfoot, Mir's groundgame, Fedor's Sambo Judo. It feels very exciting, seeing this in a division where almost everyone relies on setting up and wind-milling KO.
Sometimes heavyweights just forget submissions exist and by the time they remember it's too late to defend, like when Aspinall RNC'd Arlovski
I was actually going to mention that this was one of my favourite heavyweight subs. Aspinall basically decided to end the fight
Frank mir the Roy gracie of HW
Fabrício Werdum
Mir one of my favorite fighters of all time. I hadn't seen that sequence with Big Nog in years, what an absolute savage Mir is to nearly get TKOd, then nearly get subbed, reverse it, and then hand Nog the first submission loss of his career, breaking his arm in the process.... Just WOW!
Mir's sub vs. Nog gives me chills to this day! Joe's commentary is the cherry on top.
Right at 7:05. Very professional REF. Some of the better Referees don’t get the credit they should….
Frank Mir is the greatest submission artist of all time! He will never be forgotten.
The Mir Lock is one of my favorite submissions that Mir has done
6:38 love to see Mir's expression
9:31 “I think he broke it” 😅
This was the most honest like I’ve ever gave .. you guys put all the best submissions I’ve ever imagined , you guys deserved my like 👍🏻
You cannot argue the stats, Frank Mir is the GOAT in the heavyweight division for submission wins with 8 and tied for 2nd over all in the UFC.
Stefan struve is the actual hw submission goat
@@GoodStuff1992 Don't say stupitidies!!!! I AGREE THAT YOU ARE A FANBOY BUT NOT THE GOAT!!!!IT'S FOR LAUGHING!!!!& 2ND WERDUM!!!!!!
the thing is, that noone tried to take down werdum. he was more dangerous and the better submission artist
@@Imozep4Live Cain tried, and he got strangled lmao.
I still can't imagine how that Ezekiel choke works 😩
Its a blood choke.
TY for the random list! Always appreciate mma content! 😊
Oh no. They put the Werdum choke on Sea level Cain up
Frank Mir is a beast on the floor!
They could have made a whole video with just Frank Mir.
The Ezekiel choke by Aleksie is just funny. You choke out a dude, then just sit there waiting for him to realise what happened so he can dismount to give you a chance to celebrate 😂😂
Lmao the ref for the Mir v Lesnar fight was like "I'm not sure that was a tap. Let's ask him real quick."
At 0:43, I watched Barnett tap to strikes before. Pride Grand Prix when Cro Cop whooped his ass, winning the tournament. It's the same night the Axe Murderer took a head kick that started his career down hill slide. Cro Cop was prime and on fire that night!!!
I you open your ears you’ll hear that joe says: “first time barnett taps, by submission”. Tapping to strikes is something else :)
and Cro Cop got head kicked by Gonzaga, Silva got bullied by Sonnen lmfao
That was amazing!!
*This is a dope list!*
the *FIRST* *Heavyweight* *Submission* I *think* of when they say *best* of *all* *Time* is *Big* *Franky* *Mir* *Submitting* *Antonio* *Rodrigo* *Nogueira*
*"Mir* *Oh* *Mir!!!"*
holy shiz, a shredded Frank Mir. Thats insane
OG Mir in OG Sprawl shorts was absolute legend. Wish we had both of them back.
We all know why DC giggled at 7:10 😂😂😂😂
Why
I feel lucky that I was able to attend an Oleynik fight this april. Truly a legend of the sport.
DC had no idea what was going on with Oleiniks Ezekiel choke 😂😂😂😂
Frank mir after being BADLY hurt turns it around WOW
Mir was always my favorite HW in the UFC. He submitted Nog while he was still in a haze from getting rocked. He basically just went lizard brain / auto pilot and got the key lock before he got his head cleared. Fantastic fighter and always a good sport, win or lose. I was crushed when he had his accident and crushed again when I realized he'd never be great again like he once was.
Ben knows how to choke. He is an expert at submissions.
Ben Rothwell AKA Big Ben is a beast.
So happy Frank is getting his flowers now , appreciate the legends
That Mir tap out at the end is so fun to watch
A heavyweight with scrambling and submission skills is the absolute nightmare in MMA 💀💀💀🔥🔥🔥🔥
Most of the new age UFC fans dont even remember how good most of the original generation of fighters were they all just worship McGregor or Khabib or something. Its good that these videos are showing people that each generation of fighters were just as good not just the newer ones.
Why they not showed werdum-cain velasquez?
Mir vs werdum I always wanted to see this fight.
Me too would’ve been great sadly werdum was at championship level while mir was more gatekeeper by that time. If ufc didn’t cut werdum after JDS uppercut maybe we would’ve got it.
@@thelaststylebender8215 Frank mir had most submission wins than werdum in ufc history but werdum submit better opponents than (fedor, alistair and cain) mir.
Frank mir of 2009 was good with a 12-3 record he was 5nd ranked in the heavyweight at the time even ı remember, Frank mir outboxed big nog before ufc 100 fight.
@@ugurkaraalioglu2813 they could’ve met in 2008-11 if Dana didn’t cut werdum. Yes werdum is top 3 submission artist at HW maybe the best he also Subbed Big Nog. That’s a lot of great names Fedor, Big nog, overeem and Cain 3 of the top 7 all time HWs. Miss the strikeforce days
@@thelaststylebender8215 I agree definitely
"Why they not showed werdum-cain velasquez?" - They do; it starts at 4:50 in.
Hope to see a Tom Aspinall sub in a list like this one day. His RNC (without hooks) on Arlovski was impressive af
He is on this list what do you mean? They showed him a bunch of times, he broke Nogueiras arm...
@@bushisback112 yeah true, I forgot he has been fighting in the UFC for 10+ years. Amazing how the guy seems to get younger too
@@dahui58 😂😂
That guys clueless.
@@nomic5921 it’s a joke, there’s a meme that Tom Aspinall looks like Frank Mir’s long lost twin.
@@boonstuff oh, I didn’t see that one.
The Ezekiel choke is so freaking gangster
Damn mir that good man , best submission artist 👊
Use to love watching mir when he was in his prime
Wow the Mir on Big Nog is incredible particularly as under pressure and rocked by strikes just before.
Frank Mir submitting Noguera is the craziest thing ever.
That Mir Americana was brutal
One of the best heavyweight jujutsu artist pound for pound. Don't understand why he chose to strike late in his career when his strength is clearly on grappling.
Mir tapping out brock Lesnar motor he the most satisfying submission to watch in the history of mma
Frank was the sole reason why I started watching UFC, sad to see he never reached his full potential
Bien
Love how every commentator has there own version of "unbelievable" like a pokemon rarity
I saw that submission Rothwell put on Josh when it aired, I was stunned when it happen.
9:36 That kimura by Frank Mir made herb dean and nogueira to tap out simultaneously...crazy!!
Mir vs Oleinik is one of the fights that i wish had happened
Oleinik is very sneaky with The Ezekiel Choke
Why didn't they show Mir breaking Silvia's forearm?
Frank have some crazy skill in ground game
That Ezekiel choke is crazy.
FRank Mir!! Yo this videos gotta be good
That womans face @3:51 is great, the biggest omg whhhhaaatttt face lol
Mir vs Werdum was a BJJ GOAT fight we never saw
A few things:
That Rothwell submission was fantastic.
And I didn't know AA once rocked the same 'do as Patrick Swayze in "Point Break".
Big Nog... you're a tough one.
And the octagon was huge back in the day.
That submission on mino. 🔥
Mir is a legend. One of the best fighters and entertainers.
The end clip - and thus the Rolling Kimura from hell was born.
Mir x BigNog2 is in my top 10 favorite fights, you can just see how much Big Nog wants it back and that ending sequence is just beautiful!
He really is the arm collector
