The ruling African National Congress (ANC) is reaching out to rivals to form a government of "national unity". The ANC held talks with 5 other parties over a coalition or an agreement, but no decision has been made yet. South Africa is in an election deadlock after the ANC lost its 30-year majority in the May 29 vote. Now, the opposition Democratic Alliance (DA) has given the ANC an ultimatum. The DA says it will not join government with Jacob Zuma's MK party and Julius Malema's EFF. The ANC says it has repeatedly reached out to former president Zuma's party but they refused to talk. EFF is a more possible option, DA will be too strong for ANC to handle and I don't see Zuma working with Ramaphosa, their relationship is too damaged. EFF will talk but I don't think it will be strong enough to impose some of it's unrealistic policies.

ANC and the people of South Africa have learned a lesson. The best way forward now is to go back to elections because no party can form a Government without the support of others. Due to stalemate and for purposes of peace I advice South Africa to conduct another elections as mandated by the constitution.

How on earth can you form a coalition with parties that disagree with eachother...their voters vote for them because they want change......only to end up being back in partnership with the party they voted against initially
because no matter how different you are, election results can force you sacrifice and form some sort of conditions, not that you agree on policies but to survive the storms and put the country forward.
New elections would solve the deadlock if parties can not agree to a government of national unity.

It is clear from the comments that few people understand the intricacies of South African politics and almost nobody knows what THE CONSTITUTION requires now with regard to forming a coalition government. Coalition governments are not the end of the world. It is common in Germany, etc. If South Africans of different parties work together for what is best for the country and its people, things could be better than before!

ANC - most of government shares, DA - 2nd most amount of shares.
MK - 3rd most shares, EFF - 4th the amount of shares.
But this will split the government into 4 Parties which collectively rule the country, which equates to some policies we disagree with from the side of the MK & EFF
And most policies we can agree on from the side of the ANC & DA.

It is just obvious that Ramaphosa and and his ANC MPs are not on the same page, including all the political parties leaders and their senior members, who do not agree with Ramaphosa is saying, including the community. Now that South Africa got stuck, without any progress, therefore, from the look of things, there will be no any progress due to that stupid argument. As South Africa should had already made some progress, if only the elections results were not tempered with. A small progress would have been made, but instead South Africa had come to a stand still. One thing for South Africa to do is to forget about the United Nation body, or whatever the bloody body is, and reach out to the community to find out what the community wants, as the community had been left out from the stupid topic of the coalitions government. For How long are we going to listen to that? while there is absolutely no solution. By letting the community to choose their suitable coalitions, where the majority of that referendum is going to be the winner. Instead of all of us to get stuck like stupids. Where the other option is to go back to the drawing board and queue for the elections once again, as the whole planet is laughing at us.

Communism is a nonsense, but the EFF are entitled to this view and should be part of a GNU on the condition that they are committed to the Constitution. It is this condition that is the problem.
The ANC are the minority majority. If all the parties come together, they can divide the spoils and slowly chip away supporters through service delivery.
Its a meaningless call by the DA because they cant form a meaningful coslition with ANC.They have different ideologies, agendas etc..its pretty much like going back to apartheid slowly.
This is simply a non starter and it would be the death knell for ANC.

This does not mean 'going back to Apartheid slowly', unless you believe all whites want/liked Apartheid, which would then negate the fact of the 1994 referendum (where majority whites voted to end apartheid).
