South africa needs to be a manufacturing country. Investors won't make a huge difference. We had investors under Ramaphosa and we still suffered as black people.
Tell them, there's this obsession over investors in a country that has the highest unemployment in the world.Investment in form of money in banks,it only becomes an investment when it builds superstructure for business purposes to employ people.
I think this is an important point. We need to industrialize. Having high-skill jobs is awesome, but there's 55 Million other people who also need to work. The only problem is that with so few tax-payers, the government alone cannot industrialize our country. It's this weird situation where we need a bit of both ( Government and Investment ) etc.
Anc stole all that round of investment and now the big money laughs when anc ask for more... it's disgusting.. we desperately need leaders who want to build our economy to where we should be. We have so much potential but in the hands of corrupt criminals. BEE has only made rich richer. Best person for a job and let's get on with it..
South Africans are not Western nor Eastern. South Africa is African for themselves and Africa only. We will work with both the East and West for SA's benefit be a peacemaker mediator a leading example and beacon of hope for Africa but not be forced to choose a side nor be bullied manipulated to be told what to do by either or any side.
Neither Russia nor China gives a F about SA's internal affairs... That's what the West is dictating, They do business or don't!!! They don't own mines in SA either That's the Western Oligarchs!!! Russia is the wealthiest country in terms of Natural wealth doesn't need resources from no one... Zuma has a relationship with the Russians why is it a problem? Russia is currently constructing nuclear power stations in Hungary, France aswell who sanctioned them except in these fields, whenever SA cut deals with western countries neither China nor Russia gives a F, but when Zuma wanted Russia to build nuclear power plants in SA it was a big problem for the West their puppets DA? Yet nothing about EU countries doing the same? SA is not needed by the Brics not at all!!! They won't force you into fully committing, but the West needs your resources 😂 wake up become independent
The resolution of the Berlin Conference is bring resurrected. That was the plan when the Afrikaners were bludgeoned with sanctions and the ANC was given a trophy without glory;political power without economic power hence the pilfering(if you know what I mean)The haste to take over is informed by the geopolitical happenings in Ukraine/Russia;Palestine/Suez Canal/Yemen.The Crown wants South Africa back.Unfornately of eyes are open now and God is on our side.We are not prepared to go back to slavery.Afrikaners will agree with me on this one;we were together in the concentration camps. We will go for elections after 30days ffom the day of the hastening report of the results.
South Africa is rotting, continue down this path and fake pride there will be nothing to even be bullied over, just hands outs for West and East to save. Useless leaders and you can go ahead feel how you want, track record is there. Corrupt tribalistic idiots
Brother. all the they car about is investments and profits. knowing very well in order to make those profits they need policies to favor their businesses over the people. RADICAL ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION is the only option now
They don't care about our people no CAP.. All they care about is their land ,families and investments. They will never mention "Rural areas" coz they don't care.
That's because SA was NEVER supposed to be one single country. Brittain deliberately grouped together all kinds of different nations into single states because they knew those nations will always keep fighting each other instead of their colonial masters.

Rob is a funny character, we need Ramaphosa now? The guy who was spineless and useless a few months ago according to him, really? I think what S.A needs is all the opposition parties to bring together their 60% and form a government and totally isolate the failed ANC. But that'll never happen because all of them wants to be a president or leader, some are very comfortable with being in charge of the economy and others like Rob are scared of change and are forever ready to leave the country. Just imagine a person sitting on capital in a country that he claims to love but won't invest in it because of propaganda. I honestly hope he doesn't believe these bedtime stories of his. I've never heard people announce their leaving like most of these people do. Just pack up and leave quietly and let those who want this country to work for everyone (black and white) try to make it work. More than half of the citizens are living in poverty already and have been doing it for years with the investor friendly ANC in power, what's the worst that can happen to them? With all its challenges, South Africa remains one of the best countries to live in. As a matter of fact majority of the leavers (doom's day team) will never survive anywhere else in the world. If you don't believe me, ask Rob the true reason why he wouldn't leave, with all the money he has. This is my comment on the Biznews platform, don't comment on it, write yours if you so wish. Because I know you hate the truth and you easily catch emotions. I thank you
Rob's main home is in the UK. He has a multimillion pound country pile & luxury London pad. His kids are at top UK private boarding schools. His business is headquartered in central London. He holds UK residency. He is what I describe as a ghost resident. He enjoys the best of both worlds but if SA went to shit or erupted all he has to do is hop on a plane. There are many like him, enjoying the good that SA still has to over - low cost of living, great weather, beautiful landscapes, good food, easy life - but remaining completely uninvested where it counts. He's only probably here because they have a young kid in prep school & his wife wants to be near family. I know because 1) I know his family (his siblings have long taken their millions & checked out. His nephews were at Eton) 2) I am the same. I still keep a home, spend the warmer months in SA, employ domestic staff, enjoy easy SA life - But I earn my income, have all my savings, investments, real estate, pension in the UK, have a primary home there, , kid at UK university who will probably never come back here to work as an adult. I enjoy SA life immensely but for all intents and purposes I have checked out. There are a great many of us & we have written SA off but are not ready to give up our lifestyle perks. Why should we when we can still have both? However the minute SA becomes untenable we will all literally just hop on that plane
"Investor friendly ANC"..?.You've entirely missed his point. The ANC is not investor friendly. Policies like BEE & restrictive labour laws, poor monetary policy, a lack of investment in education leading to one of the poorest quality labour pools on the continent, have made ANC very unattractive for investors. He's saying collaboration now with the DA may help restore some of that lost credibility, while coalitions with extremist parties like MK & EFF will finish off what is left of investor confidence. A question for you - where in SA would you invest right now? Property values are plummeting everywhere except in the Western Cape, the JSA has underperformed the FT500, NYSE, NASDAQ. EFF & MK are threatening property rights, immigration laws make it impossible to tap into other country's highly skilled workforce, labour laws make it costly & difficult to get rid of underperforming resources, a weak rand threatens the value & convertibility of any local assets - So what would you do with your capital?
You are such a genius. I am sure YOU will create employment for the millions that will lose the jobs right? You have it all figured out? You would rather see your party ruling while the country suffer and burn down... with no future for all of us... as long as your party rules.. You happy
@@guillaumevermaak1081 My point was not to suggest that investors are solely responsible for all economic issues or that their involvement is entirely negative. Rather, I aimed to highlight that there can be a tendency for some investors to prioritise personal gains over broader societal benefits. It's important to recognise that job creation and economic stability are crucial. I believe that there needs to be a balance where investors can achieve their financial goals while also contributing positively to the country’s development.
As a Havard graduate I cannot understand how Hersov can and could not understand why Big business was better off with Cyril Ramaphosa and a Centre to right ANC. That's why Big Business was quiet happy keeping Cyril Ramaphosa as President. What happened to Hersov's " voetsake ANC" .....just look at what SA is facing now.
Listen guys. You are speaking from a point of privilege. You make up less than 2% of the population, but you complain at the choice of 98% of the population, yet you don’t want to leave SA. The ANC has been working for you for the past 30years, if you were rich pre 94 you are super rich in 2024. If you were poor pre 1994 you are languishing in poverty, both scenarios are because of the ANC. You cannot blame people for wanting to try something else, their lives are already dire, they have nothing to lose, only you are scared of the prospects of losing ur investments. I really like Rob, but he is making a big miscalculation. There is too many poor people, once they get angry enough they are coming for all us middle class to ultra rich, and once that happens, Rob will be on his private jet out of here. We will have to deal with this inequality mess.
The thing is though, the people are not trying something else. Zuma, EFF and ANC are basically the same thing that got people into the mess they are in now. If people wanted to try something else, they would have voted for DA, ActionSA, BOSA etc…
You LOT are NOT helping SA! I'm white! I'm NOT ANC! I live in EKurhuleni... and it's not plundered to oblivion as you imply. ANC is (trying to) shedding "the bad seed" and what the other parties should do is encourage them instead of laughing at their struggle. MK (aka disgruntled Zulu people) CAN NOT be separated or "loose" from SA...they are integral part of this country! They had their chances! Instead, we must find a way to channel their energy in to a constructive and positive avenue. ALL countries outside SA wait and want for us to divide! It's normal. Let's not give them the opportunity to suck us dry.

What has the rule of law given you you ask? The answer is: everything you know and have. It underpins everything, the fact that you have Internet to make this post. That's underpinned by the rule of law. So if the rule of laws goes, everything goes.
I agree with you partially but a lot goes unpunished in this country. In fact the rule of law seems very biased in its application. Most crimes goes unpunished
@ThaboButhelezi-qm6td I also agree with you there. And on your first point, as a white South African, I believe that the main political actors of the Apartheid regime should have been brought before the law and dealt with accordingly I.e imprisonment, exile etc. But I guess, if that were the terms they'd never have conceded to democratic rule. But result is that race relations have suffered because black South Africans feel, and rightfully so, that no one has been held accountable for the atrocities of the past.
@@lukeschroder3036 I believe thats exactly where we should start if we are to have a fair society which values the rule of law. South African relations seems very fake to me and I believe we need to have these genuine conversations, they might bring hope and genuine love.
Colonizers talking on Africa is disturbing 🙆🏽♀️ who do we blame? Nelson Mandela for not getting rid of them or South Africans for tolerating them and voting the DA 🤷🏽♀️
I'm puzzled. Colonizers are out there claiming to save this country but only to protect white supremacy. Well, sadly they've recruited our Africans to support and vote for them - it's a shame because our indigenous South Africans don't even know that they are voting against themselves.
You can not create jobs and reduce poverty levels and inequalities when you have a stagnating economy. This will get a lot worse if the ANC goes left and does a deal with the MK, EFF, and/or PA.

A question to Rob, what about black South Africans who are apart of all of this and not for MK & ANC, what advice do you have for them? Seems advice is towards white South Africans and more specifically, white South Africans with means. I could be wrong.
I think his advice also goes for black south africans... and for indians... and for coloured... and for pink and blue and red people, doesn't matter what skin colour. The black middle class south africans I know are putting up solar panels, drilling bore holes, getting backup water tanks, investing in private education for their kids, getting private medical aid for private health care, etc. Just like everyone else who can afford it, regardless of skin colour. Even the low income black south africans I know are trying to state proof themselves, by whatever means they can afford... solar lights, gas stoves, storing water in tubs, trying to improve their own education via self-teaching or doing volutary career development / side jobs to fund private further education, etc. It's a mindset, to think: what can I do today, to make myself more resilient tomorrow? What can I do today, to build up myself and my community for tomorrow? And it's a mindset everyone here needs, regardless of skin colour or income bracket.
@@lodeleaf6401 The middle class is not sending their kids overseas or taking their kids to private schools. They are not putting up solar panels. They are the teachers and nurses and police people of every day. I don't see how that group of people could be sending their kids overseas if they are struggling to afford University fees for their own children. I think that maybe he thinks(Rob) he's talking to everyone but very few would be able to follow such advice and very least the "middle class" we think this advice is for.
@@lodeleaf6401 You are correct in that it's a mindset we believe we need to have but I disagree that it is the mindset the middle class has at the moment. I would also take a leap and say that, the black middle class who you know might be slightly above the middle class. The middle class does that meet the criteria you've described: borehole, solar panels, water tanks, private education, private medical aid. The middle class may, fulfill 2 or 3 of prescribed qualifications and that is due to affordability more than mindset.
@@bluecheese861 Maybe middle class is not the correct term for what I was looking for. I meant professionals, but who aren't millionaires. Maybe that's upper middle class. People who are engineers, accountants, doctors, dentists, veterinarians, researchers, lawyers (not the high profile lawyer types, just the average types) and lots of people who own their own businesses but who aren't rich. These people definitely are installing solar panels, sending their kids to private schools, etc. Only the corrupt and the truly rich can afford to send their kids overseas to study, most of the folks I'm talking about, can't afford that. The middle class people who you are referring to, teachers, police, technicians, etc... are doing what they can to state proof themselves... albeit much more budget constrained. Like getting a small backup battery but not a full solar system, a solar charger for their phone, getting gas stoves (the camping types, not the fancy types), and some are even trying to learn to reskill themselves in what little free time they have, e.g. learning how to do day trading for extra income. Everyone, regardless of income, should be storing extra water in containers (and know how to sterilize it), because the water supply is becoming more and more erratic. Everyone should be part of a community watch or network, to help improve security where they live. Everyone should learn how to grow at least some of their own food, even if it is just parsley on the window sill (parsley is very nutritional, all the vitamin C you need to survive). Everyone should try and maintain their own health. Everyone should work to improve their own knowledge and skills... this is the one thing that government cannot destroy. All of these things can be seen as forms of state proofing yourself, even if you cannot afford all the things like financial investments overseas etc that many of these youtube vids talk about.
It's quite concerning to see so many dismiss the markets. Remember Des van Rooyen, Minister of Finance? The markets will react swiftly to an unfavorable alliance. I concur! We lost loved ones in the Border War because our country wanted the Communists as far as possible from South Africa. I don't care if people think it was because they wanted the cointry white, that was never the goal!!!
All because the "capitalist" West supported an apartheid government is SA. Imagine if the capitalist West had been morally on the correct side from the word go, and opposed apartheid system and government in SA. The oppressed black majority would never have had to turn to the communists for help. An inconvenient truth you skip over.
The "Border War" was about maintaining white "Afrikaner" Baaskap in Southern Africa. The objective was to destroy the newly independent, non-aligned (not "communist") neighbouring countries and to install criminal proxies like RENAMO, an organisation funded by the NP that even the US State Department dubbed "the African Khmer Rouge"!
Where are the investors here ? RAM took money for himself because it wasn't for the good of the country.
On point

The ANC has been working for you for the past 30years, if you were rich pre 94 you are super rich in 2024. If you were poor pre 1994 you are languishing in poverty, both scenarios are because of the ANC.
You cannot blame people for wanting to try something else, their lives are already dire, they have nothing to lose, only you are scared of the prospects of losing ur investments.

May the KZN province wake up as our political leaders are all about themselves. Nkosi Sikelela iAfrica.t
This is AZANIA land!
What about those of us who live in KZN and can't afford to move to the Cape? It's too expensive for many of us here - Cape housing etc much more pricey than KZN, esp for we retirees
It makes sense for the Indians & Whites living in Natal, to secede from Natal by forming their own Territories.
Bro they are so called socialists they just want to implement crony-capitalism giving key sectors to family, friends and colleagues just like putin does in russia ✌️
Down grade ,even to 1 bedroom,as long as you get out of KZN,its going to turn into the Gaza strip. When those Zulus get angry, they turn into barbarians
People in SA ,can all enjoy what the City of cape town enjoys. They just need to go out and vote.DA runs the city of cape town...they can clean up cities ,if people vote for them.Every DA supporter ,just needs to convince 1 ,non DA supporter to see what the DA has done to the city of Cape town ...and then we are in business....and then nobody needs to leave Kzn as then it will become under the DA a well managed city as well...where there will be rules and people are held accountable to the citizens. But people need to go and register to vote and then vote on the voting days. Its too important not to vote. Its everybody's future at risk if peolle don't vote.
Then please ,DA voters ,need to convince 1 more voter to vote for the DA as the da shows sa ,how well run cities run like the Cape..and then u don't have to move.Durban is falling apart ciz of mal management.Hold the people in power accountable.Choose good leaders.Get ever person ,over the age of 18 to get an id csrd .Register to vote. And vote.Make sure ur children ,family ,friends go and vote.Make it ur duty to do so.Its the only way out of the mess we in.
I agree with Rob. MK is serious trouble!
You are spot on, the minute he started talking about sending your kids overseas it dawned on me that this advice is for rich white families
I have to agree with Rob here.
Me too.
It's quite concerning to see so many dismiss the markets. Remember Des van Rooyen, Minister of Finance? The markets will react swiftly to an unfavorable alliance. Those who romanticize about the left, take note of the current exchange rate, fuel price, food prices,. Interest rate,... god forbid you have a home or car loan. The negative impact of a ANC MK alliance will dawf the Des van Rooyen debacle.
These guys are the ones that feed back Intel to Investors
Rob is correct
Sub-contracted your thinking to Rob, Emily?
What is he correct about be specific?
Africans will cry those who wants a ANC-DA coalition
I don't think so
No we won't cry
See - DA delivers for the poor and vulnerable, BusinessDay.
See- Impressive new school in the Western Cape, UA-cam.
For those of us who are old enough remember MK as the armed wing of the ANC. So what are they now??? They are very dangerous.
Rob hasn't been right about previous issues. I thought he was stepping away from politics??!!
Still can't believe he was Punting for PA!
I would put EFF & MK on a par with each other.
Ja. He quickly made an about face re the PA. i WONDER WHO JERKED HIS CHAIN?
I live in kzn. Very sad to hear him speak of kzn as a lost cause. 😢

You guys should learn to respect the democratic process. You treat the people who voted Zuma with do much disdain. This is what happens when so called wealthy white businessmen throw the principles of enlightenment under the bus. Just because you revile the man and what he represents shouldn't stop you from holding onto your thoughts instead of blurting it out at every turn. It's infantile and bad for business. Your business.
Total lack of respect!
I agree.
Need to acknowledge that Zuma is beloved by many.
Our election just proved that.
It's not about white it's about who's dangerous and can destroy our country
Zuma is corrupt like really
MK absolutely is worse and more dangerous than the EFF-do not mistake that fact
Greed tunnel vision, all he cares about are his Billions more then the plight of the people. MK is here to stay deal with it

We need a growing economy.
yes! but pls tell the white man that calling a bantu "socialist" is not an insult, it's high praise indeed---it's like we do not live in the same world, they still want the things that didn't work for everybody under apartheid. But then they are telling us that we shouldn't view China or Russia as a success....
Hersov is right. MK is more scary than EFF. Malema is all talk and no action yet MK is quick to act and dont have time to respect.
I don’t think u know what u’re talking about. U’re just projecting your fears
Herzov will make a great politician - great flip flopper - 1st ANC and its constituency Voetsek and now ANC great

It’s a crazy idea, Mr Secessionist!!!
The Zulus are still at grass roots a united people with a strong demographic (over 11 million) & historical pride. Who told you that? MK is the nicest party that will do wonders for SA, you should have voted for MK.
A very insightful interview. Thanks. This month marks our 25th anniversary leaving SA. Still no regrets. When I have returned to SA on few occasions, I feel more and more like a stranger in a strange land. Having spent roughly half my life between SA and New Zealand, let me tell you Rob, predictability is a wonderful thing. No, it isn’t perfect but politically NZ is designed to run as a coalition (MMP). I think it was Chris Gibbons (702 days) once said something along the lines of: “ When you need a gun to feel safe in a country, it’s time to leave”. You made a comment that I interpret as you feel the need to have a firearm. Maybe it’s time…. I sold my gun shortly after hearing that comment and left for good.
We are happy you left. 🎉
The good thing with being poor is that you are ready for any change. Viva MK
Sadly that was my first thought when the results were released. MK and EFF are the biggest threats to South Africa.
😂how and how does that will affect you?
Shame clever black
I believe that the DA is the biggest threat, they'd sell this country, divide it and separate Cape Town from South Africa.

The "Border War" was about maintaining white "Afrikaner" Baaskap in Southern Africa.
