Unboxing Elice A3 lightpad - features (good and bad) and how to use it

- I was approached by Elice UK to see if I would like to try and review an A3 light pad. The easy answer was YES PLEASE, as I already use A4 light pads when teaching portrait workshops and I had been eyeing up an A3 one. Just to prove I won't say yes to anything, I turned down lycra sportswear and dog outfits on Instagram (I don't do sport and don't have a dog - what were they thinking???). I was also intrigued, as it is rechargeable light pad and I hadn't seen one of those before.
This is an honest review. If I hated it, I would have returned it, but I think it will come in very handy. I take you through the features and show you how I might use it with watercolour paper and how it might also help with photography. I know lots of people use light pads for diamond painting, but I can't help with that. My only experience with diamond painting was trying to stop copyright infringement when some of my paintings were stolen and turned into kits - not a happy time!!

I am not sure if this exact light pad is available in other countries, but it is worth looking to see if you can get a battery /rechargeable one. That's really useful.

Glad it helped! I use this all the time. The battery feature is really handy, as I can never find a cable when I need one…

I have never tried one of those. They seem to be quite convenient!
They are super useful. no substitute for drawing skills, but a real time saver.
I wonder if the yellow light on the lightbox is for people who find it difficult to read black on white yet find it easier on yellow.

Thanks Liz. I have been looking at light pads, but couldn't get answer as to whether you can see though 300gsm paper so I gave up. Well now I know. Maybe after Christmas I will consider getting one.
it really helps using it in a dimly lit place. I sometimes hide under my desk to use it, if the sun is bright. But yes, 300gsm is no problem.

Do you think the battery is good? How long does it last till you have to charge it? I like to draw in bed but my partner wants to watch tv and hates the light on and this would be brilliant so I can draw at night with tv but still see what I’m drawing as I don’t have a side light or anything! Thanks ❤
I’ve really found the battery good and it seems to last. I am only using it for short periods, but it seems to hold the charge well.
That box with square spaces you can use for something like neocolor 2 crayons shavings so you dont waste shavings or color pencil shaving also.my husband gave me his old fishing tackle one I use it for my shavings it's just a thought tho.....mikelle art mom👩🎨✍🎨
Don’t worry, I’ve kept it as it is going to be perfect for something! Saving the shavings is super frugal- I’m impressed!
