@@berserker2551 i) I don't think that's at all true ii) Sometimes it really is best for the bass just to follow the root notes or otherwise play something 'boring'.
@@_Stroda Dude, I can understand when a song works with something simpler, more doesn't always mean better. But come on, can't they do something more interesting? Some variation in the Riffs, some articulation in a transition, some bass solo in the bridge, in short something more interesting.........
Atmospheric Black Metal will never cease to get me into magic melancholy, it's terrific emotionally for me. Even if yours is in a funny 5 min instruction edit, that's a banger!
Doesn't matter if it is a joke/parody video on a subgenre, it's obvious you know pretty well how to do black metal, and pretty much you're a master in the craft of creating this kind of songs, you're really a good musician.
I'm so happy you made this and made a killer song in the end. I know you weren't the biggest fan of the style but it's my 100% favorite these days, brings up a lot of emotions when I listen to bands that play it.
Man I love the vocals damn my favourite style, at work when I'm tired of talking on discord I'm saying that "I'm going to listen to sad gernans in the forest" and after 1 album of Nyktalgia I'm recharged (gamedev is fun until you work there)
I like how Varg used to make it's confusing, trust me, but he incirporates simple mix with clean uninterapted solos, wearing it down with more solos hitting super high tones like nibbling the string and being himself in the studio. And he shows like style being badass on the guitar, and entrances the listener sir.
The simple drums really add so much to this style of black metal when the performance is really tight. While the parts themselves aren't particularly complicated, I can listen to just the raw drum tracks from a Drudkh album and I'd be totally satisfied.
im seeing that immortal banner in the background. i cant tell you the number of times ive wanted to see heart of winter get an instrumental release. i mean the entire record.
Oh my, ..what a tasty riff! Very nice Farvann! Very tasty indeed. Nothing better than a tutorial that places me in the middle of winter, the not so distant howling of wolves, & my word, is it cold.. Great stuff, man! Always enjoy your uploads!
How am I just dicscovering your channel now.. First thought you were going to take the piss, and then you make this masterpiece. What a legend. Subbed and thank you!
0:53 Farvann playing BM at a campfire while going down a creek... Okay, I was not expecting that🎸🔥😂 love the vibe of this song. The bass sounds awesome 👍
Pyramids are my favorite atmospheric black metal band, definitely check them out if you're getting into this. "A Northern Meadow" is the most accessible of their two albums. They did some collabs with Nadja as well. Jesu and Loveliescrushing did some remixes of songs off their first album which is extremely experimental. On that album, I'd start off with Sleds, then The Echo of Something Lovely, then End Resolve (my favorite), and Hellmonk
Hi mate! This was awesome! I am a drummer actually, but ...haha ... I know the circle of fifth. And the day is near, when I will have composed my own song... I guess. Sometime! With your tutorials. Thanks for your content! Voll gut! Grüße aus Melle, Niedersachsen.
Farvann, I just wanted to say I love your videos, and I wanted to know if you had any tips on improving my tremolo picking and guitar playing in general.
The most precious thing about atmospheric bm is that it doesn’t need much to convey emotions and sound awesome. Not everything has to be super complex to be good. Sometimes simplicity wins the game. The video and song are awesome ♥️
A string bend? What am I, David Gilmour?
bending strings? thats edible?
Love it when something is done with the bass other than root notes
Agreed. 🤘
Unfortunately the ideology of simple and boring bass is so deep in the minds of musicians that few dare to do something interesting.
imagine playing only root notes... but not playing them on guitar

I love how harrowing the music sounds in its agonizing, cold dreaded way. Good job.
