Yes i was there for the WHOLE Memorial day 1985 concert!! We left Neubrucke AIN Germany And drove up to Nueburgring and camped out there with Jim Childress and a few others!! It was simply OUTSTANDING and UNFORGETTABLE ❤❤❤❤
Just turned 60. That concert is a milestone in my life, really. I remember considering buying a ticket. Was like 50-55 Mark at that time. A fortune for a young lad at that time. Me and a pack of maybe 10 lads bought tickets, wnt there. Camping, of course. We burned our asses in the heat at that time, Pentecost long weekend. Lot's of beer. What a great time!! It took ages to get aware of what a bunch of great bands and music i could enjoy that long weekend. For 50 bucks. Unbelievable. Just listened to Westernhagen and his "ich hoffe dass ihr .. " I remember that very well. He was completely stoned at his performance. But you couldn't see it even at the front rows where i have been. One of our ladies was mentioning she needs to be fit to watch Marillion and goes to bed. I had no clue about them at that time. I skipped them. Well, that changed ;-) For the uploader: Thank you so much!
@HobgobLyn 1 I remember Huey tripping out on the huge 75,000 people crowd. I think he said something like "HOLY SHIT"!! He threw his harmonica out into the crowd after his performance. I saw him again after that at a small venue in Frankfurt. My buddy and I got there early and got front row right at the stage. It was a standing only venue, no seats
Was talking about this concert the other day, and just now found my 'original' ticket stub that I bought at the PX while I was stationed over there. There was no WAY I was going to miss this event. Had to keep our tickets because that was the way you got to either stay-or- get back in. 3 day event where most of us American service members just camped out on the grass. I still look for myself in the crowd just next to the sound stage where we knew to sounds would be awesome. I have passed this event on to: Together we served, an organization to bring old military members together again. If you were there and served, I suggest that you go heck it out & become a member. For every comment that said they were there, I'm hitting that thumbs up & suggest you do the same.
@HobgobLyn 1 I remember the RATT rigs there. I was in HHC DISCOM. My roommate was in DISCOM signal. Did you know anyone from DISCOM signal? I don't remember the red Capri turbo. I drove a yellow Opel Reckord and my roomy had a yellow Trans Am. Definitely didn't see me at El Barco, but we did frequent Dixie's on a regular
If the people in the audience only knew what the sad state the future of music would become they would be eating this up! The 60's, 70's and 80's will forever be the Golden age of music!
I too was at that concert in 85, was the best concert I ever went too, no fights just alot of partying and so much fun. @Jimmytucker, I was in Gelnhausen during that time, in 3/33 but worked also at the dispensary.

Unvergessen. Mit fettem Sonnenbrand nach Hause!
Awesome times! I was there, camping for the entire event. I was stationed in Bad Hersfeld with the 3/11th ACR, and didn't really have "permission" to go, but I wasn't going to miss it. I'm from Michigan, USA.
In retrospect, it sucks that I could not make the Saturday show, I missed REO Speedwagon! I did not have a chance to see them again until Dec 2000 in Asheville NC with Styx. Luckily I had the chance to see Styx at their APEX! I was fortunate enough to see the 'Paradise Theatre' tour at the Frankfurt Festhalle in Oct 81. What a great show!
Great concert. We went there for the Saturday. But it seems rather weird that the documentary shows no bit of the two headliners of that day whom we especially came to see which were U2 and Chris de Burgh who both played fantastic concerts.
Dambit Gumby, I missed Jesse's Girl, live! I think I missed Loverboy on Saturday too. I will find out soon enough all the bands I missed on Saturday. Kids reading this, it was a two day ticket. I think it was DM75, which would have been around 30 bucks in 1985! About 75bucks in today's money!
Dude, I have slept a lot since then. Like I said, I had to work that Saturday and missed the whole day. I just know that there were a lot of good bands both days, and I was only able to go that Sunday. Hard to believe that was 32 years ago!
Don't you find it odd that none of this is in the order of appearance? I mean, Foreigner was the last act on Sunday night and then the fireworks. Unfortunate for me, I had to work Saturday and got to the Ring about 10:30 Sunday morning. What a day, a few biers, a few shots of Asbach and hit the greens about twice during the show. Enjoyed Huey Lewis, Night Ranger, The Alarm, and Foreigner most of all. I can never forget that day, they estimated the crowd to be around 79,000. It seemed to be about 55% Deutsche, and 45% American. No big fights or problems. It was in a different time for sure. I really enjoyed my youth. This was a great day to be alive in Deutschland!
my father don't could get there cuz we had soviet communist times. on those times in NRD(DDR) and all eastern europe . me and my father jealousy ,anyone was be there on those good times
Was fur Zeiten, einige der schönsten Erinnerungen.
Das war noch wirkliche Freiheit. Ich bin so froh in dieser Zeit groß geworden zu sein.

Irgendwie herzerfrischen zu hören, dass auch ein Profi wie der Gitarrist von Huey Lewis mal daneben greift. 🙂
