    it would be nice to see everything more up close. can’t see anything she’s doing because 3/4 of the screen are taken up by the mannequin and random hospital equipment, cant see how she sets her stuff up

    Wrong. remove your dirty gloves after suctioning then put on a new gloves to listen to breath sounds. 😊

    Love the moment she doesn't see the water box, and just get flustered, that's nursing personified. 😀

    I am beyond annoyed by the opinions. Watch to take what you need and discard what you don’t. If you want attention make your own video so others can critique you.

    You should throw the suction catheter together with the disposable gloves. Instead, you touched your stethoscope with your gloves on.

      I will note that but thats the safest thing to do for sterilization and safety

    They would have failed me for touching the sterile water with my sterile gloves since you touched it with your bare hand

      The hand that touched the water bottle is no longer sterile.

    Why in this skill are you not using hyperoxygenation for this patient? In our skills we have to use oxygen between each pass. Is this more similar to real life practice?

      In the audio she mentioned about the source of O2 to place back in between the suctioning procedure, IF REQUIRED. During the suctioning it's not mandatory to place O2 back to the patient in between the procedure until and unless indicated. Each suction should not exceed more than 10 sec. Hyperoxygenate the patient prior and immediately after the suctioning.

      Hyperoxegenation is old fashioned and proved to be more harmful due to the free radical damage and other metabolic issues. Aim to keep saturations within the target and only supplement oxygen if required.

    How does the patient breathe during this procedure if he is 100% dependent on the ventilator for breathing?

    • @izzir8537
      @izzir8537 Рік тому +3

      Hyperoxygenate prior to suctioning. Limit each pass to no more than 10 seconds. If the pt desaturates to say low 80s, withdraw the catheter and huperoxygenate.
      If the pt is oxygen sensitive hyperoxygenate in btn each pass of suctioning. Do not do more than 3 passes in 1 minute

    How can you tell if the suctioning tube is inserted too deep and is it causing more damage than good results?

    • @franny5295
      @franny5295 Місяць тому +2

      Just be gentle and when you feel resistance back up a little before you start suctioning. If they're awake they'll cough. Don't ram it down there.

    Should the patient not be fully supine ? Keeping patient propped up can increase the risk of damaging the alveolie
