Super fantastic! Thank you for the video. You have quite the teaching voice and I LOVE how thorough you were explaining every single thing you did. I feel like if I watch this a few more times, I might be ready. Wish me luck!!
This is a little unrealistic in the real world. If someone is needing suctioning, you must work very fast. Also, they likely won't be able to take deep breaths before suctioning them. So what you will likely find happen is you can give oxygen while setting up, then suction them initially before asking them to take deep breaths. If you ask them to take deep breaths with a mucus plug, they could end up choking, or inhaling the mucus leading to pneumonia. Between suctioning, then you can reapply oxygen mask so that their oxygen doesn't dip too low. This is a tip from an experienced RN, that has worked with trach patients for many years.
Depth of sunctioning is so important, generally 2 cms more than trachy size otherwise you are just causing discomfort and damage, and fear in the patient! Trachy size and depth of suctioning is so important!
@ Have you ever tried to listen to a detailed instructional video with someone wearing a mask? It's frustrating and needlessly painstakingly difficult. Calm down, Karen. She did fantastic job, despite however you "were taught".
It’s a great video with good content but the suction catheter when inserted inside shouldn’t be moved round i guess because it makes the patient cough and can hurt them. and if the suction catheter is folded round like she did in her hands, is suction is 100%?
I’m very observant and pay attention to all nurses, cnas, mds, actions in the hospital where my spouse is. When they do the procedure you are showing they never use the sterile gloves but the ones are in the boxes near the door. A Scared spouse in one of Las Vegas hospitals.
i think better educate ur self, shes giving a tutorial demo ofcourse she must show and trach the proper and reality way, she must noted not all patients with trach can speak, she must not that either on speaking valve or not, and first of all, are we taking this demo for doing this procedure for dummy??? theres other way u can check like wrist id band if correspond with the patient name on case file if patient with trache without speaking valve or on non fenestrated tube, depends on what type of trach tube shes on , its not simply just like that, i think better they have to review their video bfore posting and u besure u know what ur talking and better educate more of urself not in a dummy😏

excellent, im taking care of my mother and you had help me even better then her own doctors. thank you so much.
Is a blessing having to take care of your parents. I did my mom too
Not the doctor's job. Nurse or a respiratory therapist is supposed to teach patient/family on trach care.

I did All that when I was working in London united kingdom. I love this Job ❤❤❤
terrific presentation! I've learned from this short video
Thank you so much indeed for such an organized demo.
It's awesome that the sterile gloves fit her so well. I hate how they are not even close to fitting me
Good explanation mam
It was a very detailed video, however, I wonder why you didn't wear a mask/mask with shield? Thank you.
i think it is so that she can be clearly heard clearly since it's a demonstration vid.
well she’s only demonstrating, she should have mentioned that yes but it is a mannequin
No need to wear a mask before covid
It is just an educational video so don't need to wear any masks , i will not be able to hear the educational voice well if she wear mask 🙂🙂🙂🙂

thank you very much.
What are you listening for ??
Ask the patient his first and last name while on trach???
Some trachs are fenestrated. They have a little hole on the tubing inside that allows you to speak.

You are wearing ring and watch.that is not good sign
We're allowed to wear a watch and a simple wedding band. 🙄
According to WHO you have to remove your ring as well as watch. In order to clean every aspect of your hand and wrist.
She said she gonna ask her name to state, are u serious shes on tracheostomy ofcourse the patient cant speak though🙄
Not all people with tracheostomy loses their ability to speak. Educate yourself before you open your mouth. Dummy

She's slow.
She's slow because she's teaching... speed the video up to 1.5 if you have a problem.
