I don’t think so. If fluids running I would have turned them off for 10 min before drawing the blood. The lab technician said it was off because I drew from a peripheral IV site. The lab tech in hematology said the CBC additives in the tube might have had prevented abnormal results. I’m so confused idk. Thanks for your help!

Could be incorrect order of draw if they’re saying it was preservatives. Sorry I’m not much help on this. There isn’t anything inherently different about blood drawn from a peripheral vs a butterfly.

Hi, before I watched your video on lab draws through a peripheral IV I was never able to do it. Now I do it all of the time! I have a question when I drew blood for a CMP, CBC, and Troponin the CMP results were skewed but the CBC and trop was fine. The pt’s catheter was a 22g. Do u have any idea why this happened? Thank you!

My first thought would be a dilution problem. Was something actively running though that line right before you drew them, or was there another line lower down the same arm running while you drew the lab? I don’t know why that wouldn’t impact all the labs drawn at that time though.

How deep the catheter for airway suctioning goes down? Poking too deep like 50cm??? Or 30cm?
