- The Cold War era was a breakthrough time for anti-aircraft warfare. AA weapon systems started utilizing radars and other sophisticated gadgets to become even more effective at hunting down aircraft. In War Thunder, SPAA vehicles of the era are mainly found at mid to high ranks of the Ground Forces tech tree; their main responsibility is to keep the sky clean of subsonic and early supersonic aircraft. Today we’re going to talk about the most interesting of the bunch.

Your guys can't just nerf every SPAA that could do something against CAS and then release a video called protecting the sky's, like wtf.
pantsir still being multitudes better than any other SPAA ingame
it is the biggest cope they do. CAS enjoyers must have cried rivers due to the VEAK... still no ground mode in the game despite tanks being there for years

RIP VEAK, you will be sorely missed. Kinda wish I could get my GE back for the talisman on it honestly, first it was put to rank 5 making it useless to grind with (swapped places with the leo 2 marksman), then it had its fuze rounds removed..
I was using that thing at 10.3 gaijin, since the other options are awful in comparison. Why would I want a fast turret that can aim up on an AA, right? .-.

Biggest downgrade was the VEAK 40, like come on man not all vehicles in warthunder has history accurate rounds the poor thing got massacred.

If you are going to remove the VEAK's proxy fuze at least add the ACTUAL finnish ZSU-57, the ZSU-57-2M that used proxy fuze ammo.
Add the T-55 Marksman which is the other ItPsV 90, put it at 8.7 and move the ItPsV 90 Leo 2 to 9.0+
+ give finland Bmp2-md

+Make the stormer hvm accurate, 100mm of pen and auto guided missiles not this 30mm of pen and manual guided garbage
@@theporschetigertbf, the BMP-2MD in game would essentially be a BMP-2 that trades it's ATGM (as in, it doesn't have one, just the cannon) for a little bit of extra armor and (better) thermals.
Give VEAK proxy back and put it to 9.0 to have no lineup

VEAK should get its proxy rounds back even if the br is pushed up because it is arguably the most usable aa for sweden until 10.0

To my knowledge the OTOMATIC is/was a prototype. All of the vehicles shown have been and some are still in active service.

BRING BACK THE VEAK-40 PROXY SHELLS
The veak was the best spaa in his br, but they took away his best ammunition and now he became one of the worst. Taking away his grace was not the way to nerf him. Besides, it is still a spaa that is quite easy to destroy and does not have too much ammunition, so every shot counts.
I double dare Gaijin do this video from the random battles to see how much "fun", "quick" and "balanced" of CAS in realistic ground battle game mode are.
In IRL the range of the Sgt York radar was limited to 10km by design, however it covered the full hemisphere unlike how it's currently modeled in War Thunder. It also featured a laser tracker that could track air and ground targets without radar input. The max range was about 8km instead of only 4km in WT.
VEAK, no longer in my line up. 😢
Honestly id consider the Bkan1 as an AA for helicopters 😅

9.0 because otherwise it would fit into a lineup and they wanted to nerf it also i would still use it in my otherwise 8.7 lineup with it being the highest br also im just making excuses to not say it needs to be at a br to see 292
4:10 Yeah and that is why you gave it only full HE belt and the smallest apds belt in game which is btw a tier 4 mod.
Also the HE for some reason auto detonates after 3km of flight so good luck dealing with even the most basic heli ATGMs.
Imagine having only HE at stock as SPAA ☠️
these are all cool and all, but when's the american ADATS getting fixed so the gunner optic can actually aim the missiles?
Wait how do you guide adats missiles then? I don't have it yet I'm pretty close but if you can't guide them in gunners optics how do you even use them?
@@ThunDoom1116 it can guide them, as long as you're not trying to aim higher than 59 degrees. IRl the missiles have an 85 degree elevation, which was finally put in game for the american one last year. the gunner optic has a -5/+90 elevation so it can aim the 25mm and the missiles, in game it is locked to the 25mm and has a -5/+59, so anything above 59 degrees and you can't lock onto anything and have to use third person to aim the missiles, which obviously is not very easy cause any slight movements makes it so your missile flies all over the place due to the ATGM changes.
Give the Veak the prox rounds back, give Sweden the Zsu 57m with proxy (historically accurate because apparently you guys care) and give sweden the Emil (Sweden native heavy)

VEAK 40 was good until it was killed by removing the HE-VT rounds...
Those airburst 40mm on the M247 are pretty effective at downing aircraft, and those delay fuse 40mm are a real game changer when going up against tanks and armored vehicles. I've gotten some really expected kills on MBTs with those little guys.
the SAPHE is pretty bad ngl, I can't even pen MBTs from the side while all the 35mm guns can front pen the Abrams, its the only SPAA in that range to not have actual AP rounds even though its the second highest BR guns-only SPAA. the only higher gun-only SPAA is the OTOMATIC, which gets APFSDS that pens 300mm.
The AMX 30 DCA is so much fun to play because it's an anti everything at it's BR
I place my bet on Gaijin thinking that nerfing all SPAA's except Russian and Chinese is not enough, they will make them useless I guarantee you.
Not one person to mention the Rooikat ZA-35? You know, the 8x8 with 120km off-road in wt, a tall search radar to see over the trees and a TV/IR guided optical tracking system lifted from the ADATS which means so long as you can see the target no need to even have the radar on, meaning no RWR ..... Nup you right why should Britain make the list?

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I do believe that the R3 T20 was developed in the 1960s and is classified as an SPAA in the game; therefore making it a Cold War SPAA. If this is true, why wasn’t it in the video?

@@ThunDoom1116 we have realistic battles that is mixed with CAS, i mean a mode with only ground vehicles, but gaijin will never do it cause of premiuns aircrafts that they sell, because CAS players dont want fight CAS, They like to bomb defenseless tanks

BRING BACK PROXY SHELL FOR VEAK40, its the only decent SPAA for sweden before ito90. i dont care if it has to be going up in battle rating to get proxy back.

Why does the M247 only have 38mm of penetration now? Didnt it used to be able to actually kill tanks that are attacking it? I can only get their tracks slightly damaged now and cant pen their side armour even.
It was overpressure that made M247 a tank killer before. They fixed that and now it cant do much against tanks
The ZSU-23-4M4 i believe is one of most insane firepower ok no good mobility but funny sound of his guns

After some research it apear the VEAK has a proxy sell just not the one you guys removed now, pls give it back becose it was the only thing making it good as an actual AA. CAS is a huge problem and you guys just made it easyer, taking that into consideration that the itpz is not a good AA as anti aircraft and we dont talk about the lvbr
idk what research you found, but proxy rounds for the L70 bofors were not created until the 70s, the VEAK was built in the 60s and never entered service, and was scrapped before the proxy rounds were made.
@@mlgrocket doesn't matter, if the gun could fire the proxy round, it should have it. going by this logic the is-2 shouldn't get br-471d because this shell came after ww2, same with the apds on early swedish tanks.
@@soldatnr444 then put in tickets and show them evidence those vehicles never had those things, cause that's how the veak lost the proxy it never had, nor could ever have. someone put in a ticket, showed evidence, and the rounds got removed.
I wouldnt be surprised if the person who submitted the ticket to have the proxy shells removed was a CAS main
If it was put into service i bet it would have eventually gotten the proxy which is in my opinion enough for it to get it

My favourite SPAA is AMX 30 DCA
if you see any video for the Gepard ... you will see that HAS only 40shells for anti tank purpose... and is hard to reach them from the crew cause are stored on the outside of the vehicle .....
but why we dont leave the players play SPAA like antitanks... is historical accurate.. like the soviet armor and shells .. like the nerfed to death US tanks... and all those good sweet sugar thing.

I really like Shilkas, but if you count that the cold war ended in '89, then I would put Tunguska on the first place.
Although I like SPAAs, rewards for destroying planes are not something one can enjoy (at least until you're a masochist).

@@MeThorvald it was certainly symbolic but I’d say the fall of the Soviet Union itself marked the end of the Cold War, which happened in 91, doesn’t make much sense that it’d end in 89 when the Soviets(the enemy) were still around for 2 years after that

What is this bullshit about sidam having great firepower. The main 600 round belt is pure HE with low velocity, 3mm of penetration so it can not kill any ground vehicles it faces and to top it off it has a rigid range limit of less than 3km because the rounds just auto detonate at that distance. The APDS belt which is the only thing you can use for killing vehicles and targets more than 2,5km out is a tier 4 modification, so it takes ages to research and you are limited to so little that you cant even disable a barrel and tracks of a tank with it without running out.
