- After WWI, tanks became a fixture of European battlefields, but the US, mostly because of the local geographic conditions, was not as impressed with the whole idea. That’s why, at the start of WW2, the American army found itself in a pretty precarious place as their tanks were simply not adequate to the tasks at hand.

Considering the armor doesn't save any of them, I prefer the Hellcat for its speed.
I once fired 5 AP rounds at m18 but it didn't die Then I fired an HE round then it died !
@@user-sgt_kerryYeah depending on the caliber, some guns may just rip through the armor. I've tried it in my Dicker Max while playing sim battles, and had to load HE to actually be able to kill an M18
Some of the most fun I've ever had in WT was driving the M18 in hit-and-run flanking attacks on the enemy team while blasting the Halo warthog run theme. The hellcat will always be very special to me.

Look I am 12yrs old child, so I go to school, and I have exam next week so I'm very busy guy! But at the moment, I never saw M18 in the Invasion of Normandy Champaign, So I don't think there is any M18 in game but in WarThunder it is Fantastic.
The basic M36 at 5.3 is an amazing monster. Great gun, fast acceleration and amazing turret handling. I often dominate with it. It's not as fast as the M18, but in small to mix sized maps it'll out accelerate it and beat the Hellcat to hiding spots and objectives, with far better firepower.
Its one of my favorite mid tier vehicles, along with the m6a1
I’m a fan of the M10, but soon became a fan of the M36 after I found out my grandfather was a tank commander of one in the Italian Army in the 1950s. The Italians used a lot of ex-US tanks after they left them there after WWII. An interesting side story of American Armor!
My favorite is the M36B1. I have been waiting for it to arrive on the U.S. tech tree. For 5 years now.
When hellcats came out in WT on April 2015, they were going places no other tank could reach with such mobility then my personal favourite was introduced just a month later and ive been playing ever since the M18 90mm Gun Motor Carriage aka 'Super Hellcat'

When fighting tigers and K1s, cant beat the 90mm 240mm penetration the M36 offers.

My favorite TD is the M10. Does excellent in full uptiers and shreds downtiers, you just need to play smart.
The turret rotation speed made me enjoy this vehicle less than it otherwise should.

I like them all for different reasons. Very effective.
Yet M18 is designated as light tank in War Thunder (it was Tank Destroyer few years ago and then for some reason changed to light tank)
They give it light tank just to give it spotting , it dont change anything for the gameplay

no, the m10, although hastily designed was a real attempt at creating a good tank destroyer and it was.
The m18 that "replaed" it(they served side by side) was actually created to serve a different purpose.
The m10 was build to be a traditional tank destroyer, a self propelled tank destroyer if you will.
Whilst the m18 was developed to be more of a flanking tank destroyer.

Can’t you guys please fix the panther’s mantlet so that the American 76mm can pen it consistently as it should? The in-game volumetric gives the Panther’s mantlet an unrealistic amount of armor sometimes

The US should get a Tiger 2 since we captured one towards the very end of the way. However, the tank was outside of a bar or pub and the owner gave the US company free booze, alcohol and other bottles to keep the Tiger 2 outside where it is. Still their to this day.

When will we get actual SPGs based on M3 and M4 chassis for US tech tree and not mainline Tank Destroyers like M10/M18/M36? Germany has a lot of those high caliber SPGs, USSR has a few as well and US doesn't have any high calibre SPGs.
What I would love is for them to add SPGs that then you can aim by using the map to actually do SPG things.

Why is the M18 in that list? It is a light tank in the game not a tank destroyer :D despite being a TD in real life.
The bearcat is my favorite it's fast its a point capper at a 5 br rating I've used it at 6 thru 8 br and was wrecking tanks and caping points 😅

It’s amazing and scary at the same time, knowing the German tank technology was years ahead of the US because of environment that provided so much test results. While in America and because of the distance from Europe, advancements were not achieved only years later after entering the war.

Eh, because it kinda is. There is no definitive definition of a “tank”. The M18 fits many of the descriptions people would give of a tank. Only “non-tank” thing about it really is the open-top turret
