“Aggressive approach”?? Can the media stop spinning this as some back and forth and the union “tactics” being heavy handed? It’s decades of aggressive management choices, aggressively large stock but backs, aggressively large executive pay. Then to spin this as the union not being reasonable? The union was reasonable in previous agreements when the the industry needed to work together to survive. We are well past survival for executives and shareholders but the workers are hit just as hard trying to survive.
You're worried about how bad it will get if workers go on strike. How about worrying about how bad it has been and will continue to be if we allow these companies to idle plants and move production to Mexico. These companies have been screwing us over and making empty promises. The workers have no choice, but to take a stand.
@chumps7974 you may not realize this, but the profit margin on a vehicle is around $20,000 profit. A vehicle is produced every minute. That's $1.2 million profit an hour over $20 million per day, Over $100 million per week, Over $5 Billion per year at just one plant. They really don't need to cut cost. The Big 3 are doing just fine.

“Rightfully”? What you need to understand is that the company doesn’t owe its workers ANYTHING past 9/14. When a contract ends, neither party owes anybody, anything. The company has fulfilled its contract and so have the workers at the end of the day on the 14th. Period.

That's actually a pretty good deal to get both a 10% raise and a one time inflation check. The problem is that it doesn't yield more production, so it's really just more inflation. Eventually this will all collapse on itself.

The most important thing is get rid of the tiers in Manufacturing,CCA’s and all other parts plants. I don’t know one person that asked for Juneteenth or a 32hr work week. The UAW needs to start prioritizing what we really want and need. Nobody in the industry should be making less than 28$ an hour starting point.

You have to lower costs somehow. If you can't cut material costs you have to labor costs.

For example????
As a consumer so would I.
