Watching this video, and was drawing a blank about Drag racing in San Diego. I used to ride my Yamaha XS650 Special out by Browns Field to watch TT Racing. Was at NAS North Island 1975-78.
Brother, I am amazed at the amount of fuel it can handle at full open throttle and as a single cylinder. Hats off brother. Video was awesome. GaMike 82fx wg
as usual, i can never get my race bikes to run correctly on a dyno. they are basically a waste of time. i take those small ass dyno jets out and put the big ones back in and it starts to run correctly again at the track. wait until i put it back onto the bottle again. the fuel volume goes way up. that two gallon fuel tank is not going to be big enough. tatro
computers do not work on nitro. the o2 sensor can not read the mix. making lots or tuning runs is the only option. 1-3 runs a race does not help on the tuning. tatro
If I said it once...i said it a thousand times...you got Spiderman, Superman and Tatroman!!!! Like Superhuman speeding bullet...more powerful then a locomotive...able to leap the Grand Canyon like Evil Knievel!!!!
dynos are not real world and my bike is made to go down the track. all i really wanted to do was see what ignition timing the motor wanted. i do the jetting at the track. tatro
that is why i do not like dynos. they are a waste of time for real world tuning. they are good for testing and see how things work but not for the finial tuning. the more inclosed your bike is the better the resuilts will be for your application. tatro
don't care about the numbers. dynos are not really world and are worthless for tuning a race bike. i wanted to know what the ignition wanted to be and i have something to go by now. the track will tell what this bike wants. tatro
Man that must be frustrating as hell .the Dyno not offer enough load to maintain cylinder pressure long enough to burn the nitro ? Years back I worked with a guy building turbo alky tractor pulling motors and guys would wanna Dyno them. A waste of time considering you'd pull so much fuel out of them just to get them to run through a Dyno pass . An actual pull against the sled you'd see 3 times the amount of fuel consumption and double the boost. The dynos just couldn't load the motors hard enough to burn the fuel let alone actually drive the turbos .
that sounds like a good reason to me. all i know is that they run like crap on a dyno and haul ass on the track. the air flow around the bike makes a big difference too. tatro
lots of oxygen needs lots of fuel. did you see how much fuel was burned on the dyno? i use over 2 gallons on those 8 to 10 dyno runs. i use over a gallon at the track on one 1.3 mile pass. with nos that will get close to 2 gallons. nitro and nos are like supercharging, they put more oxygen into the motor. those 5 nozzles are not for show, they are pouring fuel into the intake manifold at 28psi. tatro
Tatro as a 21 year old man I still hope I'm half as awesome as you when I grow up haha this is a little masterpiece

Single cylinder iron head still has a badass sound when decelerating !
What is it called when the bike sounds like that?

I was wondering when you would notice that rear tire rubbing on that diamond deck.
Thems some big fuel jets.👍🏻
tatro need his own dyno he was pissed. Every day is dyno day.
You need to consider an EFI system for that thing Keenan. A computer telling you about the fuel diagnostics would really help
computers do not work on nitro. the o2 sensor can not read the mix. making lots or tuning runs is the only option. 1-3 runs a race does not help on the tuning.

frigging awesome
nice well done

For a twingle that sounds incredible.
It would have been nice to have herd what was going on don’t you think chaps
Cool bike!
Do you have any videos of the bottom end build for this bike?
yes, in the racing playlist.
tatro
hey Tatro , im not much of a mechanic but could it be the carb, what was wrong with it , why was it cutting out ???? just curious
dynos are not real world and my bike is made to go down the track. all i really wanted to do was see what ignition timing the motor wanted. i do the jetting at the track.

Crazy, things change at high velocity speeds and the air fluid motion.
Dyno is static .

Tatro are you running a S&S Super B on this bike .I had one on a big twin long time age.
no, it is a turbo alky super D' carb on fuel. basicly the same as a B' but just alot bigger.

@@TatroMachine like a b cup to a d cup.
I’m gonna hit a garage sale until I find myself a Tatro tool bucket.
it is an old tupperwear cake cover. ebay

@@TatroMachine Hah! I knew it was Tupperware, and figured you lifted it off your Mom or Granny decades ago. Lmao.
the fastest Indian Monroe would be proud
i don't think so because i would be kicking his butt.

Tatro, Let me run your camera for a spell. You won't regret it.

I'm sure this is a dumb question so I apologize in advance for my ignorance. Does this engine only have one cylinder so it can run in the 650cc class?
bash5995 yes if you look at his other videos youd see him rebuilding it
Yea tatro have one 650cc rear cylinder on his motor. Its rule for his group when he is going speed run in salt lake.
Wolfdog Pete Holland Funny as hell!
Wolfdog Pete Holland Love French fries, just looking for a basket!
Your probably partially right, but in a previous vid, Tatro said he need the room for the huge intake and all nitro pumping, pump etc.
Just like Burt Monroe 😜
Nice bike
Cool that you put it on a dyno did you get the numbers you wanted
don't care about the numbers. dynos are not really world and are worthless for tuning a race bike. i wanted to know what the ignition wanted to be and i have something to go by now. the track will tell what this bike wants.
tatro
Tatro Machine ok so you were using it to get a better starting point or base line on timings
Tatro Machine never used a dyno it was all trail and error at the track that is why I asked thanks

I guess the guy in the red shirt was playing Mario Bros. Or Donkey Kong!!!!
man id want to strap the swing arm to the dyno i wouldnt trust not folding the forks
its not a swingarm. it is a bolt on rigid frame section. if it breaks on the dyno you better not ever ride it on the street.
tattro
focus on the schren
Is that a fuel pump or something out of a power washer....e-gads that thing pumps.
just more race car parts. too small, needs a bigger one so that i don't loose fuel pressure under full load.
tatro
Why would you need such a large fuel pump on a 650cc non-supercharged engine?
The engine runs on Alcohol\Nitromethane with NO2 for a power adder
lots of oxygen needs lots of fuel. did you see how much fuel was burned on the dyno? i use over 2 gallons on those 8 to 10 dyno runs. i use over a gallon at the track on one 1.3 mile pass. with nos that will get close to 2 gallons.

Hey Tatro...for all the marketing I do can I get a Tatro sticker and a Shirt...XL!!!???
Looks a little different than my 71 XLH.
thats because it is a 1979 sportster.
tatro
Why doesn't the cameraman focus on the dyno screen?
Because a guy is just holding for them and does not know any better.
What answer would satisfy you? lol. You'd have to ask the camera man.
nice creation...lol

Humongous jets.
That is some aggressive behaviour at 16:22, I would not put up with sh*t like that.
just another day of fun on my race bike. dynos suck, the more we worked on it the worse it ran. the real world is way different.
