Thanks so much for this! I wish there were groovy, interesting variations (ie anytime he plays them live) recorded for all the songs from this time, I love all the studio versions but hearing him play with Country really blows new life into it
I have admired this song since it was first recorded on the album My Song. And then it was played in the closing scene of the German film Mostly Martha to celebrate a great occasion. Thanks for posting this version of the song played by Keith and McPartland.
Probably worth noting that this is a duet. There are definitely passages of this gloriously beautiful anthem--that get a little sodden under the weight of four hands. I too wish that we had a solo version of Jarrett playing some of these early works.
@@jshaun7 I listened to it when broadcast. The late Marian McPartland suggested they play it together and they did. I believe she played the lower register melody with Keith the upper register melody.
Nah you’re thinking of the free piece they played together. This was the last piece where he said “I’ll play something,” and “I chose this piece because it’s hard to play solo and I wanted to challenge myself.”
One of the most beautiful pieces
This is outstanding, as is everything Keith does.
I love this song for long long years. And I love Keith Jarrett.

A little masterpiece, pure inspiration

Priceless performance. Thank you.
Correction: it is only Keith Jarrett playing Country with Marian McPartland listening by his side.
Thanks for posting!

Tough to offer a comment adequate for this lovely variation.

Великолепный вечер. Прекрасная музыка. Интересный музыкант с его уникальной способностью к импровизации. Спасибо.
The Rick Beato interview brought me here.
Even with the stroke, Keith is hanging in there.

It's a solo piano version

Whew, that’s oddly a relief. Nicely played.

I know the name of the song is "Country" but this song makes me think of walking down a dark sidestreet in lower Manhattan at 2am.
you should see a doctor 🤣🤣
Lower Manhattan at 2am is also a country

Keith Jarrett is an iconic genius I have been raving about since the 70's.
People listen to garbage, no offense, try some music.
Well, the listener has to actually engage with this.
This starts very Beatles. Nice.
He most certainly is, Darla

What he has been conscious of is polyphonic music. The method of counterpoint in conversation is the same as in human

Is this one of his songs? Who’s original composer?

Beautiful quartet version on the album "My Song."
