Ryes are my favorite. Especially a high proof, viscus textured, spice bomb. Tumbling Dice Rye is my joint at the moment. JD Single Barrel Barrel proof Rye is on its heels. Cheers yall.
Not all ryes are spice bombs. Check out some Old Potrero single barrels. I have a regular and a toasted and both are over 130 proof and since they are malted rye they come across as vanilla bean, cacao, and expresso. Hardly any spice except maybe a touch of nutmeg.
I truly once hated this... But after comparing with others I find Alberta premium Rye very very Underrated I go to a Canadian Liquor store and all I see is an Overwhelming selection of Crown royal whiskey selection... But I say Push that a side..and purchase a bottle of Alberta Premium Rye Whiskey...worth the 31$ CANADIAN DOLLARS ENJOY
The alberta premium cask strength has had 5 batches so far. Batch 1 (65.1%) and 3 (63.7%) have been my favourite (you had #3 today). Batch 2 (66%) was too hot and simple. Batch 4 (127 proof/63.5%) i wasn't a fan at all. And batch 5 (64.2%) I haven't had yet.
I love ryes but this one I have to work my way up to. It's a bruiser. I usually start the night with a more traditional Canadian rye with an ABV of 40%. Sometimes you appreciate the good stuff by starting with the not so good stuff. Favourite soft food is tiramisu. You're getting screws put in your jaw dammit you deserve some empty calories. Cheers eh
I bought one of these because a video i seen said it was great, and a lot of comments said it was great. I think its pretty nasty. Its not very complex, pretty hot, and taste like nail polish remover. Im shocked so many people like this this much. I gave it to my brother because he said he liked it when we first tried it. Then after i gave it to him and he tried it again, he didnt really like it either.

Hey Matt, I was wondering if you do collabs at all? 😊
This stuff is amazing. I always have it on hand. I have a list on my "icons" of categories. Not necessarily the best of the best but the best that are available at a fair price. I've got ECBP for bourbon, this for rye, RB12 cask strength for Irish, Laphroig cask strength for peated scotch and Aberlour A'Bunadh for non peated.
That's batch 3 you reviewed. I found Batch 4 much better and batch 5 even better than 4. I wouldn't replace my Batch 3 when it's gone but I already have backups of 4 and 5.
One of my favorite ryes. Doesn't drink crazy hot especially for a 130° , 100% rye - rye. Got my first one about 3 years ago at $80 Then a lightning strike - guy bought 10 cases on clearance and put them on sale for $29 so I bought 2 more. Probably should have bought 2 CASES more but hiding those would be a difficult endeavor. Great bottle if you like ryes
Small diced apples, chia, almond milk, oats, cinnamon, vanilla (and canned pumpkin if you wish). ‘Apple pumpkin pie oatmeal…it’s awesome). Nuke it for like 5min-ish or on half power for 10-15. So good. Or omit the pumpkin and top it was strawberries/blueberries or even some jelly of your choice once cooked. Cheers! Oh. And I love this rye. Apricot-lime all day.
Love the cask strength Alberta Premium Rye ! I have a few different strengths and all are fantastic. Being from Alberta I am evem more pleased with how darn good this is. EH!
I always bash Canadian whiskey, mostly out of fun and because, well, they’re bad. 😊 But Alberta Premium is one of the few noteworthy exceptions that prove the rule. AND I can get it in the US rather than hunting for unicorns in wild northland liquor stores on my trips to Canada to see Nell. Don’t tell Dudley…
I love a good intense spicy Rye!! 🙂High end single malt scotch is my go to but a fab Rye to sip on is outstanding. Hmmm. MGP? Not always a fan. But this one sounds good! Usually I go for 100% higher ABV (cask strength) Rye. Great video! Cheers! 🙂 Canadian here - we have some damn good Rye!
How about some Mac and Cheese? That Alberta Premium sounds like right in my wheelhouse. I have one coming. Thanks for the review and thank Bill Cavanaugh for the sample.
Alberta Premium Cask Strength is super crushable for a 125+ proof rye whiskey. Was playing some video the first night I had it and didn't realize I'd consumed a good 20% of the bottle until I got up... and nearly got down. Very good stuff. I've only gone back to the bottle a couple of times since but it's the only Canadian whiskey that has a permanent spot on my shelf.
flan is yummy! Also soups are a great option for variety and proteins. You just might have to blend down the ones with big chunks. Also, doesnt hurt to try baby food! Sounds strange as an adult, but the typical soft foods for adults can get pretty boring. Other options: mashed potatoes, jello, applesauce, oatmeal, and beans.
Excellent bottle. I’ll have to revisit mine. (If I can find it) I don’t recall the nose profiles but I definitely recall the pallet. For me and my bottle my best description for the pallet was damp dirt and fresh cut hay. And I mean all that in a good way. Mine is very very earthy. Gonna look for mine now ………
LOVE this stuff. I have 3 bottles of the 127.4 proof and another bottle at 132.0. Most I paid for any of them is $66. You can't beat that with a stick. Their distillate also goes into the Whistle Pig 10 yr old if you want to pay more for lower proof with an age statement.
This bottle made an appearance on an episode of Trailer Park Boys in the 7th season with one of the main characters chugging from it as the episode ended. It was relabeled as Jeddore Premium so there was no copyright issues.
One of my favorite ryes, I have 3. They sit on the shelf for $74 in VA, but often is the best whiskey in the store! The current open bottle is 134 proof, yum.
@@jasonkappel2630 I’m in Buffalo but I’ve picked it up at Empire Wine & Spirits in Albany for $29.99 in my travels. It still shows that on their website.
After I learned that the rules for Canadian whisky are so loose, I decided not to buy any Canadian whisky. The fact that you can add 9.09% of other things to the whisky.
Definitely an American whiskey...woops, lol. Matt you are the most enjoyable whiskey channel on YT. Thank you so much for what you do and I hope you get back to full health soon!
Enjoying the vids, but the split lighting is driving me nuts
Sooooo gooood.

@@apeekintime The senator store picks and Sagamore store picks (and the 8 year/port finish/sherry finish) are also fantastic non-spicy ryes.
Alberta cask is my go to for whiskey sours!! is super dangerous tho since it mixes so well with the lemon juice, can finish the drink in two sips.
Many options for your toothless recovery but yogurts and tofu come immediately to mind....good luck....you're gonna be beautiful??????

Gotta go with puddings and milkshakes :)

It’s so good! Fortunately it’s a shelfer here in Texas. (Hopefully I didn’t jinx it)
Give flavored yogurt a try.
Cottage cheese and soft fruit?

These were on close out at several store around me. Picked up 3 for $30-40 a piece. I liked batch 2 a little more, but this one is still great.
If you live in Chicago land, currently on sale for $30 at Binnys, and they have a ton of them.
Found it at Total wine & spirits on special for a little north of 50 bucks here in Fort lauderdale. Very delicious, put some hair on your chest!
I found one of these today at my local Binny's for $30. What a steal.

Hey Matt, I was wondering if you do collabs at all? 😊
I've heard of 'Berta beef. Now I have to find 'Berta booze! And does meatloaf count as a soft food?
Malt o meal or cream of wheat for me. Im getting 4 wisdom teeth out on the 12th myself so ill be back trolling these comments for suggestions as well😅

For soft foods try mochi. It’s not really nutritious.. but it is good.
$60, give or take, at Total Wine in Indianapolis. I'm a big fan of this bottle, especially at that price point. Cheers!
Burrito and old ezra 7 full proof rye
Aw yeah… got that Citrussy.
Love Alberta Premium
It's a hell yeah, got lucky last week, got a bottle for $47 on discount.cheers
I just saw it on discount too. Going to grab a bottle for sure!
@@chrishauser5505 discount?
Bourbon is a soft food
1:31 Hahaha!
Woo hoo

I love rye, and this is a favorite. The price is fair for the quality that it delivers, and it is usually available.
Yogurt and oatmeal are good templates. Seasonings will be your friend. Maple up that oatmeal. Throw that tajin in your yogurt.
You might look into "fairlife" nutrition drinks. 30g protein, 150 calories. Get the chocolate. Costco here has the best deal on them.

It is a good rye, but unfortunately it’s about $85 in Oregon. Hard to beat Jack Daniel’s Barrel Proof rye for the money. Great review as always!
Excellent rye! Very tasty and great value! Soft food - scalloped potatoes!

I’ve got 2 of these. I’m happy these are widely available in my area. Regarding a soft food scrambled egg made Gordon Ramsey style.

It’s at the top of the list when it comes to rye…just get a can of Hormel Tamales or Spaghetti-O’s

Not a Canadian whiskey guy but I have seen many reviews on this and all have been positive. I’ll give this this a try.
Bowling neon is awesome..... not over the line ......mark it 10 dude!
Yes indeed that is a delicious rye from your neighbors in the great white north. Twinkies are considered soft food IMO 🤣

Rice pudding delicious or just good ol jello pudding 😊
Totally agree it’s a great rye! Ridiculously low priced in upstate NY for some reason. $30. Multiple backups at that price.
We just picked one up for $44 ish. Incredible price for a great Rye

Liteness mixed with darkness...just like my soul.
One of the very rare time that it is a bottle available where I live! 86$CAD and it is the .4 version so I'll have to get it asap.
I still have a batch 2 in the bunker. Unfortunately, it seems to have dried up here in PA.
Thanks i know where one is and i will get it!
I got a bottle of this sitting on my shelf. I’m glad you like it. Can’t wait to open it now
Ravioli is pretty soft.
Another great video
