to me, Mob Psycho 100 is a real standout in portraying two core themes: the push and pull of trust vs. skepticism, and the relationship between people and the larger collective groups they're a part of... so like, society vs. the individual.
in terms of trust vs. skepticism, we sort of see each one represented in Mob and Reigen, respectively. Mob is sometimes overly trusting, to the point of being potentially really gullible. he takes a lot of things at face value, like when Onigawara put that fake note in his locker. Mob is trying to connect with others as best he can, but in his attempts to do so, he tends to see other people as knowing how to be normal better than he does. and when he tries to follow along, he's often taking shots in the dark.
meanwhile, Reigen functions really interestingly as a skeptic. see... Reigen knows that his whole clientele is made up of people gullible enough to believe that he is a psychic. he relies on that. but he also doesn't actually scam anyone all that much. a good portion of the time, the people who go to Reigen don't even have a problem with ghosts. they have some other problem that has a more practical solution. but they're gullible, so they _think_ it's ghosts, and they're completely set on believing it. if Reigen wasn't there, these people would either go to another fake psychic who might actually scam them, or they'd go to a real psychic who would probably refuse to help them because their problem isn't a real ghost, and isn't worth a real professional's time. so Reigen, whether he knows it or not, is filling a really niche need... he "exorcizes the ghost" by mostly just doing odd jobs. he's the guy that's willing to keep up the act. but from the way he experiences this, it almost seems like he knows better, so that these people don't have to.
literally, some of these people never learn any better. and to some extent, Reigen relies on these people never learning any better, in order to keep his business going. it actually makes Mob really special, because Reigen sees how gullible and trusting Mob can be sometimes, and he does feel like he can actually teach Mob something useful about the way the world works. but Reigen's perspective is actually a bit skewed by the fact that he "always knows better" by always being suspicious of other people's intentions. and while season 1 shows us all the ways that Mob has a lot of growing to do... season 2 is where we start to understand how Reigen's skepticism has isolated him.
when Reigen tells Mob that his current friends probably don't genuinely like him, he is making an ass of himself, for sure. but he's also projecting. because Reigen really doesn't have friends, and most of his social connections are to people who only cling to him as the solution to all of _their_ problems. they never ask Reigen about himself, they never want to know what he likes or what he's doing... Reigen puts in a lot of effort, for mediocre pay, and he gets back... what? this kind of arrangement can warp a person's perspective, and it's the flaw with always coming at a situation with suspicion. and of course, the remedy to this is trust.
Mob may have trouble knowing when people are trying to take advantage of him or mess with him... he still has plenty to learn, and Reigen has taught him a lot of valuable things. but there are also times when Mob trusts people, before they've even given him a reason, and it pays off. and sometimes it only pays off in the long term... Teru tried to strangle Mob, but in response, Mob kept trying to take a kind approach with him. and eventually Teru had to admit that he was in the wrong, and that Mob never once wanted to hurt him. on a long enough timeframe, Mob's approach reveals the truth... most people who lash out against others are just scared of being hurt. they're acting defensively, and you can actually get through to them sometimes, if you show them they have nothing to fear. Reigen feels like he has to stay 10 steps ahead of everyone because he knows how screwed he'll be in the end if he doesn't... and his profession resists the concept of honesty. but Mob's approach has always been what Reigen needed. if Mob hadn't trusted Reigen when they first met, would they have even become friends? by making the decision to trust Reigen, Mob proved his own method right from the beginning. because Reigen has always been a genuinely good guy.
but then pulling the focus out a bit, we have the broader struggle of society vs. the individual. in Mob's case, he is an incredibly powerful individual. and he learns early on in his childhood, that he could really hurt someone if he loses control of himself. however, when an individual has that kind of power, then taking control of other people also becomes an option. and a lot of the characters who have power in this story are enticed by this option. the reasons are fairly simple... having control over others means that you don't have to worry about a lot of the things people generally are afraid of others doing to them. and you can also subvert a lot of society's more inconvenient or unpleasant systems. Mob wouldn't have to be good at math class if he became a subjugator of the masses. but if your problem is that you're lonely, and you don't want to feel that way anymore, then this kind of power doesn't solve the real issue.
we see what this really means in the conflict between Mob and Ritsu. initially, when Ritsu asks Mob why he doesn't use his powers more often, and gain popularity that way... Mob describes the sorts of things he can't get just by using his powers, and he says he wants to develop those things. to Ritsu, those things seem trivial... he knows that a lot of them wouldn't matter if Mob would just use his powers to aim a little bigger, and shrug off the systems that require all that stuff. that's what Ritsu would do if he had power like that. but because Ritsu thinks that way, he also distrusts Mob. he fears him... he remembers the times where Mob's powers went out of control, and understands that there's a total power imbalance between the two of them. even just the existence of that power imbalance makes Ritsu distrustful... and this is why Mob has to keep control of himself. if Mob ever gave Ritsu a reason to believe he was the kind of person that would make good on that perceived threat, then he'd probably never have a good relationship with his brother again. that's what he stands to lose.
and on a larger scale, that's what the members of Claw don't understand. when they use their powers to subjugate people, they're losing the very thing that a lot of people live for. if you use your powers to control others, you'll never have a real friend again. but then on a smaller scale, when it comes to social interactions between people, and the concept of popularity... how do you balance that? of course, you never want to compromise your identity as an individual... but to some degree, you do want to appease others a little. if you care for someone, you'll probably have to make small sacrifices for their wellbeing at some point. even just tiny things, like letting them finish their sentence before you speak, because you want to hear what they have to say. or giving them part of your lunch if they forgot theirs, because you don't want them to be hungry. selflessness is part of how people show each other that they don't mean any harm, and in fact, they care enough to help. but there has to be a balance... it has to be willingly given, received with appreciation, and occasionally reciprocated. if you can't count on that, you may run out of that good will someday. and there's a difference between making sure you're treating others well, and trying to change yourself just so other people will like you. but the difference can be subtle, and difficult to navigate, and that's where Mob comes in.
Mob is quiet. he "doesn't know how to read a room" sometimes. he has traits that are very genuine for him, but that also might prevent people from finding him appealing. and what is he supposed to do about that? this feels natural for him, but if people hate him because of something he's doing... should he try to change? can he do so and still be happy? these are the conundrums he's personally interested in finding answers for... questions of how you maintain your genuine self while still trying to appeal to others. and when it comes to the larger subject of his own psychic powers, he's trying to find similar answers... we're asked to consider what individuals should do for the communities and social groups they live in, and what these groups should do for the individual people who contribute to them. and characters like Ritsu, Dimple, and Teru are technically right... none of this would have to matter or be so complicated, if Mob used his massive power to dominate everything. but it would also erase a lot of the benefits of living cooperatively with other people. and sometimes, you do need to improve yourself, even if it's difficult. that truth is something you'd never arrive at if nobody was in a position to critique you, or really even care about you one way or another.

One of the best things about mob is that unlike most plot driven shonen mob is character driven. There are main villains and threats but they usually take backseat to the characters lives and personal issues and one arc is usually pretty short. They don't rush it but instead cut all the filler and get to the importent part. Like s2 claw arc could be a 12 episode arc with annoying mini villains and teasing people about the boss for 10 episodes but it had great buildup and climax in only 4 episodes. It allows the show to tackle multiple themes in such a short time.

I actually can identify with Mogami since Mob is a really lucky kid without realizing how cruel this world could be. In my opinion, the encounter of Mogami is really crucial cuz he taught Mob that sometimes you just have to curb your kindness.

Mob Psycho is almost and anime "genre" on its own, i've watched so many animes (more than i would like to admit), but nothing like Mob Psycho, it's hard to compare it with other works. Definetely one of my favorite animes, and this is coming from someone who absolutely loves just "fights go brrrr" animes

this is what I liked about mob psycho, the character grew out to be lovable by episode, the fact that not alone the artstyle changed from goofy ah with big ass butt chins to actually really cool looking characters, like how Serizawa looked goofy with the giant ass wig but later then got fixed (still his legs crossing is still goofy) but he went from an asshole who thinks he's the top into someone reliably smart and strong

Mob Psycho 100 is the first anime that made me feel like I could trust it. It allows for a lot of emotion, even negative ones, actually especially negative ones, but then it heals you through the story and you always grow from it. Never have I just felt sad and like I had been hurt without anything to cheer me up again with this show. It’s amazing I recommend it 100/10
