    I was born and raised in Dallas and have always been a diehard Cowboys fan, but still to this day, can’t stand Jerry Jones. Not only for how he ran the great Coach Landry and Tex Schramm out like a couple of juvenile trespassers, but also for the way he treated Coach Johnson after building a winning team resulting in three Super Bowl victories.
    Jimmy is a great, humble, family man who truly brings out the best in people. Thank you for all those great years Coach!

    Smart man, Jimmy. And a great coach.
    The Vikings thought there were pulling a fast one on Jimmy when Johnson traded Herschel Walker to the Minnesota in 1989 for draft picks. The rest is history.

    The question I have and no one has seriously addressed...Why did it take this long for Jimmy Johnson to get into the NFL Hall Of Fame. Reporter said it perfectly...."Can't tell the history of the NFL without mentioning Coach Jimmy Johnson". From drafting players, trading players, motivating players, coaching players and training assistants...literally changed the game on so many different levels; why did it take him that long NFL?

    Jimmy was such an inspiration. He used to drive to work the same way each day because he said he conditioned him to succeed, so I actually started doing it. While I didn't succeed on his level, it did oddly give me a measure of confidence. He was a master psychologist and that may be his secret to his success. And I was not a Jimmy guy. I loathed him in Miami, and didn't think he was fit to fill the shoes of the great Tom Landry. But I have to say, he did. And had he stayed on, I think they easily had another two or three trophies in them.

    • @Ed9870
      @Ed9870 7 місяців тому

      @Chillbillvol2 Take it easy. Landry invented the 4-3 defense.

    • @Ed9870
      @Ed9870 7 місяців тому

      @Chillbillvol2 Landry 20 straight winning seasons, 15 straight playoff appearances (unprecedented at the time in all sports) His longevity only surpassed by Curly Lambeau and George Halas. Landry cast a large shadow over the profession. Jimmy was great, but one was a sprinter and the other was a marathon runner. Cowboy fans were blessed to have both for the first 34 seasons of the franchise, 29 of which belonged to the man in the hat.

    • @Ed9870
      @Ed9870 7 місяців тому

      @Chillbillvol2 But you missed the main point. One lasted 29 seasons, the other lasted five. If you took Landry's first five years, there wasn't greatness. It came over a long influential tenure. Jimmy's first (and only) five were great. It wouldn't have lasted over 29 seasons with roster turnover.

    • @Ed9870
      @Ed9870 7 місяців тому

      @Chillbillvol2 Jimmy wasn't bad, I liked him and hated to see him leave. But he couldn't have touched Landry's record over 29 seasons. Nobody did. There's no shame in that. Jimmy would agree.

  • @carson7wayne

    Jimmy seems to be talking from the heart, and I believe he's telling the truth. He didn't get treated right for all his sacrifice and hard work. His family suffered because he threw heart and soul into the Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones didn't see it at that time.

    As a long time Cowboys fan from way back to 1975, I was blessed to witness such great Cowboys as Tom Landry, Roger Staubach, Drew and Preston Pearson, Washington, Renfro, Waters and Harris, Billy Joe Dupree, Too Tall Jones, Larry Cole, Jethro Pugh, Harvey Martin, D.D. Lewis, Lee Roy Jordan Robert Newhouse, Tony Dorsett, Hollywood Henderson and Randy 'The Manster' White, and of course the super talented 90's team that was put together mostly by the genius of Jimmy Johnson.
    Staubach will always be my #1 favorite Cowboy of all-time with Randy White a close second, but Jimmy is right up there with those two guys in my books.
    There were two huge Cowboy's losses over the years that I never really got over to this day (the loss to the 49ers on Jan. 10, 1982 for the NFC Championship, and the loss of Jimmy Johnson).
    Even though Barry Switzer was able to coach Dallas to another SB win in 1995, everyone knew it was still Jimmy's team, and I've often stated that the Cowboys' will never win another SB until Jerry Jones either sells the team or is pushing up daisies....neither has happened yet, so the 'Curse of Jerry Jones' lives on to this day.

    Johnson was a great coach, and for his part, Jones was probably a great businessman, but Jones should have also had the humility to stay in his lane and not interfere with Johnson, who always stayed in his lane as a coach.
    Jones is a guy who has always seemed like he is "high on his own supply", to the point where he might as well just name himself president, general manager, head coach, and starting quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys.
    You would never see Mark Cuban interfere with his Dallas Mavericks' GM or head coach in the way Jones has historically involved himself with the Cowboys.

      Jerry Jones' ego is so big that during the NFL Draft he'd want to be on camera pretending to be talking on the phone to make it look like he's relevant by making some deal.

    As mad as I was when Tom Landry got fired, I thought Jimmy was a great coach. If that idiot Jerry Jones would of just let Jimmy coach the team and stay out of his way he could of been there as long as Tom Landry. The Cowboys would have won 4 in a row. I will make this statement: The Cowboys will never make it back to the super bowl as long as Jerry Jones own the football team.
