I so appreciate your making this video and talking about the history of what happened to Hiroshima in WW2. My mother is Japanese and was born and raised in Hiroshima. She survived the bomb only because she lived six miles away from her school, woke up that morning with an uneasy feeling that something was wrong and refused to go to school that day. All her cousins and friends who did go to school perished that day. My mother suffered from exposure to radiation and her hair fell out, but eventually grew back. Each family had to send a volunteer to go to where they treated burn victims. It was like a huge gymnasium, all the patients were on the floor, no beds. They helped with changing bandages, etc. My mother was 13 years old and was the volunteer from her family. I recall her telling me how horrific it was to witness all the pain and suffering and worse, which I won't talk about here. My father was in the military and was stationed on Okinawa. We lived there for 2 1/2 years, and during that time my mother took my brother and I over to Hiroshima to meet our grandparents, aunt, uncle and cousins. She also took us to the dome building museum, the peace memorial and other sights to teach us the history of what happened to Hiroshima and its people. I could go on and on. You brought back so many memories for me. In your video I can see how the city has grown since I was there in 1968. I would love to see it now and revisit the places my mother took us to. Thank you, Emma❣
I love watching all of the great times you had on your trip. And I really appreciate that you took time to share a little of what you learned about the history. Especially that of what happened in WW2 it's so important that we not forget what happened in the past. And to learn about the city and the people that live there today!
I’ve always wanted to try the different types of okonomiyaki of Japan. I want an okonomiyaki tour please! :D That kimono was so beautiful too. Perfect colors for you!
how amazing! Hiroshima is one of my favourite areas in Japan as well! I did the really touristy course most people do and I thought I really saw everything of that area but your video makes me wanna go there again and have another experience !!!
It's amazing how much you manage to get out from visiting these places. I guess you're a pro traveller now! when I'm in a new town or city I never know how to get the best use of my short time there and if there's anything I can do that isn't really touristy.
KENJI YOURE A MADMAN Omg the Miyajima hike is sO ROUGH. but tysm for that skyline view of Hiroshima! I never got to see the whole thing in one picture!
I loved this video so much, the editing was spot on, and you looked like you had a blast which makes the viewing experience that much better! Can't wait for your next video whatever you choose to do.
Love the wabi-sabi paths at Mitaki. It's a nice place and also has some symbolic connection to Auschwitz due to the atrocities of that and Hiroshima too. Nice to see some alternative Hiroshima activities as, after a dozen plus trips there (my in-laws live there), I am always on the look out for new things to do. Nice video.
That is my favorite video from you!! Not only because of the amazing and different things you got to do, but also because you look so chilled and happy 😊🇧🇷
Miyajima’s the most beautiful place I’ve been in Japan (and probably anywhere in the world!). Can’t believe you were allowed to go through the gate in a boat! Must have been a strange experience when you know you can walk there when the tide’s out!
Aaaah ! I love this ! This made me miss Hiroshima so much! I was there this summer and it was the place I had the least expectations for but I left Japan thinking Hiroshima was hands down, my favourite place out of the bunch that I visited. The highlight from the trip was definitely the huge street festival we accidentally bumped into. It was late at night and the streets were filled with food and colors and light and people of all ages dancing ! I can't put it into words, it was incredible. Also if you(whoever might be reading this) go there I highly recommend taking a day off from the city to explore the smaller towns nearby, one of the best things about japan is being able to hop on a train to no where and I had some of my best experiences doing that!!
OMG!!! The kimono you're wearing is SO beautiful!!! The colors are so vibrant and so vivid! I'm so in love with it! I don't know what more to say... words are failing me right now!... WOW!... I thought I've seen it all... I'm in love all over again... I'm so glad I chose to view this episode... I'm impressed and am looking forward to when I can make it to Japan. I hope to make it in 2019 or 2020.
Haven't watched one of your videos in a while sorry. I've been sick. Such a pleasure to see one again though. Your respect and appreciation for others and there culture is heartwarming. The Japanese people and their culture has always been something I have felt drawn to. I will try and watch again. May happiness be yours.
I was never very interested in visiting Japan, but you made me love it and now I have it in my bucket list. This was the most amazing video of traveling that I have seen. Thank you so much! What an awesome experience. I will definitely check all your videos when I want to travel to Japan. Thanks!
Thank you for this video. I lived in Hiroshima for 4 months and studied at Hiroshima Shudo University, and it was easily the best time of my life. It’s truly a gorgeous and vibrant city with people who made me feel at home. Mitaki Dera was a spiritual experience for me. I actually climbed the mountain by myself once and when i found an overlook, I knew I was in the right place at the right time. I truly hope more students try to study in places like Hiroshima instead of Tokyo. It’s surreal seeing if from someone else’s perspective! Now i’m homesick for my second home :)
Japan has never been on my list of places to travel to but OMG it is so beautiful! I love getting to see the different places and experiences with you. I definitely have to add it to my list of places I want to see.
Omg that kimono is stunning, it compliments you so well! This is really reinforcing my goals... studying japanese is so hard... but one day I'll find myself in Japan, and I hope when I am there, it will bring clarity
Thanks for covering some of the not obvious destinations of the Hiroshima area! As a traveler who isn’t able to read Kanji - I tend to depend more on vloggers in Japan for ideas on less touristy places to go when I can actually get over there.
I had a little bit of a drink before watching this video and watching your pet wave goodbye while i was a little bit tipsy made me laugh for like 4 minutes straight for some reason
Hiroshima is my most favourite place I have visited. I especially loved Mitaki Dera and Shukkeien (great to go to if you love koi). Such a wonderful city - hope to go back one day!
TOKIDOKI japanese poet! Kinda thought my mobile was playing tricks cuz similar video on tokyo creative. My fav was the calligraphy part. Also what are you thoughts on "journey across japan "
I wonder what Nagasaki has to offer... I hope you make a video about that experience. Your video editing skills have come such a long way!!! Sugoi! I remember when I joined you were barely at 200 subscribers. You've come a very long way from that tiny little apartment & only had a handful of video's in your channel. Thanks for sharing such a great part of your life. Some things will never be forgotten :) Ja Ne!
i think that once you appreciate Hiroshima for what it is today and what it has to offer, you can get past the tragic history. Hiroshima has some of the best natural spots in all of Japan, its distinctive culture spreads to the food, the shrines, the people...I did study about the war as most of us did but as i learned more and more about the prefecture i was able to open my eyes on the beautiful Hiroshima.
I love watching your videos. I am from Virginia in the US and I am still quite young. I don't foresee myself being able to explore Japan at all anytime in the future. However, these videos make me happy. Also, your transition filming is great!
OMG! The view from the mountain.. I made wallpapers jpgs of them! I'm so jelly right now. I hope to one day soon make a trip to Japan, and tick some items off my bucket list.. Be happy and know that you are experiencing things that others are watching and are envious of!
this is a part of japan i did like soo much when i visit japan for a month in 2013 thanks for youre instructive video.and the okonomiyakiya next to yought hoteru hiroshima was oiishii i must try oister park for my next trip in the futur
10:06 The two girls reaction in the background had me laughing. Two opposites. One look annoyed, the other waving and trying to get your attention. (did she?) XD Looks like you had a lot of fun, very cool.
Hi Emma Loving your content, it has made me start planning my Japanese adventure. Hiroshima looked amazing is one of the places I want to visit. Thinking of a 3 week stay travelling across Japan, what are your must see places other than Hiroshima and Tokyo? Thanks Joe&Justin x
chris from abroad in japan needs that bike of yours ... very cool video emma! i have kind of a stupid question: the deer in the streets... i guess there are no hunters/ in general hunting allowed in japan?! its just so ... so ... surreal, those deer in the streets, its beautiful
Hey Emma, quick question since you mentioned you guys stayed at hotel. One thing I've constantly wondered/worried about is luggage on shinkansen and local transport; how do I bring them? I know shinkan is a little easier, but other channels covered of the "Important/enjoy your time here tips" But not much nuanced like luggage movement. This is mainly important for when I'm moving to my next city, but something that I want to prepare for so I'm not a bother.

I miss living in Japan SO much. I really wish I had experienced more. I did go to Miyajima though! Beautiful place. Deer EVERYWHERE!
Nicole Safady wait what did I miss? Where do you live now?
Your filming and editing just keeps improving! Some great B roll today:)
Yup. I was gonna say the same. Excellent editing.
I’ve always wanted to try the different types of okonomiyaki of Japan. I want an okonomiyaki tour please! :D That kimono was so beautiful too. Perfect colors for you!

So cool. I am truly learning so much from your travels. Thanks for making these kind of videos.
Japan has never been on my list of places to travel to but OMG it is so beautiful! I love getting to see the different places and experiences with you. I definitely have to add it to my list of places I want to see.
More like this!! The filmography, on point, as usual!
That kimono looks so flattering on you! Lovely colours.
That was awesome! Thank you for sharing this trip with us
I've never actually seen any photos or footage of Hiroshima outside of learning about WWII. It's gorgeous!!!
Omg that kimono is stunning, it compliments you so well! This is really reinforcing my goals... studying japanese is so hard... but one day I'll find myself in Japan, and I hope when I am there, it will bring clarity
This has to be one of your best videos yet! The editing and content is amazing Em ♡

Yay! How did you know I needed a fun video to distract me this morning? I'm not a fan of oysters but cooking seafood fresh on the coast? Lovely.
I just want to have a seaside bbq 😭 I love cooking by the ocean!
@@TokidokiTraveller it's funny how food can taste better when you're in the right setting. So satisfying. 😊
