Thank you so much. I looked up the new, well they weren’t new they were just rebuilt, clusters and they’re between $200 and $400. Thank you for the step-by-step. Your other video was great. Great video just cranked my truck and no gauges. First time having this problem but I can see how it can happen with the vibration. I'll take mine apart and try fixing like you said nothing to loose it don't work.
The cracked solders are very common on newer vehicles. I've fixed several clusters on different vehicles.
Instead of taking the gauge cluster to the mechanic, take it to a computer repair shop. Most of them are capable of doing the soldering and have the tools to do it.
So I had three options. Buy a “rebuilt” cluster for $250. Send mine off for repair $99.00. Or spend 30 minutes remembering how to solder. With the help of this video I just saved a lot of money. Thank you.
You could of used those LED's. Just not the plastic, Bend the wires from the LED's and solder them to the plates on the motherboard and they'd have worked for you. You just can't re-use the grey plastic covers is all.
