Great video! I still have two questions 1) for a weaker wheel like driving force gt I usually set the FBB to 100% to feel the feedback properly. Does 100% FBB hamper your ability to catch a slide 2) Also how to avoid power oversteer in cars like FC or Devil Z where you hit the redline and your rear tires loose grip, do you upshift early? Thanks so much
Thanks! FFB at 100% wont increase your ability to catch a slide because the wheel can only go so fast. Rotation speed is going to be limited by your wheel rather than your settings so lower ffb should be no problem. As far as ffb goes feel free to use whatever you like. Unless you go really really low you wont limit the speed the wheel rotates at. The DFGT is a fairly slow wheel so you might have to give it practice to catch it better. Now for the second question you have a few ways to do it 1. short shift knowing you will lose grip out of slow corners 2. just stay on the throttle and ride out the slide until your rear gains grip (slow) 3. Feather the throttle as you feel the rear slipping (might be faster than short shifting)
This is very helpful, loved this video! I found my solution to managing this type of problem when drifting. I found myself doing very bad and having this uncomfortable feeling when I either lead or chase. After watching this video, this made me realize what I have been doing wrong, keep it up man!
Very helpful video, i would recommend using a rear engine car to master the technique, the ferrari 458 and porsche 911 gt3 rs are difficult cars to drive and great to learn.
Thank you. Almost each and every slide correction of mine ends up with snap oversteer, it's frustrating. Eventually I gave up on correcting and just centered the wheel and I land on the breaks, sure you lose all the speed but at least I'm still on the track. I'll try to practice with your advice in mind.
Braking when it starts to slip is a sure way to end up in a wall as well. Not only is it faster but a lot safer to just give it a small correction right the moment you notice the rear stepping out and keep going. Video examples were exaggerated by a ton on purpose.

@@kattieboi I don't know, I manage to stay on the track somehow, I counter steer and let go of the gas and stomp the brake. I got frustrated with snap oversteer I started thinking that my FF setting was somehow wrong... Also I started blaming Assetto Corsa with it's low speed slides that never seemed realistic to me...
Um a challenging video as you mimicking snap oversteer while drifting- drifting is power-on oversteer. l'm looking for remedy or fix for power-off snap oversteer just after lift of throttle and huge snap of oversteer, not a chance to brake. The only remedy so far is to leave it in fourth maybe third and try to stay on power slightly while this very slow through the turn because l haven't slowed down enough causing me to miss apex 30mar2023dellthecomputer
I would defo recommend the samsung odyssey plus that I have but it really depends on your budget and where you live since at least here in the EU some VR headsets are hard to come across. At like medium budget 300-500 euros I'd be looking at two headsets Oculus Rift S Samsung Odyssey+ The Odyssey+ is way better for simming as it comes with higher refresh rate, resolution and an amoled screen over the Rift S. The only thing the Rift S has over the Odyssey+ is the controller tracking so if you are looking to play more roomscale i'd consider that an option. An odyssey+ is hard to come across in europe though. I got mine in spain when I was visiting earlier this year
Nope. You may be talking of lift off oversteer which barely exists in assetto which would imply your tires are gripping already as you lift off the throttle when entering a corner. When you are already in a slide and your wheels are spinning, letting off the throttle reduces the torque transferred to the rear wheels which in turn slows your wheels down making them grip up as the rotational speed of the wheels slow down eventually resulting in fully regaining grip again.
FOV setting does not change anything for VR. For monitor(s) I recommend running the correct calculated FOV for your setup which you can find out using one of the calculators that exist online.

thanks, sir. really helpful
It would be great if you had your inputs(like accelerator, brake, steering) visible in your HUD.
many thanks. i always lifted the throttle when getting into a slide and it caused me to get off the track
Glad I could help!
Thank you.

this was helpful, although it would help even more if the pedals app was active so we could see how the feet were woriking :D
I'd do this video a lot differently if I was making it now. Glad you found it helpful!

When you lift off, you lose grip in the rear, not gain.

I got a question how do you stop your car from sliding when ypu are taking off
Just modulate your throttle input. In a high power car the tires wont have enough grip if you go full throttle in a low gear.
yo what car is that?

hey what track are you driving on?
