Story number 5 made me wanna say this but this goes for everyone, we as EMTs and Paramedics do NOT care if your naked, soiled yourself and or are in any kind of “gross” condition we are there to help you and your loved ones don’t worry about it we’ve seen it all and have had all of the bodily fluids on us, we’re hear for you in any condition or state also never feel bad for calling and ambulance for a “dumb” reason we’d rather spend some time making sure your okay then doing CPR on you
The last story tore me apart. Absolutely devastating way to lose your father and then to have to be reminded every year on a day that’s supposed to be joyful. My heart goes out to the family.
People suck, truly. Bored people - get a hobby - a constructive one, or at least one that won't hurt people. So sick of people hurting others for no reason. I wish those kids had been reported, caught and taught a tough lesson, but all too often, people like that don't get punished at all, while their victims suffer not only physical damage but psychological pain for years.
That last story broke my heart, been a while since one has made me tear up like that. Just imagining that little boy chasing his unconscious father down the river, the helplessness. It’s so awful
Thank you so much for the turkey gobble! Thru the tears of the last two stories, I really needed that giggle. Hope you and all your listeners have the very best of Thanksgivings this year!!
Agreed, it was a good cheer up from the last haunting one - lol and amongst his most wisest anecdotes he had us remember! Same to you and Joel, Happy Holidays and stay safe to all!
As someone(at 29) who had a sudden streptococcus infection in my left cervical nodes that turned into Sepsis.. which led to being rushed to ER then immediate surgery and signing a will for my babies.. yeah, DONT WAIT TO GO TO ER! The surgeon told me from the time you spike a fever with Sepsis(blood poison), most people have 12 hours of life left. They have to get biotics in. I had "a cocktail of antibiotics" and spiked a fever while I was on the gurney outside the OR waiting to go in for a dangerous surgery. I am still bad at seeking immediate medical help, but because of what happened, I force myself. Especially when there is a fever or ANY infection. The smallest infection can cause Sepsis. Take care of yourself and force sick loved ones to get checked. Side note, my good friend(26) died in the 10 minutes we left, and went to grab us all coffee. No warning. Massive heart attack. You just never know!❤
These stories got me to realise I need to push my loved ones to go to the doctors. Rest in peace to anyone that lost a loved one in this episode, it is truly traumatic to what happened to these peoples loved ones and so sudden and quick as well I can only imagine the pain they went through. I hope everyone had the help they need to get over the grief and trauma, my thought are with everyone ❤️❤️❤️
Turkey sounds were just a delight! And after that last, heartbreaking, story, I needed a good giggle. My last Thanksgiving with my late husband was very hard. This year, I've made pies and other homemade goodies for the first time in a few years. Hoping all of you have a memorable and peaceful holiday.
I’m up at 6AM , listening to these stories, am I crazy or just love listening, Maybe a little of both, whatever all the people reading this Happy Thanksgiving. And god bless America!
Thank you! Just in time! I'm cooking for 40+ people expected tomorrow, so I've been cooking since this morning and I'll be up all night cooking and setting up, so now I have something good to listen to!! ❤
how the hell is that expected of someone to do in a day and a half?! 😅 even 10 or less is chaos and demanding to have to cook for. I cant even imagine your stress level, even if you love to cook! Goodluck ❤
@@felicityjohnston9276 thanks! I do it every year since my mom has gotten older. I start 2 weeks before and make things that I can freeze like baked ziti, we're Italian so we always have pasta too, sweet potato casserole, stuffing, hot dips, etc and I freeze the things I can. I've been up since yesterday morning and have been up all night and will have everything ready for 2pm appetizers and 5pm dinner. I set up a buffet and it works out. I just get so stressed leading up to it, thinking things won't be done, but they always work out well. Story 5 absolutely has my compassion. My sister died at 29 from undiagnosed breast cancer (went to the gym, healthy, etc). Diagnosis to death was only a couple of sedated days in the hospital. I absolutely agree about not worrying over the bills (tho cost didn't have anything to do with my sister's missed diagnosis).. While debt sucks, you can't go to jail for unpaid bills but you definitely can die. I do want to clear a little something up, I think some may not understand. OPs BIL didn't pass away from being sick for 11 hrs. He had the infections for quite a while, long enough to become septic. If not treated with strong antibiotics the septicemia will kill you. It's possible the septicemia enlarged the heart as well. I'm not sure why he only became feverish before passing, he may have been prior but the story doesn't say, but I don't want to guess. I just don't want folks to get overly paranoid in regards to the timeline..but please take infections seriously..I actually know of a young lady who passed away from a sinus infection that went septic. Her stepdad puts on a huge Christmas lights display every year in my city. So yea, pay attention to your body.
@DoorsToHideBehind156 that's not an answer as to how. 😅 HOW would a simple nose issue turn into a blood issue when they aren't really related?....it doesn't make sense.
My sister passed away in June. It ended up being a liver condition she had no idea about. She got pneumonia then she was gone. She was alone. When i went through her phone i found that she’d looked up her symptoms and the hospital. Everyday i wish she just went to the hospital.
These stories are truly horrific and I thank the people for sharing. We must if we can appreciate what we have and those we love. Because you never know what will happen in just the flash of an eye.
The story with the OP that witnessed his uncle beating his girlfriend saved the girlfriend. If he hadn't opened the door she could be dead. The last stories though were just so sad, especially the last one. I don't know why but it kind of got to me even though both of my parents are still very much alive.
Story 5 is exactly what happened to my mother's boss. He had an ear ache. He was gone by the end of the weekend. It was meningitis. He was a good man. A stubborn blowhard but a good man.
I am so sorry to those who lost their loved ones in such a manner. I've lost seven people I care for recently and it is debating, especially when lost in such a way. Sending hugs
the last two stories i swear i could've burst into tears those poor people. i was really hoping they would be by some miracle alive. i hope despite this people are living happy lives knowing that those who passed would want them to
I cried at the last two. Story 5 hit me hard as i have a chest and lung infection and a few other medical problems. Needless to say im phoning the doctor first thing tomorrow
story 5 had me crying on the way home from work today. i just can’t imagine having to go through that, let alone on the holidays. my heart goes out to anyone who’s lost a loved one during this time of the year 🖤
The last story; I truly hope the the person who posted was helped by writing and sharing. I hope you and your family find the peace your Dad would want you to have. Sending you love wherever you are❤
Story 5 had me kinda pissed. This lady waits till her sister arrives to tell her that her husband is breathing erratically before phoning 911. This person has taken cpr classes and she only thinks to phone the EMS after her sister gets back, he stops breathing, and they mess around with him and try to splash water in his face? I find it sad when people judge someone who commits suicide as selfish without knowing their situation. Sometimes the pain is just too much, and they feel like there is no other option or solution, sometimes it is selfish like avoiding repercussions for crimes and they know their reputation is ruined. However, it I feel for anyone who witnesses a life being taken, but the fact that they are in a position where they feel like taking their own life is the only way to escape pain, it’s really sad. some sad stories. Ive never really liked Thanksgiving myself, but I do believe in gratitude and cherishing the ones you love; you never know how long you have together ❤
I remember one Thanksgiving when my grandfather was still alive. He had been declining over the years and was somewhat confused. My dad happened to not be present during this meal. My grandfather started choking. His wife was completely dismissive, saying that this happens all the time. I could tell he was not getting any air. It was really scary, but I made the executive decision to get up and perform the heimlich. When I got up and started performing this action, I told my wife to call 911. I was able to dislodge the piece of food. We all sat in silence for a moment afterwards and then nervously laughed. All of my family expressed how shocking it was to see an emergency happen and how disappointed they were in themselves that they didn't take action or felt paralyzed. My wife said that it was crazy that out of like 12 people present, only one stood up to take action. But I say better safe than sorry.

some sad stories.
