The first story- The guy asked him if he minded if he smoked. Not sure why he didn't try, "Ugh I don't care but my dad would kill me. It's his car. Want me to pull over so you can light up?" And then roar outta there.
You've come a long way. Even from a year ago, your story telling/reading has grown in leaps and bounds! There's much more inflection in your voice now, it's wonderful.

In Story #4, the "weird feeling" the guy got when he went to step out of his vehicle was INTUITION! We all have it. Many people believe all women have it but most guys don’t. I think both sexes have it but women tend to pay more attention to it. Intuition is actually our subconscious brain noting everything going on around us that our conscious mind literally can’t pick up. EVERYONE should pay attention to that "gut feeling" they get in certain situations. The guy in the story's subconscious brain had probably noticed movement from the two guys that were first hiding in the woods way before he noticed. His subconscious brain may have also saw the guy in the road starting to get up in his peripheral view of one of his mirrors. That’s how I understand intuition from what I’ve read and heard about it. Many make intuition seem like a 6th sense mostly women have but that’s just not the case. We ALL have it and I bet every single person reading this can remember different times where they just didn’t feel right about something in a situation and decided to forgo their initial plan. This happens in the tiniest situations all the time! The BIG ONES are what people remember the most which makes a lot of sense! I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and/ or a Happy Hanukkah and are enjoying this Holiday Season! ✝️🎄🎁🕎♥️☃️🛷 Love from Texas ♥️🤠🌴
Once, when i was about 18, I picked up a hitchhiker. He was 15! Cops left this kid on SNOQUALMIE Pass, Washington state. The only gas station for 200 miles, summit of the mountains. It was December. He was driving a car. Wasn't stolen. He was just too young to drive. We stopped for snacks, see this kid crying, he doesn't speak english. Cops are telling him "sorry about your luck". He is telling cops he need to get to Pasco, (where we live) about 200 miles away. The cops left that CHILD there. So, we tell him, hey we are going there. Mind you, im white, bf is white, we are spanglishing like its a new day in the world, because it was 5 am. This kid crawled in the back of our VW SQUAREBACK. We fed him so many little debbie snacks, bagels, and we got him REALLY STONED. 😅 This was when cell phones first came out. His calls home kept getting dropped because we were in the damn mountains. This was 25 years ago. Guess what? I'm going to his wedding next month. Xavier is a wonderful human. Not all hitchhikers are cray.
My husband and I wrecked on a snowy mountain pass at like 3am. Car was inoperable. No cell service. It was at least 5 miles back to nearest town and we didn't have winter gear like idiots. A couple was on their way back over said mountain pass (first car I remember seeing for a while) like maybe 10 min after we wrecked, stopped and gave us a ride into town to a hotel after we waved our arms and flagged them down. They at the very least saved us a horrible walk/hike back into the town, but who knows. There's large wildlife in that area, I'm a huge klutz, there wasn't a good or safe place to walk, and it was super cold.... They could've saved one or both of our lives. I felt horrible even getting in their car... WE knew we had zero bad intentions and were just stuck in a bad situation.... But these people who were on their way back from the ER and their obviously young kids waiting at home for them (based on the toys and such in the backseat) had no idea what our intentions were. Absolute angels. We have been trying to pay it forward at as many opportunities as possible.
Wow, hey fellow Tri-Citian! I’ve never once seen anyone comment something about Pasco on a UA-cam comment section before haha. It feels weird. You did a really kind thing for that kid! It’s so wholesome that you guys kept in contact after all this time! Also, those cops were nuts. Were they just gonna leave him there to freeze?? Snoqualmie is no joke in the winter.
Wow, first time I've ever heard a story from someone from my city (Handsworth) 😅 feels weird knowing exactly where the op is talking about... thank you for submitting!
My first thought when Ronald pulled out something to smoke was "It's gonna be crack or something isn't it" 😂 Also that story is a great example as to why 1. Picking up strangers is a bad idea and 2. Being extremely passive doesn't always work in your favor. Last story: never stop for anyone lying in the road like that. Call 911 and keep driving. This is a super common carjacking tactic.
I love you and darkness, best scary stories ever hands down. Everyone might think I’m a weirdo for sleeping to this or just using it as background noise but that’s on them. This shiiiii soothing.😂
THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO SLEEP TO JOEL’S VOICE: What I do is go over to "Playlists" and choose the one with ALL of the stories (has the highest number of stories) because the newest story is always updated on it, even if it’s only been uploaded for a couple hours! I choose "Play All" then I make the new story start (always the story at the top) then I quickly pause it. Then, there’s only one choice left. You can pick 🔁 (🔃 looks like this if you flip it sideways) OR you can pick 🔀. The 1st one will play the next video in order of the newest to the oldest AND the 2nd choice will MIX the rest of the videos up to play randomly. I ALWAYS choose 🔀 so I can listen to the latest video then the rest will play randomly- ex: it will play a 3 year old video then a 6 month old video followed by a 2 year old video, and on and on! Either way, the video will automatically change to the next one in line (in order OR mixed up) and after a while there’s rarely an ad then there’s no ads. You may already know all this but I didn’t figure it out on my own until I was about 4 years into my now over 6 year love of the Horror Narration genre where I listen every single night! I figured all this out on my own…I really wish someone would have mentioned how to do this LONG before I figured it out! I hope you have a great day and are enjoying this Holiday Season! ✝️🎄🎁🕎☃️
I question the authenticity of that story. When they pulled over to get more snacks, the hitchhiker put his gun in his backpack and left it in the car, yet he said he used that for "shoplifting stores" if he got caught. Why would he leave it in the car?
That last story, set in Shreveport brought back some memories because I used to live in Shreveport years ago. I don’t miss it due to the crime rate and am not surprised the guy was almost a car jacking victim. I am glad he listened to his instinct. I am also glad I left that State and moved far away.🌷💐
In the 60s when my dad was in the Army, he and some of his friends would have contests to see who could hitchhike the farthest out and back. I was born in the 70s and it was not uncommon to see hitchhikers all the time.

The story chilled me to the core, I just had this feeling. Then I went to look again for the video a few days later and it had been taken down. I'm absolutely dying to know if this went anywhere!!!
I have never picked up a hitchhiker, but i have hitchhiked, and yes, back in the day, it wasn't frowned upon too much but i was careful the two times i did get picked up. after all , i survived :)
Story 3: Rather than being an Alpha Male Yardie taking macho to a new level, someone that tries to kill an innocent person over something so petty and trivial is the opposite of that. Whoever he was, he was a weak, fragile coward and nothing more. Probably stayed that way too…
My last hitchhiker was in 2019. I was at a crossroad in my life and moving to a place I always dramed of going to: West Virginia. I was passing through Indiana and saw the guy on the shoulder with a huge army pack. It was starting to rain. I ended up stopping and backing up almost a mile to pick him up. Getting pulled over by a guy pretending to be a cop is crazy and I feel like it’s very rare but for that to happen in England and the guy had a gun in a country where almost nobody including cops have guns is absolutely nuts

Hey brother I’m a podcast listener and I figured you may want to know that your most recent podcast is a little glitchy and skips around a lot on Spotify. Keep up the good work though dude you’re podcasts keep me going while I work! I’ve listened to every episode you have since I found you a couple years back!
you have a time stamp? sometimes Spotify might just be bugging and need the app reset
@@LetsReadPodcast I only got about 20-30 minutes through the podcast it kept rewinding and shooting forward by about 5-15 seconds probably about 15 times or so. But I believe it happened for the first time in the first 30 seconds or so. I heard the opening theme twice I’ll try resetting it though and see if that helps and get back to you! Thanks a lot!
@@LetsReadPodcast the app reset work I guess it was some weird Spotify glitch. Thank you nonetheless though and thank you for the hours of entertainment at my boring job!
I mean the first guy is right about insurance being a scam tho
Also, love Chrissy walken in pulp fiction. But At Close Range is my fav, I'd have2 say....

You don't stop on Jewella! Especially at night. The stop lights are optional in that area.
Ronald sounds pretty fun tbh.... up until the revolver part.
Honestly most of the serial
Killing happened to Hitchikers, not by them…
In cases like Ronald just look for the nearest tree jerk the wheel towards it and open his seatbelt
