      @@biggerbolderbaking hi Gemma, I made your cake today and it turned out very well, but I was zapped with the amount of sugar in this. Is there any way to reduce the sugar quantity? 6 cups in icing sugar, I was reading it 3- 4 times to confirm that it's 6 cups and not 6tbsps😄, was so worried that I still have not used to the entire icing yet, I'm stocking it in the fridge to make another round of chocolate cake. So scared about the sugar. The whole family enjoyed it, gave it to my neighbours too 🤣 still lots left over. I enjoy making stuff, and all of your recipes come out so well. Made so many friends try your recipes too. I thank you from the bottom of my heart

    Hi, I am still a learner. I cam bake cakes perfectly but learning to frost it. I'll be buying an offset spatula soon for cake frosting. I'm confused whether to buy a 6/8/10/12 inch one. It comes in the mentioned sizes. Your one seems and 8 inch one. Please recommend me about what length spatula I should buy. (You can also tell me what should be the length of the front part of the spatula excluding the handle). Thanks in advance :)

    • @biggerbolderbaking
      @biggerbolderbaking  5 років тому

      Hi Nadiya. The length of the spatula includes the handle. Each one has a different purpose depending on the size of the cake you will be working with. So for example, the 12 inch one will work for larger cakes. A 6 inch one will work for smaller cakes or cup cakes. Consider what kinds of cakes you will be working with in the future and you'll be grand. Hope this helps!

      Έτσι ρε πατριωτη! Χάρηκα πολύ για την γνωριμία και ας είναι μέσω Internet! Παρεμπιπτόντως είμαστε ο μόνος λαός που όταν βρίσκουμε κάποιον πατριωτη, χαιρόμαστε τόσο πολύ και φυσικά αναφερόμαστε στην πατρίδα!!

      Icing / powdered sugar is so finely ground, like flour, it is difficult to see how it could be granular, though I do not know the brand you can get. When this is sieved it will be about as fine as it gets. I think it may be how you made it. Go back to the recipe, and follow the instructions exactly, this will help.
      If you used granulated sugar, then this is what caused it. You can easily make powdered sugar at home if you do not have it www.biggerbolderbaking.com/how-to-make-powdered-sugar/
      Let me know if you see where it went wrong for you, I think you will,

    Hii Gemma..one more awesome receipe. Baked it on my son's demand. He just loves sprinkles. Used gems too to decorate the cake. One request Can u please demonstrate a cake using ingredients other that egg like flaxseed or banana? Yesterday i used flaxseed but it didnt get gelatinous after being in water for almost 20-30mins. Thanks and lots of love

    Everytime i bake something from your recipes they are always wetter or runnier .. what measurement do you use for a cup of liquid please? In australia its 250mls

    • @biggerbolderbaking
      @biggerbolderbaking  5 років тому +2

      It depends on what liquid you are measuring. All the ingredients are in grams and mils in my recipes. Especially when you are in hot and humid season or where you live, you may not want to dump all the liquid all at once. Just add the liquid slowly until everything is well hydrated unless I say that the batter should turn out wet or runny www.biggerbolderbaking.com/best-ever-chocolate-cake/

    Love your recipies and your accent. However the sugar that is available in my country is very sweet and potent. I'm not sure how sugar is made where you live, but in Pakistan it's made from sugar cane. 6 cups of sugar for icing would be terribly a lot!

    • @biggerbolderbaking
      @biggerbolderbaking  5 років тому

      It is a lot of sugar. In America, sugar is made from sugar beets. Unless stated that it is made from sugar cane. You can try to reduce the sugar if you'd like

    Hi Gemma, me again, I was wondering when it comes to making the frosting, how long does it take to mix it all together, I whip the butter until light and fluffy about 7 minutes, then start adding the sugar spoonful by spoonful, but it takes so long, and after half of the sugar gets added I get impatient and just start adding more at a time. By the time that most of the sugar has been added, the butter is really soft.... any advice... once again?
    Thank you so much! x

    • @biggerbolderbaking
      @biggerbolderbaking  6 років тому

      Yes, it is a process that requires patience. Follow my step by step instructions on my best ever buttercream recipe and you'll be grand: www.biggerbolderbaking.com/best-ever-vanilla-buttercream-frosting/

      It has a purpose in the recipe, and it is little enough! If you swap it out it will change the result, but not a lot! (www.biggerbolderbaking.com/best-ever-chocolate-cake/) check it out here. It balances with the buttermilk. you will need to nicrease the baking powder to 3 teaspoons :)
