That first cargo ship went down pretty quick. I just watched an interview with an old merchant captain where he said that how you slept at night depended on the cargo you had on board. For example if you were carrying ore you would sleep with all your cloths on, your life vest right next to you, and the cabin door partially open because if you were hit you may have as little as 20-30 seconds before the ship would go under and wouldn't sleep well because you had to be ready. If you were carrying explosives you would wear your pajamas and close the door and get a good nights rest because if you were hit it wouldn't matter, scary stuff.

I've learned everything I know about Uboat and tactics from your videos. Some things I haven't seen you cover are sea wolfs and crew skills. When you get to zero discipline one of two things will happen; someone will break, or a Sea Wolf will be created. A sea wolf being someone who handles stressful situations with stoicism, and won't freak out. It's good to stress your crews often because this reveals who the good crew members are vs. the weak ones that are a liability. When you get back to Port and check the recruiting officer, you can adjust the manifest for your boat. On the manifest you'll see the disposition of your crew. After every patrol I will always disband broken crew members and recruit a new one in their place. I have a crew makeup of nearly all sea wolves now who don't jeopardize the vessel. To disband a crew member simply click their name and it will bring you to their customization page. There you can promote pr disband. On that same page you can also adjust the skills of your officers. Each type having a different skill tree that give them useful perks. For example, your radioman's assistants can provide medical aid aswell but at half the speed of the officer OR your officer can provide first aid without a first aid kit at half the speed, or double the speed if they do have a kit. In many cases you can only choose one or the other. Maybe you have looked at this stuff. Maybe you haven't. I've become very protective and attached to my crew as I've cultivated it into a group if sea wolves. Highly recommend checking this mechanic out!
@@Wolfpack345 yeah I don't know exactly for how long the effect lasts but when I play the mechanic seems to be consistent. Also man keep up the grind! Loving all of your videos. Do you happen to have a discord maybe?

What a coincidence that a person called Koch (which is the German word for cook) saves the cook. That's the little funny stories on the side. As usual a wonderful upload, Sir.
Bought this game due to Wolfpack. Lemme tell you when I say I’m having fun even though I usually blast my entire arsenal of torpedos and miss every shot and I lost a crew trying to crash dive at a depth that was basically the height of the sub. Fun game.
Just a heads up wolf, you can unclick the officers and have the crew turn on pumps and lights and other things while the officers still do there thing. Also the crew will shut the pumps off and compressor if you have them turn it on.
There is a magnetic detonator mod on steam workshop, might want to check it out. Also i believe depth charges also affect ai’s detection ability. If you play with detection hints on it at least indicates so.
Torpedo hits mid ship and sinks it within seconds... I think that is a little more than just a "pretty good" hit 😅 That's a perfect hit my friend 👌👍😍👏👏
It looks like the corvettes stop moving to listen and give your location to the DDs. Which seems REALLY good at giving the DDs your exact location. Not sure if the DDs suffer any hydrophone penalties when they speed towards you for a depth charge run.
The AI are definitely effected by the depth charge detonation noise. If you turn on the detection notification and try getting depth charged with that on you can see the factors that are applied to your detect-ability at any moment. Depth charges makes you pretty much impossible to hear.
I regretfully say I’m glad I held back from rushing in to buy U-boat as it still is really missing a lot of the critical elements necessary for it to be a subsim worth buying. The most painfully obvious ones at the moment for me are the derpy AI and the still seemingly lacking accurately modelled merchant drafts. Never having to adjust the torpedo run depth for weather or different ship types is just getting more and more obvious as a missing element. In any case, at least there was *something* of a hunt for you this time!
We just see ships sink like this in games and go woah cool but if you really think about it this would be terrifying. Traveling forever and never knowing if there’s a U Boat sitting right next to you. A lot of people drowned from U Boats. And sometimes had to sit in the freezing shark infested waters for days. For example USS Indianapolis.
Been trying to find a few of the mods you use, specifically Skippers8x60, authentic maps and torpedo icons but can't find anything on the steam workshop by those names. Would they be from another source for Uboat mods? Also curious how you are able to have some the plotted courses display bearings as well and not just the distance? Is that part of a mod, in-game tools or something in the configuration settings? Loving the videos! They have really helped with learning how to manually target and sink ships as well as stalking and escape strategies. Keep them coming and I'll keep on enjoying!
All supplies(torps included) for ship should be where you can buy food and fuel (look under torpedo tab, if I recall correctly) aka at the warehouse guy.
Every time I try to submerge the boat to above 70 or 80ms when I try to blow the tanks some crew jump off the sub. How do they do it when the hatches are closed 😕. And when we get a message from other uboats about some ships in some other area heading in a direction how to track/expect them where they will be at the time we reach the square suggested by other subs.
