Thankyou for posting this Terry! I read your review on Amazon, I 've been looking for a router plate for ages . I 've just ordered it after watching this ! Thanks again mate!
Thanks for great idea. Insert is unfortunatelly out of stock now, I will have to find another. Btw, really like the way you used your workbench! That is great. Better solution than build whole router table. 👍 This saves space.
Yeah I added a fence and in the box of destiny I found a safety switch from a Piller drill . I made a box for mine so it's one little unit I'm well happy thank you 👍
Hi Terry Thank you for this video, I have been looking for an insert plate for my RTO0700 but have never been sure whether it will fit...... Until now!! Many thanks, Phil
Hi John, It works really well 👍🏼, there are lots for sale on Amazon and eBay and they all look very similar and probably are the same , but I know for sure this one works. Plus others had a much longer delivery 📦
I have a black one on order at the moment. The only thing I am doing different is using some hex screw inserts and 6m flat head bolts at the corners instead of fixing plate with wood screws, as this is going to be inserted in my workbench I want to be able to take it in and out without the screws wearing the wood and loosing grip over time. Thanks for the video, very useful.
I must admit, I’m not sure of the difference between RT0700 and your RT0701C, I would suggest looking on eBay or Amazon because it gives a list of compatibility, I bought mine a long while ago and I can’t remember if it was eBay or Amazon, I I know it was definitely one of those two 👍🏼
1/4 inch from memory, I just really took my time and clamped a piece of wood and used it as a guide for the straight sides until I got to the corners which I did freehand.
Terry, I tried this. As this router is designed to be used upright and not upside down, what I couldn't do was to be able to use the template inserts to prevent the sawdust falling into the motor. Even with a dust extraction fence, some of the dust would drop into and damage the motor. Can you suggest a solution?
You’re right chris, it’s hard to stop the dust, I use a very powerful twin motor, record power cam vac and that removes a lot of the dust, but I thinks it’s a problem for all router tables, thanks for watching and your feedback 👍🏼
@@Terrythemaker Hi again Terry, thanks for your prompt reply. I'm a newbie at this. My router plate came with 3 or 4 varying diameter inserts, I now realize that if used according to the bit diameter they would eliminate most of the dust that might impact on the motor,

@@clivesquire6463 hi Clive I must admit I don’t know the model, it’s donkeys years old, I think it’s just the bog standard one from memory, but any workmate should do the job 👍🏼
(I know this is a year old...) Thanks for the video. You put my mind at rest that this will work on my rt0700. I was going to purchase a lumberjack router table but this way I can build the whole thing to my specs. Does Terry - or anyone else know what that rectangular hole is for?
Hi Doug I’m not too sure, I think it might be so you can get the wheel on the back of the router base, that’s the only thing I can think of, but I doesn’t line up very well if that is what it’s for. I will have another look tomorrow. 👍🏼

Thanks Terry just looking at plates for the same router, and you have just helped me make my mind up😊
No worries, it’s a great bit of kit for the money 👍🏼

had exactly the same thought. My B&D workbench c.1984 is still in the corner of my workshop and still gets regular use.
Fantastic, finally a video with simple and useful solution. Thanks a lot you have one subscriber here 👌
Thank you 😊
Awesome thanks 👍just bought one while watching you
Thanks David, I’ve added a fence to it today, I will do an update soon.

No problem Phil, I believe they still sell them on Amazon and eBay, just make sure you get the right one, there seems to be a few models. 😊
@@Terrythemaker Hi Terry The Amazon part number you supplied was spot on, the insert plate fits the RT00700 perfectly. Regards Hill

that's very simple and practical and easy, great to see this example..
I just 3D printed one, but I will incorporate some of these features in mine. Thanks!
Thanks for the info Terry.
Anyone know what size the hole should be to properly fit the router through the table?
Hi Terry, great Vid, anyone used this Router plate with the Katsu metric guide bush set, and how good/bad was the result?.
Cheers
Dave.

That’s a very good idea! I was concerned about them loosing grip over time. 👍🏼
@@Terrythemaker I will be honest, it's not my idea, I saw it on another video.

Ive just ordered one of these, what size router bit did you use to cut out for the plate? The corners look a perfect fit!

Is the makita RT0700CX4
The same as the RT0700
I believe so, I think they just add the CX4 bit at the end, or CX2 depending on whether you bought it as a set it separately.

It’s so you can insert the guide fence attachment and access the knurled nut to secure. Hope this helps.
Merci tres bonne information
Merci beaucoup 👍🏼
Your insert is better than your sound quality... I see some improvement opportunities on that subject... 😜👍
