When bama got ppl they have more volume too lol ...aside from the obvious difference of bodies producing sound the arrangments, tone, execution, entertainment was all on display at a higher level than ASU. Didn’t say they did bad at all...just not close to what I was hearing from Jsu.

Numbers do not matter it’s all about the quality of musicianship. You can have a 300 piece band with bad quality musicianship thats lack luster or you can have a 150 piece band with quality musicianship that can blow big bands out the water.
Micah Briggs we are saying the same thing believe that. Numbers does matter when the bigger Band (JSU) can play exceptionally well, have great compositions, and have a good music selection. Today’s fans only care about how loud the band can play and that mostly consists of NUMBERS. Like I said I enjoyed both bands, they did a great job.
IMO ASU sounds the way they sound is not because of numbers, each section is playing together and their balanced. I wouldn't want ASU to get a whole lot bigger than they are right now because you will start having tempo problems like JSU had back in '14. Don't get me wrong JSU sounds good, but let ASU be ASU.

They sound great and their arrangements are some of the best I've heard in the SWAC. JSU is extra though - the good kind of extra - and will hold their own against ANYBODY. It wasn't a fair fight.
Great fifth quarter. JSU definitely had the volume and played those riffs. ASU had more musicality played songs. I wish ASU had played Take You Down legato instead of choppy, sound like they tongued the entire song. Both bands did great and had a different approach.
Jsu n su are the best. I can never choose whose better because southern will definitely put the technicality on you, while jackson plays stuff that just makes you groove.

JSU gets the 'W' because of their fullness in sound but, I'm guessing that their numbers may have had a lot to do with that. (Power in numbers) JSU's music selections were better but, their tubas didn't bring the funk. Seems as if they've got a 3-star tuba section. 'Too big for so little sound.
