Omigosh. I adored you as a kid. My boyfriend and I listened to Flex-able constantly. My boyfriend had every album you did, Zappa, PIL , solos, David Lee Roth, and we went to see you when you toured with David Lee Roth. We waited by the back stage door (in Portland, OR) and when you came my boyfriend yelled "Hey Steve" and fanned out your albums like a card hand. We wanted you to know we were there for YOU. You told your roadie "Grab that kid's records" (We heard you.) and he took them to you and you signed them all. I can't tell you what that meant. We were so totally elated. And here we are, almost 40 yrs later. And you are still an honest, seeking, wonderful artist. I'm a visual artist. I hope I never lose the seeking like you have kept. You are STILL a model for me. I can't say that about all the musicians I followed in the 80's. Lol, but then, they found their own way I suppose. But thank you for still being there. Thank you for being accessible. And thank you for still thinking through all these things together with us.

Hi Steve, I know your guitar playing since the early 90s. I always knew that you were one of the best electric guitar players ever. With this series and the Alien Guitar Secrets, I am actually discovering the man behind the music. Your intellectual and spiritual depth perhaps surpasses your guitar playing. Hi Steve, my son and I were with you in Madrid a couple of years ago in a guitar clinic, and it was a fantastic life experience and we love you!! We remember the especial very moment when before signing our guitars (my son was the only kid in the hall) we gave you the original Passion and Warfare poster to be signed inside and then suddenly you teared it a little bit when unfolding it (because it was really folded) and then you looked at us with a knowing look and said "well, at least you can say that has been broken by Steve Vai" and we all started to laugh, haha a very clever response :) Thanks again, my 14 year-old-son is very inspired by you. Regards from Spain Steve, we hope you and your family are okay, I hope you come soon and we can see you again.

Yeah, but they don't know everything, nor do they have many original philosophical ideas. All he's doing here is spewing New Age stuff with a touch of his own insights. And I speak from experience, check Rupert Spira.
In fact Steve doesn't know many details about what he thinks he's talking about he just barely scratches the surface and then pushes ideas that aren't necessarily his own.

Really enjoyed this presentation. These are challenging times from so many situations. Whether it's bad news or the environmental changes. Very helpful to find peace within yourself rather than the painful egoic reaction to situations out of our control.

UIA suggestion: Vai's perspective on the evolution of music; not just the development of modern genres, but the evolution of mankind's connection with these invisible vibrations invoking the deep emotions that have inspired our creativity,, from back to stringed instruments found in ancient sumeria, and most likely much further back.
Isn't it amazing how "inspiration" is like an organism of consciencness. It just keep growing and inspiring creativity. From the first fire to tye moon landing. Electric guitar, you name it, It all started 250,000 years ago and evolved.
Feeling blessed. I wish you'll make these videos forever, anyway :-) You helped me getting back into the zone. Since then, I also had more power to help other people and to enjoy music on a deep level again. Iv had a jem for years and I cannot recommend it enough. Just the quality of the craftsmanship far surpasses anything I have played, even $6-9k guitars. It's so comfortable and easy to play. You're a great American that takes their responsibility property. I totally agree. The great design of our country is to campaign strongly for your belief in the candidate. Once elections are over, a peaceful transition of power takes place unlike dictatorial systems and as an American we come together and support our country and it's new administration. Their are always good things an administration does and like you said do what you can if you want to help guide and change our country within it's framework and design. Violence and pushing communism, world government and other things like open borders is not within our framework or design and is detrimental to yourself, America and americans themselfs. The hate people have adopted may have intentionally and professionally indoctrinated them. Steve took the time for himself to carefully think about politics and I think he is spot on. I can't think of a better answer to the question. Huge respect. So many performers take the easy way out and use their position with their audience to spouse their hate and bashing of an Administration. No matter what performer it is I blacklist them in my life. I feel violated by their agenda. Steve has proven to be a very special man during this time of suffering and now some great words on division in our country.
You will be remembered for these gifts as much as your playing. Thank you!

You got it exactly right man. The Garden of Eden is representative of a state in which there is no suffering and no awareness of the world. In the Bible, the birth of consciousness starts with Eve eating the apple, and becoming self aware. This is a very common archetype. It's even found in Buddhism. In the lore, Buddha's father builds this city in which no one is sick or elderly. Everyone is fit and young and healthy in this city. So Buddha is raised in this city (the garden of Eden pretty much) without any knowledge of suffering or death. But then, he ventures out of the city, and the gods play tricks on him. They show him an elderly person, a sick person, and then a dead person. All of this, at first, is too overwhelming for Buddha and he runs back into the city, but it's the SAME thing. It is the emergence of consciousness and thought. I love archetypes.

Very good! I agree. For me too, because I follow spiritism, there are two general universal principles: intelligent (or spiritual) and material. Above is the Supreme Intelligence, the primary cause of the universe. This universal intelligence creates energy and spirits. Without spirits, matter would be in perpetual dispersion and nothing would be formed. The evolution of consciousness occurs due to the increasing complexity of the matter-spirit association. Each intelligent principle is created simple and ignorant, but destined to evolve without ceasing. So, I fully agree with you, because from the atom to the archangel there is life, and the archangel himself started from the atom, and just evolved, they being our “older brothers”. As you said, we cannot see life in the inanimate object, but without the intelligent principle in an atom nothing would form. Each body is a garment for the soul, and we, as a human species, transfer our spiritual individuality through reincarnation and remaining in our unconscious past memories, which manifest themselves as instinct. But, with each body, with each physical experience, we acquire co-creative capacity with the Supreme Intelligence, in a word, we evolve.
Steve Vai, I I already admired and much your work with the music, and as a spiritualist you prove how much you have evolved, but, as you said, our species is still small close to the upper generations that we ignore. We will learn over time. Loved this.

These videos have been amazing, Steve. I looked up to you as a kid and a budding guitarist back in the 80's. (Somewhere around here I have an old Ibanez Roadstar that's pretty banged up from trying to emulate your guitar spins back when I has 13 years old.)

Steve, the repercussion of your thinking directly bring what we are seeing Google and cie doing: augmented human, the ultimate goal of separation of mind and body and the corollary, infinite life... for some. You just make me realize that the new age theories and ideas very interesting by themselves, can materialized into a pure nightmare society. Just like communism, capitalism, national socialism...I would Love to talk about that with somebody like you.

I've been pleasantly surprised by some of my favorite musicians who show an interest, or thoughts about things beyond music before - Alex Masi and Adrian Vandenberg.

Steve the anthropology professor -- my anthropology professors would be interested in what he's saying, for sure -- not sure they'd cosign all of it without a whole lot more support -- but I love his explanations -- and love what he's done with music over the years.
Another term for personal evolution is illusion therapy since we can only perceive through the senses (with a caveat for info from higher selves and disembodied guides) - we are always perceiving, A.K.A. Interpreting that which is real, which creates illusion. We can consciously refine our illusion, adjusting to get closer to "truth." In the evolution of species, is it life force or mind force driving progression and what is the source of that drive, AND is it free will or a type of unconscious momentum as an aspect of "that which created all that exists?"
