Toyota Supra acceleration before & after turbo (XS-Power Turbo kit)

- A short video showing a comparison between when my Supra was NA and after I went single turbo. The test was conducted on the same stretch of racetrack in similar sunny day conditions. Currently running 10PSI to let it settle in and look after the transmission. The car definitely lacks power in the top end due to the 2.5in NA exhaust system still being present, There is definitely some power to be gained there!

Current Specs:
-XS-Power Turbo Kit (FMIC, 50mm external gate, 3in dump w/screamer etc)
-1000cc injectors
-Walbro 460lph file pump
-Turbosmart FPR 1200
-LinkECU
-Mishimoto performance radiator
-Xtreme heavy-duty clutch
-HKS SQV4 BOV
-2.5in Exhaust from the 3in dump to the back (not ideal at all!)
STOCK
-Transmission
-Diff
-Brakes
-Suspension
That's a huge difference nice to see that, i don't know if you upgraded the air filter but AEM Dryflo or K&N would be great.
It's running a 3in intake to a cone filter at the moment which came with the kit. I actually want to have it re made to better fit the engine bay and clear the distributor (as its currently sitting up against it :/ ) that said I plan to go coil on plug ASAP.
Of course it will be faster. The driver on the right turns the engine up to 7k rpm, while the driver on the left only turns it up to 6. Any turbine blows well at the cut-off
So on the left is stock non-turbo and it makes peak power higher with the turbo and tune either way its would be a ton slower without the turbo.
@@JayDM2311 Under-twisting the engine also lowers its performance
@@ramilan41k70 The power difference is enough that redlining or not won't help the NA car here lmao
@@JordieMotive97 At least, comparing non-maximum power and maximum is stupid
Archives unlocked: runtig fast
Haha its km/h, you had me thinking it was fast for a sec lol
Well sir I can tell you it is plenty fast for me as a relatively new driver coming from much slower cars. I am fully aware that in the Supra world my car is quite slow lol. But keep in mind my build was very much budget orientated I am a university student after all and can only work part-time as well as having ti support myself in my ludicrously expensive country that I live in! That said I do have plans for the future to go bigger and better (New gearbox, turbo, diff, more boost etc.) but for now I am more than happy with my current setup :D
Man thought he outpaced a Koenigsegg Agera RS with a supra.... clown
@@Dezza2241 supra and koenigsegg dont even belong in the same sentence, try again re.dart.
Should have driven it the same way on both so the comparison would be more accurate
The NA setup stops making power beyond that so that’s where I shifted. Maybe I could’ve shifter higher but it would have made very little difference (maybe even worse). Meanwhile the turbo (according to the dyno) pulls all the way to limiter!
you can hear the turbo sucking if you listen closely, thats insane
I can confirm that in real life it’s much louder. Videos never do car sounds justice!
@@JayDM2311never thought of that. Cant imagine what that sounds irl! Must be sick
you can do this with almost any turbo just change the intake hoses or better yet cold air intake. from factory all turbo cars have intakes that muffle the sound since it's usually plastic.
this is correct! I have stock turbo on my Suzuki Cappuccino and I just did and intake and it sound awesome now!@@wrth
wtf lol I've never seen a speedo actually go past the numerical limit
Fun fact, most of them can go back to 0 if there isn't a little peg to stop them at a set limit lol
cool
Thank you :)
Iam not a car guy but so I ask how much did you pay in total to get the turbo inside your car?
This is a good question and I have kept financial records on all of my cars (for better or worse lol). The cost of my turbo conversion which includes: The kit, extra bits I had to buy like the ECU, fuel pump, BOV, Clamps etc., exhaust modification done at a shop, clutch install at a shop and tuning. All-in it cost me $11,647.55AUD. It is important to note though I did all of the turbo install myself saving me a lot of money in labour and I also got the car tuned through a friend of my uncles so that cost me less than half of the usual price. I am pretty confident under normal conditions it would have cost $15,000AUD or perhaps more. Hope this helps answer your question :D
@@JayDM2311 thank you so much for the answer
No worries happy to share :D
