Man finally got to greenshocker temps and ... It does work as advertised. Doing a backyard reno and had some new areas and I woke up this morning after rains and it looks like I'll be mowing today.
I live in Clovis California. It gets 114 two years ago I put sod in my backyard and it just fried it thousands of dollars down the drain so I re-seated with Bermuda. It’s looking really good. Just need to learn how to get rid of the crabgrass.
I bought Petes GCI Turfs Alpha ELite Bermuda and it really took off without having to keep it wet 24/7. Im in Texas on water restrictions and i watered it for 5 mins in morning and night for 2 weeks and its doing pretty damn good still. My lawn also has goose and crab in spots.
Hey Doc! I’m 65 and retired, 2 years past lower spinal fusion surgery and trying to evaluate the best option to help me care for my lawn (1.5 acres). I have a 24 HP ZERO TURN and a self-propelled Toro. I think I’ve noticed you haven’t invested in a tractor and do a lot with your side-by-side. I plan to renovate by backyard next spring, I have Zoysia in the front and side yards. What’s your opinion between a compact tractor and a side-by-side with a dump bed.
You can try reel mowing the Common very short to encourage the hybrid that tolerates it better, lowering HOC is just about the only way, has to be very short though
Hey Doc, The Blockdog here over at Biscuit Hill Farm outside Newnan. FINALLY settled on successful Rx for GOOSEGRASS in my Tifway 419. 2oz/gal MSMA(from Do My own) +.5 oz Revolver. Especially in this heat yes knocks my established Bermuda back a bit but 3 days to good kill, using Yardmaster Sprayer. I’ll not miss a late April early May Pre emergent next year!!!! Where’s the next round of rain for us …..!!? Best Blockdog
The rate for plant growth regulator for common is much higher than hybrid Bermuda. Would it be possible to apply the hybrid rate and then let the common get overgrown? Scalp the common without scalping the hybrid
Doc, would it be okay to stack Super Juice and Greenshocker on the same day, or would that be too much? My yard is really struggling this time of year.
Hey Doc...my St Augustine grass has tons of little white flies/gnats , that i only see when i mow the grass or walk on it and disturb them...what are they? grass seems thin and not vigourous. Cheers
Hey Doc...I Can't buy the Anderson's product from Amazon in Australia mate...they won't ship to us here...any suggestions on similar products or perhaps you might be interested in setting up an affiliate program with me so we can import in bulk and sell ??
I'm just West of you in Alabama. We have wonderful geranium in our lawns. They are a pain to get rid of. I also have Bahai grass that has somehow gotten into my and my neighbors lawns. I'm thinking this is a gift from the lawn services that don't bag or clean their equipment between jobs. I'm hoping to get rid of the Bahai by cutting short and encouraging the Bermuda to spread. Any advice would be appreciated.
My large yard had spots of Bahia from being farm land at one time . A couple of years ago I went crazy digging up the clumps and monitoring for seed heads before I would mow . It’s a process but this year had no Bahia and the common Bermuda filled in nicely . Bahia is so ugly ! I’m in Alabama also .
Hey Doc, I had asked this on one of the previous videos, but hoping I may catch your attention on this one. Looking at potentially getting a reel mower and wondering how it does on uneven ground compared to a standard blade mower. Right now I am having to mow my Bermuda at around 2 inches due to scalping in certain spots and wondering if I’ll have the same issue on a reel mower or if due to the fact that it is wider, it will alleviate this?! Appreciate ya!
@@HowTowithDoc appreciate the response and sadly, what I figured. I was really hoping to avoid doing the leveling, but it’s lookin like that’s gonna be the best option before getting the reel mower.
No... there are specialty seeds that replicate FINE blade sod. They actually blend in well with hybrid lawns. They are 70% smaller in blade than a common.
Hi Doc, used the Andersons pre emergent late winter and then Dimension in early spring. Only weeds that I have is this darn dove weed, which the split pre emergent doesn't cover for the dove weed based on the label. DO you have a recommendation for a split pre emergent for covering both the crab grass and the dove weed? Thanks!! Love the channel by the way!!
I live in New Mexico where it’s hot it’s dry and the wind blows all the time. I need some thing that grows really slow and doesn’t have to have a lot of water which would be better Zoya or Bermuda?

Watching your videos is like watching a modern-day Green Acres with the country living. Congrats on the great, peaceful living. Thanks for sharing.
yes, please post more of your surf fishing adventures and a run down of your fishing setup!!

I use a product named Over the Top to control the common Bermuda in my centepede lawn

Loved MSMA but it's not legal any more for residential use.
@@HowTowithDoc however one may “obtain “ MSMA from do my own
What kind of common Bermuda grass seed do you recommend?
What happened the the fruit orchard near the garden?
Whats the link for crabgrass prevention??? I dont see it

you seem to have so little goose n crab grass in your good lawn, is there a reason you dont pull it by hand?
It's more than shown. Plus it leaves a massive hole in the clay soil.
Have you ever tried to pull out Goosegrass by hand? I live in Florida with sandy soil and it is virtually impossible to pull out by hand.
Looking forward to the new channel.
Can you use that grass out max for flower beds where Bermuda has gotten into your bushes.
Yes, doing a video today
Yea I got lots of crab grass in my bluegrass. I need to check your info regarding it.

Probably Leaf Hoppers. Not a huge problem but just about any lawn bug spray will tone them down.
What did you spray the goose grass with??
I just posted them both up. www.howtowithdoc.com/lawn-care-august/
So why seed with bermuda AND rye if Bermuda will overtake the rye?
Rye is just to help with the rainwater when the bermuda is dormant....at least that's what I got from what he said
Thanks for actually watching....

The more bumpy a lawn... the more uneven a lawn... the better the reel mower will cut. It must be a 25" min. Our back yard is horrible.

@@HowTowithDoc that's why I can't wait for your give away announcement!
Will you throw the new bermuda seed right on top of the existing? Or do you plan to til?
On top of it... let the battle begin.
What are you going to do with all those chicken eggs?😮🤣
Doc isn’t any Bermuda seed a common ?

Switched to GoPro a while back... now using the 12. My 9 is at the bottom of the pond if you want it.

Doc can probably spin a pretty good golf course at his property.

No help today Doc?
You don't eat those chickens do you? You are naming them and getting attached to them to eat them.
John is the only one with a name.
Remind us, are those Road Island Reds? My parents had a few of those for layers. They laid thousands of eggs over the time they had them.
